came to see her daddy for sit down man to man
It wasn't any secret i'd be asking for her hand
I guess that's why he left me waiting in the living room by myself
with at least a dozen pictures of her sitting on a shelf

- Chorus -

She was playing Cinderella
She was riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes i'm Prince Charming
But to him i'm just some fella
riding in and stealing Cinderella

I leaned in towards those pictures to get a better look at one
When I heard a voice behind me say "Now, ain't she something, son?"
I said "Yes, she quite a woman"
and he just stared at me
Then I realized that in his eyes she would always be

Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes i'm Prince Charming
But to him i'm just some fella
riding in and stealing Cinderella

He slapped me on the shoulder
Then he called her in the room
When she threw her arms around him
That's when I could see it too

Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
If he gives me a hard time
I can't blame the fella
I'm the one who's stealing Cinderel
Too funny you mentioned this. My mom told me last night to listen to this song to see if I liked it. I went on Freenapster.com to hear it, and I think its a very pretty song, but I feel like i wanted something more personal between me and my dad.. this one is kinda like the FI singing.. now what I mean?

Haa! Must be all the emotional song talk and Valentine's day and almost Friday (that enough excuses).

My sis recently got married and used My Little Girl so I was trying not to copy. Love that one though!

my dad was always a huge muppets fan and ever since i was a baby and while growing up my dad would sit me on the floor with him and we would watch the muppets and eat liccore. so my intial thought was that rainbow connection by kermit would be the best pick but then i'd seen it used too much so it turned me off.

i came up with a great alternative! daughter by loudon wainwright III. it is VERY appropiate for my father and i, it emcompasses our relationship to a tee!

what can i say i'm a daddy's girl!

OK girls... I need suggestions... My biological father was never a part of my life. My step dad has been there since I was three and has raised me. BUT we have never been really really close. I am trying to figure out if I should opt out of the father daughter dance. I am having him give me away. What do you girls think? Can you think of a song that would work? Should I opt out? I'm so jealous of you girls with the close bond with your Dad.. treasure it always.

  • 5 months later...

wow you girls totally made me cry!

i originally wanted to dance with my father to that tune from "the godfather" ... it's his very favorite movie and he used to call me his little mafia princess (we are SO not *that* italian, so it's more of an inside joke between us). then my niece got married a few years ago and danced with my dad (her grandfather) since her father wasn't there, and SHE used it. so now it's out. i was upset over it at the time, but i got over it.

except that he heard that "i loved her first" song and loves it ... i *really* don't like country but i have to admit the lyrics are beautiful. i just really didn't want a weepy song.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
