I saw recently on Dreams Facebook page that they have a new gastronomic wedding menu. Does anybody know what this is?

Yeah, I needed to cool down too, Kerrib! She emailed me back and just said I need emails. I had told her, well our deposit is the confirmation about prices. I also mentioned how completely outrageous it is to raise prices 50% and more. Don't think she likes me very much now! I did say I knew it was not her fault or decision, but I was pretty mad. Unfortunately, I don't have any emails confirming prices for the actual reception, so we are stuck. We will try to negotiate once we are there, I guess. Really no other choice. I decided to just stop stressing and accept it!!

Gastronomic refers to food of a high quality so its probably just a fancy way of saying they have a new menu.

Good for you to say something.... your deposit should be a confirmation of the prices as they are at that time. How are you suppose to plan costs when you don't know what prices will be x number of months down the road?? That's ridiculous and bad business practices. Stick to your guns! Good luck!

Yes, especially if you have emails with quotes say that is the price you want and be firm about it. Not your problem if the old WC gave you prices that have now changed. If that was the cost when you started planning (especially once you've paid your deposit) then that is the price you should pay. I printed off probably 100 pages of emails to bring just in case there was any issues. We had one issue where I asked Louise via email that if we rent DJ, sound system, and dance floor for $850 (as shown in the 2011 price list) does that give us the sound system for the ceremony as well and she wrote back confirming that it did, but when we got there she was oblivious that she had said it was so I said I had the email where she said yes so she included it in that price (I guess it should have been extra for the ceremony time, but too bad...that's what she quoted me so that's what we got). Good luck

Good ideas about the bridesmaids' flowers too!

Yeah good example. I emailed her and asked "so I know that the sound system is included for the ceremony. How much does it cost for the reception?"  I pretty much knew it was not included for the ceremony, but I wanted to see what she would say.  She replied "no it is not included for the ceremony, The cost for the whole wedding is $450."  That is actually less than Rebecca quoted. I feel a little bad about being so sneaky, but oh well!

That is my point exactly! I did mention what bad business practice that is and that we feel taken advantage of. I strongly feel our deposit is confirmation and I will stick to that! Brett is all worried that she is going to do a bad job on our wedding now. But you know what? If she does, we will have more of an argument for a discount. Although I would rather have a smooth wedding than save money, as I'm sure you can agree Dream2011!

For sure...I would rather ours have gone smoothly and paid full price, but since it did not the discount we demanded at least made us feel better. It's your day...don't let anyone get away with messing it up!

well with all my freaking out, we are looking into getting a day-of coordinator. We have contacted Chic Concepts and Mar Weddings. Both are reasonable. So even though I really don't want to add on to the budget, I feel like it might prevent me from having a heart attack! Anyone have any experience with either?

Any of the past brides. Did you have children at your wedding? If so, what did you do with them during the reception? I'm not saying this in an insensitive way, I just want to know if we need to have a plan. We have several children 6 and under that will be at the wedding and I know they won't last the entire reception. Does the resort have "night care" or will the parents of the guests just retire with their children?
