DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Not a lot of activity on here lately ladies. How is everyone doing on their planning??

I just put in a vistaprint order yesterday for my lawn signs, pre-travel brochures and luggage tags. There's a big 80% off sale right now if any of you were waiting on that to order. I will be ordering most of my OOT bag items within the month here so I am just trying to finalize all of those choices right now. I had my second dress fitting last week and had the neckline of my dress completely altered and am soooo in love with it! Couldn't be happier that I changed it. FI will be ordering his and his groomsmen's outfits from studiosuits.com within the next few weeks. Most of my bmaids live out of the province and will be visiting this weekend for thanksgiving so I will be doing their measurements for their dresses on Friday. I am buying a bunch of different types of liquor and we will be attempting to concoct a signature purple martini for the wedding on Friday night too, can't wait! Next Thursday I go in for lasik eye surgery to correct my vision, I am super excited to never have to wear glasses or contacts again, yippeeeee.

Hope all is going well with you and your planning. And to all my Canadian brides, happy thanksgiving!!

It has been pretty quiet on this thread lately!  I leave 6 weeks from today and am getting SOOOooOOOO excited!  I started putting together my OOT bags this past weekend and are pretty much done.  Yippie!  The only things left on the to-do list are alter FI's suit, order the GM gifts (we're thinking engraved cigar cases and will put Mexican cigars in there when we arrive), waiting for the programs to come in so I can assemble, we're ordering our wedding bands on Thursday and will be sending our pre-travel brochures next week.  The main thing on our list is the MUSIC!!! Ahhh what a task.

I had my first dress fitting last week and just love love love it!  The BM dresses are LATE and I'm starting to freak out but the shop keeps telling me they will be here "soon".  Trying not to go bridezilla and will give them one week before loosing it.

mllek1986  let me know what you do with your purple cocktail - we want to do something similar!!!  How fun!

I've been working with Fatima and she's been pretty good lately.  We have had most of the details decided on for a while, so fingers crossed we're in good shape!

Has anyone gotten married at Dreams PV lately?  I'd love to hear an update!

Just wanted to post a quick update - 30 days till our wedding!

Nothing much left to plan.  Fatima has been great, our ceremony script has been written & sent to the officiate, hair & make-up appointments are confirmed, menu is set, decorations & flowers picked out, we finished our thank you cards & menus and my sweetie picked up his suit from the tailor yesterday.  We are pretty much set.  Yay!

Still on our to-do list: finish the playlist (SarahBen2011 - I feel your pain!  It's such a daunting task.), a few little DIY projects, and final dress fittings for me.

We are so excited and can't wait to get on the plane and just enjoy our time in PV with our favorite people!

How is planning going for everyone else??

Hey ladies!

We leave for PV in about 45 days and still a quite a bit to do but its all coming together very fast now... i guess it has to ... its crunch time!

Where is everyone getting their hair and makeup done? are you getting someone to come to the resort?

I still need to decide on where to get hair and makeup done and im having a hard time deciding as hair and makeup can be pretty important on THE DAY!!!

I have Mishka designs creating our maraca's in Coral and Aqua  and cant wait to go down and see them!!

So exciting as everything comes together and we all get closer to our departure dates ladies!!

Congrats B Gardner!   When is your wedding day?  Ours is 11/18/11 so I think you are right after us!?

We're getting our hair/make-up done at the salon at Dreams.  We have appointments confirmed and they seem really great to work with.

My 2nd fitting is at the end of Oct and I'm going to do a hair trail that morning so I can see how my hair looks with my dress/veil!  And this way I can bring a picture to Dreams and show them exactly what I want :-)

There is a great cigar shop downtown. If you grab a taxi at Dreams and ask to go to the flea market/ el centro, have them drop you off at the beginning of the market (they usually do anyway). There is a cigar shop next door to the flea market it has a statue of a man dancing in front. The owners are great, the prices are reasonable, and cigars are delicious!!

Hey ladies,

Just a quick question for you past brides- did any of you not use the bamboo runner for your aisle? I am not wanting to use it but I am worried that I will have to because the sand will be too hot to go barefoot on (our ceremony is at 3:30pm), thoughts? Also, I am having a Shoes Optional/De-Sanding station for my guests to go barefoot and I don't want them to burn their feet either.

Thanks

And for those ladies wondering how the purple cocktail making went, we decided on a drink that is called Arabian Nights (says my bartender bridesmaid who helped me make it), it is blue curacao, raspberry sour puss, and vodka... it turned a gorgeous dark purple! Then I will have the bartender serve it with a twist of lime on the rim to incorporate my lime green colour. Here's a pic of my inspiration:
Purple Martini

It is fairly sweet so I think people will only be able to handle a few... or I could just tell the bartender to amp up the vodka.... :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
