Resort of my choice or resort that everyone can afford???

Recommended Posts

Thanks girlssss. i guess i have to start making that list and at the end think about my FI and I. Just hard when everyone tries to put their two cents in. Sooo annoying. People that know nothing about DW all of a sudden become experts.

no matter what you choose you won't please everyone so do what *you* want. i took price for our guests into consideration because it was very important to us that our close family and friends were with us. we actually *wanted* them all at the same resort with us (i know, we're insane, LOL). like harty, part of our reason for dreams was children, and i don't think any are coming. in fact, the people we did the most to accommodate are the ones who now won't be coming. we just got lucky that in the process of trying to make others happy, we still ended up with a resort we loved.

just make sure your wedding resort will allow you to get married there even if the majority of your guests stay elsewhere. i think some places insist on 80% of your wedding guests staying on property. and like others have said, make sure guests staying elsewhere are aware of the cost of day passes ... it could end up they aren't actually saving that much by staying somewhere else, between transportation to and from the resort and the day pass, ya know?

I agree with the most everyone's sentiments!!

We was actually struggling with the same issue.. we ended up choosing a more cost-effective resort so we can be with our family/friends! For our needs, having a big party for a week with our 'nearest and dearest' is more important than having a more 'posh' resort with perhaps more beautiful/romantic scenery (e.g. for me.. no kids LOL).

I am considering adding a few days to our trip and for the last few days after everyone leaves spending a few days at a luxury resort/spa just for honeymoon romance.

It's completely up to you!! If you have fallen completely in love with a place and that's where you picture getting married; it is YOUR wedding! People can stay at another more cost-effective resort.. perhaps provide them with information for an alternate less costly resort and your resort of choice so they can decide for themselves.

I too had the same problem and when it was all said and done I choose to have my wedding where I originally wanted to have it. The reality is you can't do this day over if you dont get it right the first time. So make your decision based on what you want. Most of your family will do there best to be there an if you have to shell out some money for guest passes for other important people budget that in as you plan your wedding. Hope this helps!

I really struggled with this as well. I spent two or three months just trying to find the "perfect resort" and ended up going with the cheaper resort. I am so happy I did. Some of my relatives and friends that I would have never imagined could come have decided that they are coming. It means so much to me that I don't even care that I have the resort of my dreams. Plus we are going to my dream resort for our honeymoon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
