As of today we have not heard from the boss.

You know.. I never did hear back from 'the boss'. Mayte told me twice that he would get back to me, but he never did. But she did tell me if went through and he got it, so I kind of forgot about it. I paid back in March...

Well that's reassuring. It's not just me.

Any other advice for me about working with Mayte?

Did she send you any color samples yet or is she waiting until the date gets a bit closer?

Ive communicated a few times the last week or so with her. Here's what I guess it comes down to. She is swamped, apparently working alone for the plans on most of the events. On more than one occasion she has asked me to simply " trust her" . She says my date is reserved although I have not and will not send her a deposit until we meet in the coming months. So although we are desperate for answers to our questions , those of us that have wedding next year need to take the back burner. I know it sucks and ts not what we are used to when deling with vendors here in the states but its kind of what we all signed up for when deciding to have weddings in another country. I guess when it's our turn she will give us 200% as she keeps telling me. I've decided to not keep writing her or a bit. Going to keep planning , book my resort and hope that things work out for the best. I'm sure they will

Hi Ladies, I'm in the same boat as I am also a 2014 bride. Right now I am not stressing the communication with Mayte, all the past brides say they went through the same frustrations and the day of their wedding it was everything they wanted and more. I try not to email her and just find my answers online through this site, I also joined the jellyfish brides facebook group, I google  jellyfish images, check out photographer blogs, jellyfish images on pinterest, check out jellyfish hashtags on instagram..everything I can think of lol . When I do email her I ask very specific questions and only about one topic at a time. She has never lasted more than a few days to answer back because her answers are usually only a sentence long, but they answer the question.

For those of you using photographers in Punta Cana, they are also a great source of information because they most likely have shot weddings at Jellyfish in the past.

I have sent a private message to a few past brides about specific questions and they have all been very friendly and helpful

Lets just try to be patient ladies and enjoy the process as much as we can.

as far as the deposit, I received an email response from the boss almost 2 weeks after I sent the deposit, confirming they received it. As long as you have your receipt from the bank, you should be fine.

I just got back from my June 29 wedding and let me tell you ladies, it was by far the best wedding my guests attended (their words not mine). And that includes the states. I had about 86 guests including children and it was the perfect size. Any more, the lower level would have been too cramped (my opinion). So if you wanted to host more guests, I would highly recommend using the entire restaurant (which we didn't do). There were guests dining during our reception, but no one could tell!! So you don't need to spend the money unless you really have to.

Mayte is beyond exceptional at what she does. Please do not stress and do not keep bothering her with emails. I would wait until you get close to your wedding date and send her an email with all of your questions. DO NOT WORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She really knows what she is doing. She has A LOT of years of experience and believe me, she does a BETTER job than planners I've seen in the U.S. Her attention to detail is unmatched. All of my guests were wowed by the decor, food, and all around ambiance.

My wedding turned out better than I even envisioned it to be. And this is what Mayte creates. So don't hound her with constant emails because  you are doing yourself a disservice. Let her control the planning because she will do a 1000 percent better job than you envision for yourself. And this is coming from years of wedding experience myself. Just bring a good crowd with you and your day will be magical.

Agreed! At the start I'd ask a whole bunch of questions and shed answer like one. Lmao. So now I ask her one question every few days , usually getting a quick response back with a few words. It's cool. I now know that's how she works and that she's soooooo busy. Apparently in July she has about 27 weddings booked. That's crazy ! She wrote me and said she hasn't say down to watch a movie in ages. Hahaha. So I guess if our wedding is late next year, little by little she and we will get there.

I would discourage against a buffet. The restaurant is really not that big, so I don't think this would be a good idea in terms of set-up. Also, the presentation of the food is phenomenal and your guests wouldn't get that with a buffet.
Thanks. Ill keep that in mind

Congrats on your wedding! I'm so happy to hear everything worked out well for you. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing some info of your wedding, I'm sure lots of details are prob still fresh in your mind. I know lots of brides would to know which menu, drink package, decor cost, and entertainment. If you have the total cost of your wedding, that would be extremely helpful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
