My OOT Bags~ the big hits and the things that weren't used

Recommended Posts

Thank you all so much for the info, this site has been soo helpful throughout this whole process.

Did anyone have any troubles bringing stuff to a different country? We are planning our wedding in Mexico, and I'm worried that if I purchase something liquid or expensive, they will give me trouble bringing it through customs. Has anyone run into this?

Also- My fiance feels that we are doing too much for our guests already (there is a couple that we are paying for). But there are a lot of people that are spending a lot of money and time for our wedding. So I scheduled a "spa day" on me ofchorse for my two girlfriends with all kinds of treatments. Is this enough, or should I still consider doing the OOT bags for guests that wont be at the spa?

I think its nice to do a little OOT bags since people travel so far but its hard to not go over board with it. You want to make sure to give them stuff that they will actually use and not just leave in the hotel room

I've been told that shipping to Mexico is a difficult task because it takes forever to get there, and things get lost easily. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to pack out OOT stuff.

Hits

-Bubba Mugs (These were the biggest hit and used by all our guests everyday)

-Cards

-Bite sized chocolates for snacks

-First Aid Kits (Bandaids and Meds)

-Ugly green material (This was handed out before we left and was tied onto everyones suitcases. Then at the airport, a few people went over and started grabbing everones suitcases just by seeing the ugly green material)

-Bath puff (Since wash cloths are a rare commodity in the Dominican, everyone enjoyed their body puff thingy)

Misses

-Bath bombs (I made these and didn't even hand them out to most people as I forgot at first and then the humidity down there got into them and they didn't fizz all that great anymore. My daughter and my sister used most of them up)

Thats a great idea using the "green material". I think I'll do that too for my guests since we're all flying down together. Thanks for the tip!

I too have been racking my mind with if I want to try and send things to in advance. I am getting married in Jamaica at the RIU.. Has anyone ship anything to them before/yet?

Ooo anyone with great hits for a July Jamaica wedding?

We gave DIY luggage tags with our brochures so all our guests will have the same tag on their bags, but the fabric idea is cute.

I have read many forums saying the DR doesn't provide wash cloths. I would check with the resort before going out and purchasing. All the times we've been there, our hotels have always had them.

@@itswrightsc You have to do a small bottle of Jamaican rum in your bags (Wray & Nephew). That can only be brought in Jamaica & it's STRONG! Like 100 proof!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
