So, just a little vent. I get married in about 3 1/2 months. I asked two friends to be bridesmaids and recently just got a text....a TEXT, from one of them saying that she isnt coming!!! She has lied to me for the past 6 months saying that she booked and got her airfare. meanwhile, I bought her dress for her, bought many gifts to put in her welcome bag and lended her money. where that money is, WHO KNOWS! when I asked her why she lied to me she told me to "Fu*k off" and hung up on me. SUPER Classy.

At this point it is too late to ask anyone else to stand in so I am left with just one girl, a dress that I cant return and gifts that I guess i will have to keep. I am hoping that is the only drama I will have LOL.

This was my game plan. I paid 9 nights myself because two families backed out about a week and a half before go time. It was much cheaper to do this obviously then pay 400 per table per hour for the tons of events I had

Just a thought, maybe somewhat extreme...however, maybe booking a room for the 6 nights would cost less than what you would pay for a reception?  I don't know how the math would work out.  But, there are extra benefits that go along with the 60 nights (including free nights for bride and groom).  It may be worth looking into booking the cheapest possible room for 6 nights and 'eat' that cost, in order to get the other freebies that go along with it??

I believe the Lanterns are plugged in.  I never asked, but I do know we had an entire strand go out so I would assume they are just essentially Christmas lights with.  I should have ask for a refund or partial credit.  It did annoy me a bit. We also got square table candles and steps with candles on them (there are pics on my review on the MP page) but they were battery operated which was nice b/c with the wind that evening they would have gone out instantly

Unfortunately this is notcheaper.

We pay $148 per person per night.or $260 per single room per night.   Because we have 54 nights already we do get one free private cocktail hour.  I opted out of the cocktail hour and upgraded to the reception for about $300.  I will pay $60/table for each additional hour after the two hours that are provided.  So that will cost me about $600 total. Plus the $385 for the ipod set up. (Which I'd have to pay reguardless.)

I will have my guests meet at a public bar for cocktail hour. (My WC wasn't happy about this BUT  I didn't see paying extra for this when most of my guests will be in pictures anyway. )

I hope that this is correct and she's not going to throw some surprise costs at me when we're down there.

Rae, don't worry about your guests heading to one of the bars. We had both cocktail hour and dinner reception, and in between our guests still went to the Nizuc lobby bar for drinks.

But I really think you should consider paying for the 6 nights, look at the calculations:

Cost: $260 * 6 = 1560

Savings: $600 for reception + 4 nights refunded ($148 * 2 *4) = 1784

Plus, maybe you can convince her to throw in the cocktail hour. So it might cost you more upfront, but in the end you will save some money.

Yeah, but with the 54 nights booked, she is going to get 2 comped nights anyway.

60 nights booked gets you 4 comped nights.  So, she is only getting 2 extra free nights, not 4.

Hi Girls!

I'm getting married on September 5, 2011 at The Moon Palace.  Only 38 more days to go and I'm so excited!  I made my own Save the Date cards, and I got the idea from this website.  I can't remember from which bride, but they turned out great!!!  I was going to make my own invites, but ran out of time.  IMG00303-20110331-1550 (A0504187).JPGIMG00302-20110331-1550 (A0504191).JPGIMG00296-20110331-1542 (A0504185).JPGIMG00297-20110331-1542 (A0504186).JPGIMG00301-20110331-1543 (A0504189).JPG

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
