  1. Hi there, sorry I have been gone for a while, I hope that all your plans are going well. I am back in the wedding organizing zone and I am wondering if anyone has any experience of the Las Palmas Villas, I think that they also have another "villa" Huatulco. If you know anything about either of these places I would love to hear your views. Particularly if you have either had a wedding, or been to a wedding there. Thanks so much, A

  4. Good Morning, I am wondering where people have been going to look for a photographer for their destination wedding? Magazines? Websites? Purely from recommendations? Blogs? I feel that the photos of our wedding day are going to be really important to help me to keep the memories alive. Can anyone suggest where I should start looking? And where have you found particularly useful? Thank you so much, Amy

    hello every one

Congratulations and welcome. Are you well planned or are you just starting to look at everything? This forum is great for information, although I am just learning not to become too overwhelmed with it all. Take care, Amy
  6. You look gorgeous in both dresses, but you look much happier in the ivory dress so it looks as though you have made the best choice. Congratulations!
  7. Congrats, you are several steps ahead of me with your planning!! I would start simultaneously with the STD's and looking for a dress. Finding a fabulous photographer is also a must, as the good ones seem to get booked up fast. I know of someone who does destination photography, Nels Akerlund (Nels Akerlund Weddings) he is awesome. If you go to his website you will see examples, and there is a slideshow of "Jaimie & Woody" and that is a destination wedding in Mexico, so that will give you a really good idea of what you can expect. I have decided that I am not booking a wedding date unless he is free to be there!! A great guy too, I have worked with him in the past. Good luck, take a deep breath and remember that the most important thing is that whatever happens between now and then you will be married to the man of your dreams in nine months! (This is my mum's advice everytime I get panicky about stuff!!) A
  8. Gorgeous dress, I am sure that someone will be purchasing if from you really soon.
  9. Congrats Alexis, We have just come back from a wedding in Ocean Coral in Riviera Maya, we had an amazing time. Have you decided on where you are going to be getting married? Welcome to the forum. A
  10. Congrats! I look forward to hearing your decision. A

  12. Thanks again you are all so helpful, it is so great finding this forum where everyone is so willing to give advice based on their own experiences. So we have started to narrow it down, but probably not in the most conventional of ways!! My FI went to his cousin's wedding in the Dominican Republic before we met, and we just went to our best friends wedding in Riviera Maya - both were stunning weddings but we have decided not to go to either of those areas as we feel that we would be taking away from their wedding experiences, we would rather leave those places special for them. I am really tempted with Italy, I spent some time studying and working out there, and I love it, but we have to work out the logistics and the expense of it. We spent a week in the RIU in Aruba in January, and that was gorgeous, but I want to look more into the Carribbean islands, and also if Italy does not work out then maybe the Californian vineyards. I think that my FI is in for a really fun weekend this weekend with all these discussions ... I am so scared that I am going to turn into bridezilla!!!!! Thanks again to you all, A

    Hello

Welcome and congrats. It is great to find a forum where everyone has something in common, I only recently joined, but I love it!! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful.
  14. Wow, I am so impressed by this organization. I would not qualify, but it is wonderful that such programs exist. Congratulations! Amy
  15. Hey there, I don't yet know where/when I am getting married next year, but the one thing that Chad (my FI) and I have agreed on is that we will be taking Nels Akerlund with us (Nels Akerlund Weddings). I am an art consultant and was meeting with him to buy some photography for a corporation, when I saw his wedding photos I was blown away. He and his wife both photograph, they are absolutely fabulous people who really listen to what the client wants. If you go to his website and look at the slideshow for Jaimie and Woody you will see that he photographs the entire experience, not just the wedding day, his attitude is that the build up is part of the big day, having all of your family and friends together. He is a well respected guy who has photographed for National Geographic and so knows how to capture the beauty of the backdrop. I hope that this is helpful. Take Care, Amy
  16. Hi there, I just wanted to say congrats to Lyn (this is my first time on this message board so I am sorry but you do not know me) I have just returned from a wedding and Ocean Coral, and I wanted to reassure all you brides that your guests will have a wonderful time. We were treated so well, our friends, Rich and Kristi, who got married had a blast and were really pleased with how everything turned out. They too had great photos, and they were very different to Lyn's (they were taken in different areas of the hotel). The private dinner was great, we had the steak and shrimp and it was delicious. Congrats to all of you who have chosen this hotel, you will not be disappointed! Aimes.
  17. Thank you all so much, I appreciate your advise, I will take my time and look through all the posts and I will definitely look into the Finger Lakes area Take care, Amy
  18. Hi there, My name is Amy and I am recently engaged. My FI, Chad, and I are looking into a destination wedding next year. However, we are so confused as to which country to go to!! I am originally from the UK and moved over to the States two years ago to be with Chad and we have finally decided to tie the knot!! So, basically we are going to have people flying in from all over the world and we want to make it as special as we can for everyone. We have both traveled, but predominantly with backpacks and on a tiny budget, and now it is time to do the total opposite. Does anyone have any fantastic ideas of where we could go? Although a beach wedding was my initial reaction, I am also up for considering a vineyard, or anywhere else that would be really very special for us both, and is going to be a spectacular backdrop to the ceremony and photos. I would love to hear any of your suggestions, particularly if you have been researching for a while and have come across some really fabulous places. Thanks so much, and congratulations to all of you who are recently engaged or married!! Aimes x
