When I told my dad that we were having a destination wedding, at first I didnt think he would even be attending as he is not much of a traveller, to my surprise he said he is going and asked right away who would be walking me down the isle... I said both of you will be and he was fine with that. I am much closer to my stepdad since he has raised me since I was 4 years old so I wouldnt have it any other way :)

Same situation for me except my step dad doesn't want to walk me down the isle with my dad and to be quite honest I think it would be too awkward for both of them. So I finally came up with the solution that my dad is going to walk me to the isle and my step dad is going to walk me down the isle and Im going to see if the preist can somehow ask each of them about giving me away. Ive told my step dad this already but not my real dad (Ive avoided this for an entire year!!!!!) This has been the hardest part of my wedding but I realized you just need to say screw it and not worry about what anyone else thinks, they will get over it. Oh man, I leave in 9 days I should probably get on telling my dad haha

      Good luck!

i wanted both my mom and dad - i walked down part of the way, met my dad at the top of the steps, he walked me down the steps, and then we met my mom and the 2 of them walked me the rest of the way (they are divorced). maybe something like that will work?

My (half) sister had this problem, sort of. She has a great relationship with our dad, but her step-dad has been around for a LONG time. It was in a church, so she had our dad walk her in, her SD met them at the pews and then they both walked her down the aisle. Her SD then shook her FIs hand and sat down, then our dad officially gave her away.

You could either have one pass you off to the other, both some of the way, or there is NOTHING wrong with both giving you away! My cousin had her mom and her dad give her away. It was really sweet.

I think it is cute to have them both walk you down the aisle because it seems they have both been father figures to you. I may walk down by myself or either ask a younger brother to do it.

As a lot of people have already said I think you should have both of them walk you down the aisle especially since they've both been a big part of your life.

Thanks for all the input. I'm just worried because my dad's a very stubborn and uptight guy. He thinks he's very different from my stepdad and doesn't have anything nice to say about him, while my stepdad's been nothing but wonderful and would never say a bad thing about my dad. It's just all very awkward, and I'm worried that if I tell my dad before he books his trip (which is 3 months away mind you), he'll decide to stay home...

At any rate, thanks again for all your input guys!

I think the idea of one meeting you half way down the aisle, step dad shaking hands with your FI then sitting down, and your dad (since he is the reason your alive ) give you away officially. But all in all it is YOUR choice. Hope it all works out well! Im actually having my dad and my grandpa walk me down the aisle :] My grandpa is almost 81 so I figured this is a good way to have him part of a big celebration being that we dont know how much longer he will be around (sad to say, but hes having some health issues as of late ) My dad is in 100% aggreeance (sp?) and actually recommended it to me :)

I know exactly how you feel except mine is with my mom and dad. I am super close with my mom but only recently have gotten to know my dad. I was very scared to tell my dad that I wanted both of them to walk me down the aisle because he is not a fan of my mom (and vice versa) and I think he feels like it is his job to walk me down but I told him that both of them were going to be walking me down the aisle because it is my wedding and it is what I want. Both of them seem to be okay with it so hopefully it will all work out! Good luck!

My best friend had her dad and step dad walk her down the isle, one on each side. It was really nice! She also did two father daughter dances.
