So horrified to hear about the deaths at the GRP, So very thankful we were not there at this time.  Although it does make me nervous to still get married there most of my guests have reassured me it will be ok.  Are you all still going through with your weddings there? And has anyone been in contact with the new WC yet?

Yes i know how you feel, I'm quite nervous as well. you will always be wondering if it can happen again being that the swap is still there. but I'm sure everything will be OK they won't have reopened it for guest if it wasn't I'm sure they had safe inpectors in to look at things. We leave on December 1st and our wedding is on the 4th still noting from the new WC i was going to e-mail her again after this and find out was is happening.

Hello Ladies,

Just wondering if any of you are switching to different resorts or staying with Princess. I am not sure if resort will stay open, I've heard it might close till the end of December but I am sure it is still open now.

I am getting married on January 19th, 2011. I am still hoping to go forward with my plans but I want all of us to feel safe at the same time.

New wedding coordinator finally contacted me 2 days before the accident. Her name is Mara, she seems very nice. No news from her since then.

My thoughts are with the families who lost the loved ones...

We've decided to stay. We're leaving Nov.28. We looked at other resorts but there was very limited availability and we would have had to ask our guests to pay around $500 more each to move. It's a tragedy for sure, and part of me feels a bit weird about it. Another part feels like now is the best time to go there - the place has been inspected from top to bottom.

Im so glad to hear I am not the only one staying with the resort, my guests are all still onboard and I hope yours are too! I agree that now it will probably be the safest resort because it will be so overly inspected now bc they cannot afford something like this to happen again! Good luck to all the up coming brides and let us know how everything goes!

I talked to Alexandra today (I believe her and Mara are the two new coordinators) and was a bit relieved in that although I still haven't gotten my agreement at least this time she knew off hand who I was and some details of my wedding.  Every other time I've called over the last few weeks neither of the coordinators knew who I was and would always ask whether or not I've received my agreement yet.  My wedding is in about one month and she also told me they are waiving the one-month payment due date because they know its their fault for falling behind in sending couples their agreements.  She insisted I will get it soon, didn't give me a hard date but I do believe her this time and generally feel more at ease than I did each of the other times I've tried contacting them over the last few weeks.

Also I think its premature to be cancelling trip plans to this resort due to the tragedy, I did a tv news interview on the subject (as well as another woman who had a different opinion than me), if you want you can view it by going to http://edmonton.ctv.ca/  and clicking on the link "Couples set to be wed at Mexican resort now faced with tough decision."  Its near the bottom of the page and will probably get booted off soon since it was up for a while already.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
