New and confused!!

Hi there,

My name is Amy and I am recently engaged. My FI, Chad, and I are looking into a destination wedding next year. However, we are so confused as to which country to go to!!

I am originally from the UK and moved over to the States two years ago to be with Chad and we have finally decided to tie the knot!! So, basically we are going to have people flying in from all over the world and we want to make it as special as we can for everyone.

We have both traveled, but predominantly with backpacks and on a tiny budget, and now it is time to do the total opposite. Does anyone have any fantastic ideas of where we could go? Although a beach wedding was my initial reaction, I am also up for considering a vineyard, or anywhere else that would be really very special for us both, and is going to be a spectacular backdrop to the ceremony and photos.

I would love to hear any of your suggestions, particularly if you have been researching for a while and have come across some really fabulous places.

Thanks so much, and congratulations to all of you who are recently engaged or married!!

Aimes x

Congrats on your engagement! I think most of us here would agree that choosing the country and resort was THE hardest part of the whole process! Try to remember that you can't please everybody so go somewhere YOU two want and stay at a resort that YOU like! Don't stress and enjoy this time! WELCOME!

Hi Amy & Chad,

Welcome to the forum! The Finger Lakes area in upstat New York is fabulous. It is just a quick hop(45minutes) from NY city (easy for your guests to fly into) and has several lakes with beautiful vineyards overlooking them. You would lOVE it! the Caribbean beaches are also great. Either way, happy planning,

Congrats and Welcome to the BDW forum. I also agree that finding a country is the hardest part but once you find the country everything will fall into place. The best thing to do right now is to research and "window shop". This website forum is definitely a good place to start. Just look around to see what places catch your eye. Then also consider what you want out of your destination wedding experience and which locations match up with that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
