    I missed you girls!

Who would have thought that here in KY, we'd get hit by Ike?

Sunday, we basically had a category 1 hurricane, just without the water. The strongest winds were recorded at 90mph. Trees are down everywhere! Over 5000 powerlines are down and 300+ poles were snapped. To top it off, a lot of the crews were down in Texas helping with relief efforts and had to come back.

400,000 were without power on Sunday. They've been great about getting stuff back up, but there are still like 150,000 homes without. School is cancelled for the rest of the week. It could take another 2 weeks to get everything back to normal.

Monday I spent my birthday in the dark. DH tried to have flowers delivered, but I wasn't in the office because I was trying to move all of my food out of the walk-in fridge and freezer so I didn't lose it.

Luckily, we have power at the new house and nothing was damaged. The old house is still dark, so we can't move or clean, and it got hit pretty hard with tree limbs that fell in the driveway and tore off the gutters.

To top all of this off, I am slammed with Ryder Cup activities this week. I'm cooking at this house a company rented for the week to host clients. It doesn't have any electricity anywhere close. I have learned to cook by flash light and I did get a festive forehead light (like miners wear).

I'm exhausted and I miss BDW!

    Thanks for letting me rant!

That is crazy Erin. Hope everything starts going better for you. Happy belated birthday, and make sure you have extra batteries for that miners hat just in case there still is no power!

I live in Ohio and we were hit pretty hard also. My electric was only out for 24 hours but there are people that still have no electricity. I was in a panic on Monday because I only had a couple of days before we left for our wedding and I had so much to do. I couldn't do sh*t without electricity. But it's all good and we leave in 1 hour! I'm glad you are alright, but don't stress yourself out.

I'm so sorry you got hit so hard. Thank God your new house is ok. It is so odd because I live in Texas and we got some wind and cool weather but nothing stormy at all. I can't believe how many northern states got hit so hard! Hang in there and you will be BDWing again in no time

Wow! What a pain! And I'm sorry your birthday was dark. Was it a little romantic at least.

Good news is that the new house survived intact.

                  We missed you!!!!

Wholly smokes Erin! That totally bites about work, the old place, and your birthday. I would be at a complete loss as what to do.. BUT you do have really cool headwear now. LOL.

Man what a pain! We were lucky and did not lose electricity but my parents did and my grandma still has none. She has been staying with my parents and I think my dad will be lucky if she doesn't kill him before it is all over with..lol
BTW Happy belated birthday. We share the same day!
