  1. No problem. You will meet with Carlos the day before for a rehearsal and you can tell him then that you will need him to call vans. It was no problem. We even had a guest that had too much to drink and Carlos took care of it(got a cab and sent him back) without us even knowing! (he didn't kick him out or anything - the guest did not want us to know and felt bad so carlos just handled it) I'd say my dress was medium heavy, I purposely did not get one with tons of crinolin underneath. It was all lace on the top layer, which kept getting snagged on the steps. I think wedges would be perfect! I wish I had done that! It was about 85 degrees. We moved the ceremony later so we did not get caught after sunset. Im sure you would want the same. The problem was that during the ceremony, the sun was right above us and it just beat down. I am generally a hot person and sweat a lot (like all the time), so that was not super fun. But seriously, it was sooooo worth. I also wore spanx under my dress which was stupid because it added an extra layer and that was just dumb. They came off right after pictures! The dj was 500, plus we tipped I think like 25. I know our guests gave him money too. That was a great deal compared to what I saw other djs charge. Dreams wanted 650 for 3 hrs. This guy dj'd for almost 6 and he was very good. We did not use the officiant from Le KLiff, but I wish we did. I found her on the internet. I cannot remember her name right now, but she also offers dj services(i think her husband does that). She was not friendly and even some guests commented how miserable she looked. She also complained on the length of our ceremony (we put it together ourselves). I hope that helps and no problem any other question you might have!
  2. Hey Jessica! You will love it! We arranged for taxi vans the day before with our concierge at Dreams. Not sure where you are staying, but that seemed to be the most reasonable option. We looked into renting a bus, but it cost $400. We wanted everyone to travel together so no one got nervous about making it there. Each van held 8 people and the total was around $40 each way. The walk to the cliff for the ceremony is long! There are a lot of stairs, which im sure you are aware of. I wore heels, cause I was hell bent on it. It was a difficult walk! The walk to the beach for pics was very long and very hot. At one point I thought I was going to faint! Carlos was right there though and brought us water and whatever we wanted. I seriously felt like I was going to throw up at one point, I was so hot! But in all honesty, the pictures are so amazing and it was sooooo worth it! My only regret is wearing heels. I really don't like flats, but I wish I wore them. The dance floor at Le Kliff was very uneven (rocky) so I ended up wearing flip flops and my dress was hemmed for heels, so I kept stepping on it and it was trashed! We had our reception on a different level than the one they usually hold it on (the main floor was booked), so you may want to ask carlos what the surface is like ont he main deck. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Danielle
  3. it is Le Kliff. I got married there in April. We LOVED it! My review is on the PV forum. If you have any questions, let me know. As for the food, I know I have read so-so reviews of it before, including on another review site, but I can say that for our wedding it was great. It is of course subjective, but we had many compliments about the food. And honestly, the setting alone could make up for any downfalls of the food in my opinion!
  4. We were at an all inclusive, so that helped me narrow it down. I found great bags at target for $2.50 each. I got just about everything else at the dollar stores. I bought makeup bags for the ladies that I filled with chapstick, pony tail holders, nail files, loufa, body wash, lotion, and my favorite, these great mirror/brush combo compacts from the travel section at target. We also put in a cigar and matches for the guys and a travel mug for each guest. We got spanish for dummies on sale for a $1 at office max. One of the things people really loved though was a last minute add on. We got lanyards and key card holders. Oh we also got first aid kits from the dollar store and put inside them ibuprofen, pepto tabs, and alka seltzer. I bought a huge bottle of ibuprofen and then tiny jewelery bags from hobby lobby and put the meds in those with labels of dosage. No one cared that they were not individually pre-packaged meds and it saved us a lot of money. We also included a welcome letter and a pre-stamped postcard with directions fro people to fill in their favorite memory of the trip and send it to us when they got home. We are still getting some and it is so fun to get the mail!
