  1. We did the private reception. We had appetizers and drinks, followed by salad, then dinner, then dessert. I highly recommend the baked Alaska (Jamaican style)... delicious. We had about 50 guests, so they allowed us to choose two dinner options and our guests could choose. We went with the beef tenderloin and the seafood option. Both were very good! Everything was excellent. We would make this choice again! We were very pleased!
  2. Congratulations! Your wedding was beautiful!! Looking back at yours... made me think of mine at Beaches Boscobel. Ahh... the warm fuzzy feelings! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi Michelle! My husband and I were married at Beaches Boscobel this past January. Let me see if I can answer some of your questions... Photography- We hired the Beaches photographer for the bare minimum. To be honest, we were not overly impressed with these photos. As it turns out, one of our family friends is a fantastic photographer and was able to get great photos for us during the entire trip. My cousins, my sister, and my aunts also added to the collection. We created a website and asked all guests to upload photos of the trip. The negative of that... I have about 1000 photos, it is a lot ot search through. The positive... I have some really great photos. To me it was worth the time to look through them all and pick the ones that I like best. All of our guests had access too... so everyone came away with exactly the pics they wanted. We chose to do the private reception as we had 50 guests, which is too many for a dining room. In my opinion, it was worth every penny. We used standard linens, minimal flowers, and hired the DJ. All of my guests said how much they loved it. I would do it exactly the same way if i had to choose again... The location of the reception is the terrace off the Italian restaurant. Beatiful setting. We chose the garden for our wedding. It was so beautiful, no flowers were really even needed. The photographer did take us down to the beach to do some photos, so we do have some with the beach in the background. The cost did add up... but it was still less than we would have paid for a home town wedding. My cousin is planning her home town right now... and i am even more happy that we did the destination. Much less stress!! pm me if you want to see the link to my photos.
  5. Congratulations! You will be very happy with your choice... I know because my husband and I were married at Beaches Boscobel in January. Everything was fantastic!! If you search the site, you will see there are tons of pics from Boscobel. If you can find them, pm me and I will send you the link to my wedding pics from my family and friends. Have fun and enjoy your time planning!
  6. Hi Melissa! My husband and i were married at Boscobel this past January. We had several children at our wedding... and they LOVED it. In fact, my little niece Sarah is determined to go back for her own wedding... hee-hee! Everything about the day was wonderful! You will be so happy with your choice. If you search 'beaches boscobel" on this site... you will find tons of information. Congratulations!
  7. Katie, Wow! You made a great choice. My husband and I were married at Beaches Boscobel on January 11, 2009. Everything was perfect... more than I imagined it would be. The wedding planner takes care of everything... it was so easy to plan. Congratulations!
  8. You will be so happy you chose Beaches Boscobel! I loved every single thing about my wedding there :-) With only 14 people, I would just make reservations at one of the restaurants there. You shouldn't have any problem. We recommend the Venetian, we liked it better than the Arizona and you can't take kids to Eleanors. I brought my own flowers with me (they aren't real flowers) just to save money. But... the standard bouquet they gave me would have worked fine... it was very pretty :-) Enjoy...
  9. Wow! Amy, you did a fantastic job pulling everything together. Everything is beautiful. Enjoy your wedding! I can't wait to see pics when you return!
  10. My husband and I just got married at Beaches Boscobel last weekend. I cannot say enough good things about it! We had 44 guests, including 6 kids and singles of various ages. Kamesha (Beaches WC) told us they did 3 weddings the week we were there. We were entertained and found so much to do, it was sad when we left. All of our guests had a fabulous time... and fabulous rooms. We went to Sandals Dunn River for our honeymoon. While we enjoyed it as well, it was crowded and the energy is different than Beaches. It is very low key, relaxed, and couple oriented. We did see a wedding every day we were there, so they do quite a few. Whatever choice you make... it will be a good one. We prefered Beaches because of the "high energy" atmosphere... but that is just us.
  11. Hey Abbie, I will gladly make the pics larger... when I learn how. Can you give me some direction or point me in the right direction? I did use a photobucket account and played with it for some time. However, being technology challenged at times... this was the best I could do. Thanks!
  12. RECEPTION- A+++ Our reception was held on the Venetian Terrace. The tables were set beautifully. We brought seating cards with us, which the staff set out before the reception. We hired the DJ for 3 hours... We chose great food. We had Appleton Rum Shrimp and the Tropical Salad. Our guests had a choice of either Beef Tenderloin or Mahi Mahi as their entree. (Guests do need to choose ahead of time... so either include that on wedding RSVP or call each one and ask). Kids had chicken strips and french fries. For dessert we chose the Pineapple Baked Alaska and it was beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. It was our favorite dessert on the island. The cake was a white wedding cake. Plain... but still very pretty. Overall, our wedding weekend at Beaches Boscobel was nothing less than perfect! I am happy to answer questions if you are planning to marry there in the future... it allows me to think back on my perfect day! I have over 1000 pics I am willing to share. I know when I was planning I wanted to see everything I could get my eyes on, so just let me know :-) After our 4 fabulous days at Beaches... my hubbie and I spent the next 4 days at Sandals Dunn River. We needed a rest :-) Finally.... DONE!!
