Did you buy it from your tanning salon?? Maybe you can return it saying you are not happy with it and get a new one?

What lotion were you using?

You could try a lotion with a lighter bronzer or none at all. My salon recommends that you bring in one of their spray bottles and spray your palm and wipe down your hands after applying the lotion. They also will wipe your hands and feet if you do a spray tan so it comes out perfectly.

Kathy, you're lucky that you're figuring all this stuff out NOW and not the day before your wedding!! I would try to return it if you aren't happy with it. My favorite sunless tanning lotion is by St. Tropez. I've seen it at Sephora if you have that store. It made me the tannest I've ever been, and it was totally natural too!!

If you're still stained or streaky, try scrubbing/exfoliating with a loofah and it'll fade quickly. The other suggestions sound good too!

Thanks again for all of your helpful suggestions ladies! I went to the tanning place after my workout tonight and they traded my old lotion for a new one without bronzer in straight up...thank goodness!

KimmyG - Yeah, I'm glad I'm figuring this out now too. In August I started tanning at the salon and had to stop because I got a huge allergic reaction to what I presume was the hemp in my lotion and broke out in to a huge rash. I'm so nervous and stressed that it will happen again (right before my wedding of course, Murphy's law lol) so I'm taking as many precautions as I can. I made sure the lotion I got tonight had a) no hemp and B) no bronzer haha. I got an Australian Gold tanning accelerator, so far so good. cheesy.gif

I self tan a lot due to the dance competitions. The easiest way to get it off is to soak in warm water and baking soda. then use a loofa. Baby oil helps also.

Mystic tan is ok, to keep it going I use HEMPZ w/ self tanner- the lotion is great for after tan and also builds gradually. wash your hands after. Or prior to using the self tanner lotion your ankles, elbows and knees, and hands... This will guard against it soaking in these places. then you can apply the self tanner.

BTW- any bar soaps will stip the color faster.

use CVS body wash instead.

Hope this helps!

i worked at a tanning salon for 7 years growing up! make sure you put normal lotion on your hands before you go in with the bronzer lotion! Its because your hands are dry and your hands will just soak up the bronzer! hope this helps for the future!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
