have some wine and watch Bride Wars (telll me if its funny!) and enjoy your Sunday afternoon! Since its dying down in Mexico maybe they won't even be doing that in a few weeks!!!

The flu IS dying down in mexico. I also want everybody to think about this rationally. There is ONE death in the US from it - a YOUNG child who came FROM mexico. I'm a masters student in biomedical science it and make me so angry to see how the media sensationalizes this stuff and causes unnecessary panic. Alot of people down in Mexico have no running water or its limited to a few hours day - they do NOT have the sanitation that we do here or you would on a resort. It's also only killing the number of people there it is because they don't have the health care system we do. Most of the people there can't go to a doctor when they get sick, they can't get the medications that will help lower the fevers, etc. THAT is why they are dying from it - not because its such a terrible virus. On another note, the flu vaccine won't do anything for you. It's only made to protect you from a few strains which epidemiologists GUESS will be prevalent in that year. Getting a flu shot won't protect you from every strain, especially a strain that hasn't been seen before. People die every year from the regular flu and you don't see news story after news story about that. Please remember that the media likes a good story, look at the facts rationally and tell your guests to do the same. Remember to wash your hands frequently and you'll be fine. Good luck with your weddings!

Have an awesome time. We are leaving tomorrow and we are so sad! Everything will be perfect and your guests wont even know the difference

mine is my niece (she's my matron of honor ... i was her MOH 4 years ago). she has already cancelled TWICE. once when she thought she was pregnant (she wasn't) and then later when she decided she "couldn't afford it." mind you, my mother and sisters knew how important it was to me that she be there, and they all have chipped in to pay for her (and her husband's) ENTIRE TRIPS. so she and her husband, by crying poor, are getting a totally free trip, and now they might cancel? when it's not even their money that might not get refunded? are you effing kidding me?!?!?!

going to take some lexapro and pour myself some of jaimelynne's anti-swine wine in preparation for the dreaded phone call.

Girls I'm so sorry to all those who have guests who are backtracking sad.gif I haven't had any yet, but I think that's cuz the wedding is still about 50 days away. Do your guests know yet that the flu is really starting to die down especially in MX? There are tons of new articles, and I anticipate many, many more that will come out this week that stress that this flu isn't as bad as they thought it would be.

Maybe a mass email blitz to your guests of all these new articles will help?

HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!!!!! hey...my bags are still packed can I come with you? my clothes are a bit dirty but I am sure I can get laundry done at the Moon Palace wink.gif Trust me...you shouldn't worry about us here in the US...the MAIN reason I tried to keep you all updated as much as possible while we were in Mexico was because the outbreak was happening right as we were down there so I was hoping to be able to bring some kind of calm to all of you brides just getting ready to leave...that and our family was freaking just as they were returning home and we were still in Mex, so I was trying to keep updated on really what was happening!

Jaime, really don't stress about it too much! let me see if i can find info on what they are considering a high temp. mind you I was kind of worried as Reggie had a bit of a head cold for the last 4 days we were there...he was fine. my temp was 36 Celsius...honestly not sure what that is in Fahrenheit...let me do some looking around and see what I can find wink.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. Most of mine that have canceled are either pregnant, have a small child at home (in my MOH's case) and/or are going on the advise of their doctors not to go. I personally think they made the judgment call too early (last week) and they have already canceled. What can I do? I'm just trying to focus on those that ARE going to be there than those that aren't. They'll regret it when they get the wedding photos and they aren't in them. sad.gif

My heart goes out to you...I'd be so frustrated. Especially since this is the second time!

On a side note, I think JaimeLynne needs to trademark the term "anti-swine wine"!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