  5. I tried adding Le Kliff to the resort review area, but no luck. I wanted to give this info because when I was looking for information about Le Kliff, there was not a lot. If anyone has any questions, feel free to send me a message. All in all, it was the best day of our lives! We began our planning for our destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta in June of 2010. We had settled on Dreams PV and were set to go. However, we began to experiences a lot of problems with the wedding coordinators at Dreams about 1.5 months before our wedding. With very little time left, we began searching for a new venue. With a quick google search, I found Le Kliff. Carlos replied to my email right away - luck was on our side, and Le Kliff was available! We canceled Dreams and began planning all over again. We both had moments that we thought we were crazy for doing this, but once we arrived, we had no worries! From the very beginning, Carlos was warm and accommodating. We had no worries at all during the process of planning over email. We had already hired an outside wedding coordinator when we started having problems at Dreams. The wedding coordinator handled some things, like flowers, centerpieces and cake. Carlos handled the rest, including the reception details, the floral arch for the ceremony, and the DJ.I have no doubt that Carlos could have handled every aspect of our day without the help of our other coordinator. We saw Le Kliff in person for the first time the day before our wedding. When we walked in, I was overcome by the beauty - I had to hold back tears! I knew we made the right decision, even for just the view! Carlos was truly a nice person - I could tell he really wanted our wedding to be amazing. He even expressed how sorry he was for the problems we had at Dreams. Our wedding day went off perfectly. Our ceremony took place at 6pm, which was still very hot! After we were pronounced husband and wife, we heard all of this noise, like horns and maracas coming from above. We looked up and saw all of the staff cheering for us - it is one of my favorite memories! During pictures/cocktail hour, a mother whale and her calf made an appearance very close to the ceremony location! We were thrilled and our guests could not stop talking about it. Dinner was wonderful - goat cheese salad, perfectly medium steak with large shrimp, ice cream, and wedding cake. Everyone was very impressed with the meal - especially the steak so uniformly cooked for 40 people. The DJ that Carlos hired for us was awesome! I provided him with a list of all the music we wanted, but he had everything anyone requested. We danced until 12 am - we really had so much fun! The service was outstanding. I think the waiters had a bet about which one could serve the most drinks! They were also fun and got our guests dancing in the beginning. Words really cannot express how thrilled we were with our whole experience. Pictures also do not do Le Kliff justice. Our guests cannot stop talking about the "celebrity" wedding they went to in Puerto Vallarta. I still get teary thinking about how amazing our wedding was. The day after my husband and I got home from our honeymoon, we were watching a tv show about lottery winners. One couple threw their "dream wedding." My husband asked what I would change about our wedding if we won the lottery - I said "absolutely nothing!" and he agreed.
  6. that was my issue. I had assumed that the prices at the time of deposit would be honored. Louise wanted emails stating prices that I was given - I did not have a lot because, as I said, I figured the prices at the time of deposit would be honored. After we canceled, Louise told me they were going to honor everything - unfortunately she never said that. My advice would be to get a contract ASAP.
  7. I have not been super active on this forum, but I couldn't wait to contribute to this thread! It is my favorite! Would do a million times again! Deciding on Puerto Vallarta after looking all over the Riviera Maya. It was more affordable for guests, not super hot this time of year, the mountains are amazing, and OH MAN the sunsets! Choose Dreams PV. The service was wonderful! All of our guests loved it Canceling our wedding at Dreams after too many issues with the WCs - 1.5 months before the wedding! Choose Le Kliff. Words will never explain how perfect and beautiful our ceremony and reception were OOT bags. This was the most fun I had! The guests were telling us all week, and still now, how much they loved them. Greeting all of our guests on arrival to Dreams. We had people arriving over 3 days, so it was a lot of time spent in the lobby. But everyone said it made them feel very special. Our bonfire. I loved it! Obsessively putting together a list of music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. A bunch of my guests asked me for CDs - but I didn't make any! Going on a honeymoon to Cancun for 6 days. We needed some serious relaxation! Not getting drunk on the wedding night - I remember everything about the whole day. wear a formal wedding gown getting my hair and makeup done at Dreams - they did a wonderful job Wouldn't do again Get my dress altered to wear heels. I am that girl who refuses to take off her high heels at any wedding or function. Well, after about 500 stairs at Le Kliff, and the dress sticking to my legs and my bustle breaking, I kicked my heels off during our first dance and wore flip flops the rest of the night. It was much better and I never would have guessed I would do that. Unfortunately, my dress was tripping me all night. My friends will never let me hear the end of it! Worry so much! Everything was better than I could imagine!
