Newbie - Cancun wedding

Hi all -

I just joined this forum based on my sister in law's rave reviews. She got married in Puerto Vallarta last year and now I'm getting married in Cancun in 7 months! I'm in the early planning stages. I would appreciate any tips or advice anyone has. So far, my most stressful search has been for a photographer. If anyone has any tips for a great, relatively affordable photographer who does weddings in cancun please send them my way :) Looking forward to sharing tips on this forum.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Your sister in law is right, this place is AWESOME! Without this site my wedding wouldn't have been nearly as awesome.

As far as advice on photographers, I suggest bringing one with you. Although it sounds like it'll be more expensive, it really isn't.

For instance, I flew my photographer in for four nights. His travel plus costs ran me $2500. BUT, that covered THREE days of photography and all the photos on a disc and 100 prints! That's REALLY cheap!! So instead of only getting a few hours on my wedding day, we really were able to capture the entire trip for the same price. TOTALLY the best decision I made (well, besides marrying my husband and our resort!).

So, what I would do is contact some photographers. There are a TON on this website that you can send Private Messages to. Then, I'd also contact some photographers in your area who you like their work. I think you'll be happy that you did.

You're gonna LOVE being a part of this amazing forum!!!

My best advice as you start down the road to your wedding day would be just to take your time and do lots of research before you book or buy anything (attire, flowers, you name it!) and make sure it's all that you've envisioned for your BIG DAY!

And that's where this phenomenal site comes in: BDW has proven to be invaluable in my planning, and it's comforting to know that there are other brides and grooms out there experiencing the same highs and lows during their planning process -- a friend is always just on the other side of your computer screen!

CONGRATULATIONS and Welcome to BDW...it's a wedding-planning paradise!

All of these BDW girls are absolutely right. When I first found this forum, I thought I had found gold!! The girls on this forum are here for all of your needs, whether you want to vent about someone or something, get the latest updates on celebrities, or if you're looking for the perfect photographer!

My suggestion would also be to do as much research as possible before you lock anything in. I didn't know a photographer at home that I would have liked to fly down, so I've hired Sascha Gluck. He will be doing our engagement pictures in January and our wedding in June, 2010.

Good luck with planning!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
