When I had my dress hemmed I asked the seamstress to keep the extra fabric. I wanted to do something special with it for the moms. I put up a request on etsy for ideas on how to use it on a hankie. I ended up going with a lady who would use the material to make a mini replica of my dress on the hankie with embroidery. I LOVE how they came out! I think it's too cute and so sentimental! I paid $35 including shipping for both hankies from Click the image to open in full size.

Thanks! Most of the other people on etsy wanted to use my dress material just as a border or something but I LOVED the idea of making it a literal translation. A dress from my dress! My mom is super sentimental so I think she'll like it!

That is so cute - what a great idea! I may have to borrow your hankie idea - I know my dress will need to be hemmed!

Great idea! I ordered hankies off Etsy, but that's so cool that you incorporated your dress too!

This is a nice idea! Are they very soft? I am thinking about getting some now that I see yours.

Well....I'm not totally sure how soft they are. I don't actually have them yet. That picture is the proof picture she sent me. I'll let you know as soon as I get them though. Another option would be to just buy your own hankies and have somebody do the rest. Then you can guarantee the quality of the hankies. I had to mail her my dress material anyway so it wouldn't have been a problem to just include the hankies if I had them myself.