  8. Hi everyone! We just returned from our wedding and honeymoon. Although we did not have our wedding at Dreams, I wanted to review our experience. I just posted my review of Dreams in the review section. If anyone has question, let me know!
  9. Kerrib - I just posted that on Facebook today! Then I wasted a few hours on that site. Some people are sooooo wierd!
  10. just wanted to bump this thread. We leave in 4 days and I was just thinking about this stuff! We will probably tip the DJ (if he does a good job), the waiters, and bartenders. Tips are included in the per person price, but for I like to tip for good service. We are getting married off of the resort. I don't understand tipping the videographer or officiant. It seems they should charge what they want to get paid. I will probably tip the photographer once we get photos. As far as our WC, we really paid her already for her services, but she has been very helpful, so we will probably tip a bit more. This stuff really stresses me out!!
  11. thanks ladies! I decided to just get a manicure before I leave and then at Dreams. I have tried the axxium and it barely lasted 1.5 weeks. Of course, I am a nurse and wash my hands about 500 times a day! But I would assume that being the water a lot would do the same thing. I loved how it looked though. And it did ruin my nails - I got it for about 2 months straight, and let me tell you, my nails were NASTY at the end. I may look for the Shellac. I was worried about getting the OPI and then not being able to have it removed in mexico correctly. 6 days til we leave!!!
  12. So I leave in 8 days! I have a silly worry right now. My nails are not in the best shape - I had planned on really taking care of them, but nope, didn't happen. They are weak and break easily. I want to get a manicure and pedicure before I leave (I would get them done monday) and the wedding is saturday. I know I can get a manicure at Dreams, or in town, but I really don't want to. Did you ladies notice that your pre-trip mani/pedi lasted until the wedding? Should I just get acrylics? I hate them, but I don't want nasty nails!!
  13. I just wanted to post a review of this company. We ordered 5 groomsmen pants and two pairs for our dads. Everyone ordered theirs separately. We did have everyone add an inch to the waist and thighs, and inseam, based on suggestions from this thread. We ordered comfort fit in english beige. We asked to have the pants delivered by March 22. Most of the guys have received their pants and they are great! No problems and fast delivery. However, my father had problems with his measurements. He measured his "true waist" almost 10 inches larger than the pants he normally wears. Now I know that the site says that the measurement will differ from regular pant size, but it was such a huge difference we were worried. We were scared he would look like he had clown pants on and they would be too big to even take in. Between my father and myself, we sent at least 6 emails. We never received response, so we kept trying. Finally, yesterday, they responded to my email saying they had been emailing multiple times to us and never received responses. I don't know if I believe them, only because we emailed them from 2 different email addresses and still did not receive an answer. Plus, that response was to my email address, which was not the email address given when the order was placed (it was my dad's). When we got their email, they asked about other measurements, but did not even answer the waist question. I answered their questions and reminded them that they did not even reply to our only question. Well they responded today that true waist measurement will differ from pant size and it varies brand to brand. Well no kidding! We just were worried that it was such a huge difference. They also informed us the pants would not be here by March 22. I wish they said when they could get them to us. If he gets them by April 1, he will have like 2 days to get them hemmed or whatever, which could work. They did say they will refund us. So we are waiting to see if they can expedite by April 1. It just really stinks because now every guy, including the groom's dad, will have matching pants. We will now have to find my dad something - not what I want to worry about 2 weeks before!! So, if you have no questions about anything, you will be fine. But if problems arise you might be SOL. I would say that maybe give yourself a ton of extra time, but I am not sure this would have helped us since we could not even get a hold of them!
  14. I had emails specifically asking if there was a charge to set up things we brought and was told no. Things change the the drop of a hat!
