Getting resort to respond...help!

Recommended Posts

Have any of you had a problem where you've had a hard time getting a resort to respond to your e-mails, return your phone calls, etc.? Are there any tips or tricks to speed the response? Trying to get married at the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta...

Thanks!

Hey bettertowed,

Yes I feel your pain!!! Its very frustraiting.

I resorted to putting the request number in the subject line ie: "2nd Request" "3rd Request" it helped a little.

And calling directly instead of email did help as well.

I'm not sure about your resort but I know at the Riu they aren't technically required to help you start planning until you get there or a month before at the most.

Luckily I have been able to find most of the info i need on this forum! Maybe some other BDW brides can help answer some of your questions quicker?

Hope this helps!!

What I found when I went down for a site visit is that unlike us they do not live by their computers or pda's. I also found out that most are overwhelmed and while you are planning your wedding now for the future, they most likely are tending to 4 or 5 weddings as we speak. My WC told me Monday mornings is best to reach her.

I "hear hear" everyone on the phone call - I'm not saying Mayan Palace in particular only has this problem, but turn over is HUGE down here in Vallarta for hotel wedding coordinators - they work the poor things to death and pay them very little - Sometimes email can get overwhelming - I'm just one little ole designer and I can leave for 2 hours and come back and have over 30 emails - imagine a hotel wedding coordinator with all the emails for all the weddings they do! Also, many of you up north are wAAAAY better connected than us down here. Most of us do not have a PDA, nor do we get instant emails to our cell phones - it's super expensive to do that. Plus, to be honest, the Vallarta way of life is a bit more laid back than it is up north and "time" is looked at differently - I'm not excusing anybody, eh? Just trying to explain that it's not about you personally (which I'm sure you know but can be frustrating and like "GAAA - MY WEDDING - GAAA" wink.gif).

I concur that a phone call would probably work best - and just keep calling until you get someone - most hotels discourage phone calls outside Mexico, even if they have a special plan - whatever you do, don't try to call between 2-4 when everyone goes to lunch or between 5-7 when most ceremonies take place wink.gifwink.gif. If you can afford it, you may want to hire a coordinator and let her have the headache of dealing with the hotel wink.gif.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