  13. Ceremony cont'd- A+++ My father said the big surprise of the day was the pastor. We were worried the ceremony would feel very "cookie cutter", but it did not. The pastor was warm and personable. We added the sand ceremony for something a little different. My friend read a passage from the bible for us. We brought our own CD with ceremony music, but the resort had plenty to choose from had we not. We brought bubbles and a program/fan for each guest. The bubbles were a big hit, especially with the kids! MORE TO COME...
  14. Ceremony- Because we had such a large number of guests (44) we chose the East Lawn as our ceremony location. We used just two floral arrangements in the front for two reasons... we felt like more might take away from the beauty of Jamaica... and we were trying to stay in a budget. My dress was simple, but still a wedding dress. My BMs wore dresses of their choice in the color "pool" which I loved with the tropical surroundings. The BM wore a lime green camp shirt while our fathers and the ring bearer wore yellow. My husband was to wear a carribean blue camp shirt, but we had to find a quick last minute replacement as he shrunk out of 2 previous shirts. Losing 68 pounds will do that :-) MORE TO COME...
  15. Dunns River Falls Tour- A In honor of My Aunts 50th Birthdays (Becky and Debbie), we climbed the Dunns River Falls on Saturday morning. We used an outside tour group due to the fact that there were 46 of us and we were trying to keep the cost down. I will send you the website if you want it... just pm me! As you can see... we had a rowdy group... and the time of our lives! Rehearsal Dinner- A Although we had no rehearsal for our ceremony, my FIL really wanted a rehearsal dinner... FIL gets what FIL wants... isn't that what every good DIL says :-) We held the dinner at the Venetian Restaurant. The food was delicious... the best we had at the resort. I had the beef tenderloin, and my husband had the lamb. It was fabulous. Everyone at the table agreed... the best calamari we had ever tasted. Once the dinner was over, we went to the piano bar for a few tunes. Last pic... our official wedding drink... the BBC. This drink was chosen by our guests as their favorite, so don't forget to try one for yourself when you are there! More to Come...
  16. Welcome Party- A My then FI and I hosted a "Welcome to Our Wedding" Party on Thursday night. We had nametags so that everyone could learn the names of other guests and how they were connected to Hal and I. We met at the Bayside Bar so the kids could swim or watch the stage entertainment. Drinks were plentiful and it was so good to see everyone! Friday day of Fun!- A There was so much to do at the resort. Our guests snorkeled, sailed, swam, did the water slides, and relaxed by the beach. The weather was great... not too hot, but enough sun to keep you warm. Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties Because so many of our guests were from out of town, we decided to do our parties right at the resort. The Bachelor Party was held at the Bayside Bar. Sports on the tv... Vodka and Rum shots lined up... The Bachelorette Party started on the pool deck with a Toilet paper wedding dress contest. A dance line around the pool... then off to the piano bar! My crown/veil says "Spinster No More" More to Come...
  17. First... thanks for the BDW site and all who participate. Over the past 6 months I learned so much about planning a destination wedding, stole your fabulous ideas, and cheered you all on as you married for happily every after. BDW Rocks! My husband and I were married at Beaches Boscobel Resort in Ocho Rios Jamaica on January 11, 2009 at 4 in the afternoon. We had 44 guests in attendance. Our wedding day was PERFECT... better than I ever could have hoped for. We would not change anything. For those of you still to be married at Beaches Boscobel, you can breathe a sigh of relief. You made the PERFECT choice. The wedding coordinator, Kamesha is a dream to work with. She made sure we had everything we wanted from table set up, to a gluten free meal for one of our guests. She is FABULOUS! Let me get started on the review... The Bus Ride- B We arrived in Montego Bay on Thursday afternoon. We checked into the Sandals Lounge and had just started to sip our Red Stripe when we were whisked away to our bus. There were 10 other guests from our wedding already on the bus (guests arriving from Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Phoenix) so we were thrilled to see them all so soon! The bus ride is long... 2 hours. But the driver was entertaining and informative, so the ride went quickly. The Resort- A Once we arrived at the resort we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we had been upgraded to an ocean front room. The view was beautiful and the room was very clean. We were very happy with the room. Our other guests had all reserved Premium Family Suites. There were very large, with balconies, and great views. All of our guests were very happy with their rooms. The resort itself is beautiful! The pics do not do it justice! MORE TO COME...
