"So You Think You Can Dance" Summer 2009

I was really irritated by two things last night,

 

1.) Evan - ok um seriously who the heck is out there actually voting for this guy!? yeah is an ok dancer and it is cool he made the top 20 and all but IT IS TIME TO PACK YOUR BAGS! He wasn't even in the bottom!

 

2.) Katie Holmes - I really didn't get all of the hype about her. don't get me wrong, I think it is great she donated to the charity and all that but SHE DIDN'T EVEN SING LIVE! and I might be wrong here but it really appeared to me like her whole performance was taped! I don't think she was performing live for the audience and I don't even think she was there!!!!!!!!! is she THAT big of a diva that she had to do it that way? she did look pretty though

 

 

other than that, I guess I am in the minority here but I was not shocked to see Jeanette go. The judges were shocked but I really never got into her that much.

oh and I totally agree with everyone else who said that it would have been nice to actually hear from the old cast members....a where are they now type of thing.

 

that would have been a 100 times better than watching Katie holmes

is the absolute final decision left up to the people or the judges?

OMG Totally!! I really wanted to hear from them. Also i REALLY wanted to see katie and josh perform - i think they are my all time faves and they were in the audience but we got nothing...it was such a tease!

I just feel sorry for the girl who has to dance with Evan next week. I don't hate him, but he shouldn't be in the top 6. He is going to bring her down. He is a good dancer, but not top 6 quality.

yeah girls, I'm feeling pretty bitter/disapointed about last night's show too. I wish they would do a Where Are They Now segment since they NEVER even talk about Sabra since she won, wtf is up with that? Do they hate her or something? They mention Joshua all the time! I googled Sabra a while back because I was bored and she's in some modern ballet thing, it's really interesting...why don't they ever mention this?!?! Argh!

 

Andi - I wasn't surprised about Jeanette either but I really wish it would have been Kayla instead...Kayla's a great dancer but there's some kind of smugness about her that just totally puts me off.

LAME. That's all I can say. I was SOOOO disappointed with last night's show. Nigel hyped it all up and then nothing....

 

I did enjoy seeing Hok again and I loved getting to watch some of the favorite dances. Rewatching those just made me realize how sad this season is. The same caliber of dance is not there IMO.

 

Hubby and I were talking this morning about the show. We both wondered if Nigel has always done the "casting" thing for the show or if this year was the first year he decided to forego the best dancers and only pick those that he thinks the voters would like. I think this season was the first time I have heard him say that. Unfortunatley, I don't think he found a lot of dancers that connect with America (and Canadian non-voters. ). Ironic.

 

I still can't help but wonder how Natalie would be doing (Katie's roommate that was cut early in Vegas.)

 

I'm not commenting on Evan. Enough has been said. I DO feel bad for him though. I would hate to be the person that continues to hang on as more talented people go home. It kinda reminds me of that poor red-headed kid on American Idol that one year. He actually looked relieved to go home because America was beginning to hate him. He was pulling a Sanjiya!

 

I agree that the 100th show should have featured past dancers more. Skip the Katie Holmes crap. If she isn't going to perform ON STAGE or actually sing and dance, then bring on the real dancers! I thought her number was a little too easy and I can't really give her props. Who knows how many cuts it took to produce that? I'm sure she shines on broadway, but for this show- I was disappointed to say the least. She did look gorgeous though!

Evan is the new Sanjaya (although not as annoying as Sanjaya)

I totally agree with this, I said that exact thing to DH last night when I was watching. Compartively, this season as been very disapointing vs. past seasons. Season 3 was amazing and Season 4 was good enough and at least had people with huge personalities that you could really root for (like Twitch and Joshua).

Again, totally agree with all of this. I don't know why the F they didn't put Natalie through, she was and IS just as good as Katee. This show makes me crazy some days lol.

I wonder if Natalie will audition again? I think you can keep coming back until you reach the age limit or make the Top 20.

 

Whoever asked about judging, the dancers are eliminated only by votes now the judges can't save them. However, I think their comments are made to influence the people they think should stay. Nigel was all about Jason on Wednesday and was really picking on Evan. I've noticed the same type of comments with Melissa and Kayla.
