MRS SMITH!  Welcome back and congrats to you and your HUBBY! (Does that shound weird?)undecided.gif

Your review was great.  Sorry to hear about the reception fiasco.  I can imagine this being an issue since when the resort is fully booked.

Did you use Rashel for make-up?  You and your groom look great!  Did you add fabric to the huppa?  I know I have more questions but I can not think of them all right now.  I'll be back...

How come this was not verbalized? I have been reading other brides on here able to do a private reception. Is 50 a must at the Gourmet? how long were you allowed to have semiprivate? Did they work something out since the communication was poor? How was the music bar? How much? Did Nicole set up all your decorations? Did anyone go to the spa for hair, nails, or make up? How did the weather turn out? Windy?

I don't know why no one informed me until I got there, she said I needed 40 pp to privatize, they didn't care if i was willing to pay for 40 I needed 40 bodies.  It was semi-private because pillars separated us from other diners, we were there for a while over the normal time about 2 hours, people were waiting for us to take pictures before they started eating.  The bill was much less than expected and the music bar was great it was a lil big for my group though. they only charged $350 for the music bar for the DJ, drinks were free because we were at a bar.  She set up all the decor , I told her what to do and they did a better job than expected. No Spa, it was windy but not too bad.

And yes, the $800 privatizes the restaurant and pays for dinner but the $18 per person covers cake and champagne on top of that.

Checked out your review!  You looked beautiful!  Sorry to hear about the private reception not working out.  This is the reason why I didn't choose the Iberostar when we were looking at resorts.  I was told that there was no way I could have a private reception as I was only expecting about 25 people.  It was disappointing then, so I couldn't imagine how disappointed you must have been when you were expecting one all along.  It looks like such a beautiful resort.

Mrs. Smith,

Did Nicole give you an option to switch to the Meditarranean restaurant or was that too booked as well...I think the info says 25 minimum. Doyou think that is a better alternative for smaller groups.

If a reception was semi private do you recommend still decorating?

Did you get in the pool the days before the wedding? I will be there 3-4 days before the wedding as well. How did the days before the wedding come out?

The meditarranean was booked as well.  We still decorated with centerpieces and candles and it was beautiful.  I didn't get near water beofre the wedding couldn't get my hair wet lol.  I had a welcome party and the lobby bar and we went to Margaritaville afterward and or rehearsal was at Aunt Ruby's and the girls and guys separated after that.

Congratulations Mrs. Smith!

First and foremost, you were a beautiful bride and I can't believe you're married and back already (you are totally a friend in my head from this board LOL).

Thanks for all of the information, I am sure there are many of us that benefited from your posts.  At the end of the day, the most important thing is to remember the great things about your wedding and enjoy the start of your lives as Mr & Mrs Smith!!!!

I'm off to read your review and CALL Nicole now, as I too am totally willing to just pay for 50 people (currently we only have 20 booked and 47 that RSVP'd yes).

Congrats again.

Speaking of Ipod, how did you manage the music for the ceremony?  We only have a few songs to play but IDK how that's handled.  Is it best on CD or Ipod?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
