Wedding dress dilemma...I need serious HELP!

Recommended Posts

I have to agree with Erin about buying a dress you fit in now (or when you order your dress). You can wait a few months to see how your diet is going before you make a decision but it does take time for gowns to come in.

I had every intention to lose 30 lbs when we got engaged and i've only lost around 17lbs. If i had ordered a smaller dress, i'd be screwed right now. Diets are hard.

I was going to write exactly what Erin wrote. Buy the new dress, or wait about 2 months and see the progress you are making on the weight loss. But you don't need the added stress of trying to lose weight to get from a 20 to a 12. And I wonder if that 12 is a bridal 12 (which makes it like an cool.gif or a regular 12. That would be awesome if you could do that, but with all the stress of wedding planning, I wouldn't knowingly add so much.

OK I was gonna say what some of the others are saying. It is alot of added stress to try to lose a lot of weight at the same time you are planning a wedding. Also they say it takes 30 pounds to go down a dress size and speaking from experience that is very frustrating. I feel like i should be going down sizes faster but I am not. I have only gone from a 20 to a 16 in year. Since returning from Jamaica i have lost the momentum at times so I go up and down. It is just very stressful trying to diet and balance everything else before a wedding. I am not saying you cannot do it cause i have faith in you! :-) If it were me I would buy the new dress (if funds permit it) cause one it is beautiful, and two you can always alter down. You cannot make something that is too small bigger in general. I am sure whatever you do it will be beautiful and perfect though. Maybe if I saw the other dress I would be responding differently. I do love that dress you have posted though!

I agree with the last few posts, ErinB hit it on the head, so did Carly, Danielle and the others...

There is enough stress with planning a wedding, don't stress about the dress...

Figure out a way financially to get the dress you love and that fits.

Maybe check ebay, or netbride for better pricing....

Just a thought!

I love your story. My fiance and I are also paying for our own wedding. I bought a sample sale dress which is a little tight and am trying to get into it before May.

Here is my feedback. The dress you posted is amazing. If you love it, buy it and wear it and you will glow. After 9 1/2 years of having to put off the big day, NOW if ever is a time to celebrate not a time to thinking about how you can cut calories, become a little bitchy from not eating and enjoying your wedding planning.

NOW is a time to celebrate the big day is coming. YOu should be focusing on you and your fiance. He loves you the way you are and when you walk down the isle in the dress you posted he will fall in love with you all over again.

Do what makes you happy but remember he loves you and as long as you love yourself you have the best part of happiness figured out.

Again amazing dress....cheer2.gif

I have lost weight for every wedding I've been in...except mine. For some reason, I just cannot focus on it and it's so frustrating. I finally said this is stupid. I'm so worried about it that I'm not enjoying things like dress shopping. So I finally went shopping, found my dress, and I feel absolutely beautiful in it. If you found a dress that does that for you, buy it. Don't put all of that extra pressure on yourself, it's just not worth it.

Beautifully Said! Fuller, happy brides are so much more attractive than thin, stressed out bridezillas! Just enjoy the planning and have fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