  15. I really don't see what the big deal is. I am also a nurse, so I don't think that people are leery because of professional knowledge; it's a personal concern. Of course at work I open packages in front of patients, but this isn't work. I asked quite a few people in my party if they would care about getting medicine that I packaged and labeled myself. No one cared. I mean these are all people I know well or they would not be coming, right? I don't think they are too worried about me trying to poison them! Also, I don't know how offering meds from a big bottle is not considered "dispensing" if giving meds ahead of time is? Seems like a fine line to be making. So, generic is fine. As far as separate packs, etc, you have to do with what you think. Everyone has different levels of comfort. Whatever you decide is right, for you! Good luck!
  16. I just wanted to give a quick update in case anyone else was wondering about this. We decided to go with Mar Weddings. I decided on them for the reasons I mentioned above. It started off as day-of planning, but due to glitches with Dreams, we canceled our wedding at Dreams (still staying there) and are now getting married at Le Kliff. Gabriela from Mar has been great! She really talked me down when I was freaking. She is not doing too much for us, just flowers and cake in addition to the services we had previously agreed on. She is not charging us more even though she is doing more and plans were changed. Response time has been good, although I think she has some big events coming up soon that she is busy with. I don't really need much from her, so it's not a big deal. I would highly recommend based on my experiences so far.
  17. I searched to see if I could find this answer. I have 42 people coming to Puerto Vallarta. We are making OOT bags and really want to include mugs. But how do we bring them down? I feel like they would need at least two suitcases! Anyone have advice for me? Thanks!
  18. I had already picked my menu, so I can help with that. We were allowed to mix and match; also, we could have two entree options, but we needed to tell Dreams I think 14 days ahead of time and give them a way to know who ordered what. Also, I remember reading that you are allowed to bring your flowers home (another bride somewhere on this site asked customs on the way home and they said it would have been fine). They are not "alive" so it should be ok. It's worth trying anyways.
  19. Yeah they definitely won't charge the deposit until the room is booked. So if you don't have a room yet, that could be the problem. Once we booked the room, it went through right away. You just need to give the WC your confirmation number.
  20. m1984 - were you asking about communication with Le Kliff or Dreams? If it was Le Kliff, I don't know what you could do. Carlos emails me back within a few hours. I really loved the gazebo at Dreams too. But I love the the ceremony location at Le Kliff as well. As far as the deposit, I would insist on paying it. We payed ours in July of last year for our wedding in April, so no it is not too early. But, I know that quite a few people here had issues with paying the deposit, so you're not alone. Try emailing Esman.
  21. Hey ladies just wanted to let you know that we found "daily spanish for Dummies" for 99c at Office Depot today! Great for OOT bags!
  22. Yeah I don't want anyone to think that Louise was the problem. She really tried, but she just wasn't clear about her answers. She now says that she told us they would honor the 2010 prices, but we have all the emails and that was never said. She was very gracious about us canceling. It was just too many things. First the change in coordinators, then all the price problems. One example: I asked if Oceana was still available for rent. She said no. Then 3 days later she said yes. We were in the process of pricing le Kliff - so the private space may have changed our minds. basically, for about the same cost, it seemed worth it. Actually, having it at LeKLiff is cheaper than renting Oceana. She said if she knew we would cancel, they would have been quicker to honor things - well I shouldn't have to threaten them to have them do that. They have a corner on the wedding market, but they need to realize that they still need to give the brides a lot of attention (if wanted) and offer a competitive product. i am still super excited about Dreams. we are still having the bonfire, which sounds amazing! Please don't anyone think I am trying to rain on their parade! Partly is was our fault for not clarifying earlier. So just learn from our mistake!
  23. hey ladies! Soooooo....we were so frustrated with Dreams and everything going on, that we have decided to get married off of the resort. We have reserved Le Kliff. We really love it and I am actually really excited. I think this all happened for a reason. I feel so much better because contact has been awesome. We will still be having the bonfire and everything. On a side note, I just got home from work. I'm outside of Chicago and don;t know if any of you have seen the crazy weather, but OMG! I'm a nurse and they called a disaster code, so we were not allowed to leave. I worked yesterday for 12 hrs, slept at the hospital, and got off at 7pm after another 12 hr shift. I'm exhausted! I hope anyone else hit with this weather is safe and warm!
