Did it happen to one of you?

Alright, like every bride to be, I searched and found the perfect dress. I had to special ordered it and I waited for it for 5 months! Yesterday, I got a phone call... my dress has arrived. I was so excited that I decided to go right away and try it on!!! It fits perfectly fine, except little "normal" alterations that have to be done. The thing is... I find it soooooo ordinary now!!! The dress is of course all paid for, so I can't change unless I loose my money and buy another one. Am I the only one that this happened to?

I think I have read about this happening to many brides. Don't worry. When you next go to try on your dress, bring your jewelry (if you have it), do your makeup and hair and you may change how you feel about it. Once you are all glammed/dolled up, the dress might really stand out and make you feel exactly how you felt when you first ordered it. And, if need be, see if the seamstress can add some detailing to it to make it punch. Best wishes!

it definitely happened to me. When I went to try the dress on for the last fitting I wasn;t in love. I just figured whatever it is just ok. BUT, when I put it on the day of my wedding I was so excited-with my hair and make up done I could not of been happier. I felt amazing in it and it looked great on the beach! I am sure you will feel the same way also

That's why I became a 2 dress bride. The one I ordered just didn't make me feel the way I thought a wedding dress should.

Maybe you could use it as a TTD dress and find another? Or find a creative alterations shop and ask for some ideas to spice it up a little. Either way you probably won't know the difference on the big day and regardless of what you do YOU WILL LOOK AMAZING!

I have heard about this too, and all my friends warned me that after I pick out my dress I am not to look at wedding magazines for dress ideas or watch "Say Yes To The Dress" anymore. I think you should definitely try taking in your jewelry, put on a veil and maybe bring an audience to "ohhh" and "ahhh" before you go try on any other dresses. Post a pic and we will all tell you how beautiful the dress is!

I bought two wedding dresses and I am second guessing both. One I returned to the shop for a credit and the other I have sitting at home, but I am not sure if I will end up using it. I think, for me, it is due to the fact that I simply like the process of buying the dress and that is why I got bored so quickly. But both dresses are really nice so really, I am not worried what I end up with as I am quite easy to please at the end of the day. I wouldn't worry about it; you bought the dress for a reason and if you are not sure why now, you will be on your wedding day :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I actually cried one night about 1 month before my wedding because I felt like my dress was too plain Jane. My intention from the beginning was to get something simple but I was afraid I went too simple and I wasn't going to feel like a bride.

No worries though...as soon as my jewelry was one and I had my shoes on and my hair done, I felt so great and I go the same feeling aobut the dress as I had the first time I tried it on. I really didn't think it could happen but I felt beautiful on my wedding day and I loved and still love my dress!

Good luck and I'm sure it will all be great. You will get that feeling back! Don't worry!

Yes. I was actually way upset because I wasn't sure if I rushed too quickly and didn't really explore all my options. Unfortunately, sometimes they way you invision your wedding changes so much over the course of your planning and since dresses have to be ordered in advance, you don't always get the luxury of time or "do overs."

I will say though that I ended up loving my dress on the day of the wedding. It's hard to continuously look at things and think "I want that!" but you gotta put it out of your mind or you're going to second guess EVERY decision you make. I hope you can find love for your dress again. But if not and you can't really settle, then I'd suggest maybe trying to find one you really do love. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
