For those that walked barefoot - did you find the sand pretty rough?

Recommended Posts

So I have been looking at reviews in and around the Melia Cabo Real and some people have said that the sand in Cabo is almost like 'crystallized gravel'.

I was hoping to go barefoot for the ceremony, but if the sands are really rough I may have to think otherwise.

For those of you who have gotten married on the beach in Cabo, how did you find the sand on your feet?

sandals or no sandals is the question :)

Thanks in advance!

I got married at the Sante Fe and went barefoot. But I have stayed at the Melia Real. And can tell you the sand is rougher there. My hubby and I went for a walk down the beach and he had to carry me back. With that said I dont think the cermonys are that far away from the walk way at least the one I saw. You should be fine. I brought sandles just incase the sand was to hot, but didnt need them.

the sand was super hot, and could be rough in parts but I didn't find it to be a big deal. Some areas are worst than others. I found around Dreams it was ok, but as we walked near the Hilton it got pretty bad.

You likely won't be walking far if you're just walking to the ceremony location, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I got married at Dreams and I wore flip flops for the ceremony so I can't say for sure what it feels like to be barefoot...but for our TTD the next day I walked on the sand in my bare feet and didn't notice anything really bad. The temperature is something to think about though if you are getting married mid-day - it will be HOT!

I just returned from a site visit to Cabo last week -- planning my July wedding.

We stayed at the Hilton - The Hilton's beach connects with the Melia Cabo Real beach. We noted a significant change in sand texture when walking from the Hilton beach across the Melia Cabo beach. The Melia Cabo was very rocky... I was barefoot and had a difficult time. Near the water, the sand is more smooth. But as you can see from pictures, the sandy part of the two beaches are fairly large areas. The Hilton's sand was much finer and i didn't have a difficult time on that sand. Hope this information helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
