We are getting legally married a week after we get home. We will celebrate our anniversary on November 12, our Mexico wedding day.

We're getting "legally" married after we return from Mexico from our wedding in Dec. We will be celebrating our mexico wedding date as our actual wedding day.

We were going to do the legalize beforehand, but now we are going to wait afterwards.

We are seriously considering doing it in the airport as we wait for our flight, lol!! Our officiant is my father, and they live in Alberta so its much easier to have him do it when he's already going to be in the airport - plus all our attendants and whatnot will be there as well!!

Besides, IMO the "legal" part is just signing a piece of paper, anyway. If I could fly the document down with me and have it be legal in Ontario I would - but apparently you have to actually be IN Ontario for it to actually be legal. Which is kind of too bad.
          21 people + Bride & Groom booked!!

I don't if/or where there is a new one but I'm not getting married until May 14, 2011 and we are legally getting married sometime before the end of this year so that we can get a bigger tax return but our wedding in Cabo will be our actual wedding anniversary. We're just gonna go to the courthouse in everyday clothes and sign the paper and not make a big deal about it. I see at as just another part of the process to have my dream wedding in Cabo.

We did the legal stuff in Alberta one month before our Mexico wedding. We didn't keep it a secret from the wedding guests, and they all completely understood our reasoning for doing the legal paperwork in Canada. We did say vows and do the kiss and all that at the legal ceremony, and we had as our marriage officiant a former city councillor that my hubby's parents knew, so it was kind of nice.
The way I see it, a "symbolic" ceremony is just that -- a symbol of your love for and commitment to each other. That was our wedding day, for sure -- the day we stood up in front of our family and friends and pledged our lives to each other. If we hadn't considered it our "real" wedding, than why would we have put so much effort and thought into planning it?
There will always be people that complain, no matter what you decide. I'm so glad we decided to do the legal paperwork in Canada. It really reduced the stress and hassle, and it in no way took away from our special day in Mexico.

I'm considering doing just that for the same reason (and so I could have my married name on the passport and not go through the hassle of changing it later) We're not getting married until September 2011, so we could even do the same date, this year, for our legal day.
