  1. I changed my flowers the day before the wedding and they were beautiful! My bridesmaids bouquets were stunning as well. It is true that people not staying in the platinum suites cannot hang out in them, but the day of the wedding they make exceptions. 2 of my bridesmaids were and one wasn't and she had no problem being there in with us. Also my friend who is a make up artist hung out with us all day no problem. We ordered tons of room service and they did ask for room numbers (room service is free in the platinum suites) so we only have those room numbers. The music was definately loud enough, and I was way around the corner so my guests could not see me and I heard the bridesmaid song, just enough to get butterflies! Hope this helps
  2. Hi Everyone!! Back from the most amazing week of my life! I will post pics as soon as I get the professional ones. Anyone having second thoughts about the resort because of the wedding coordinator DON'T!, Mara was so professional and organized it kind of blew me away. I also had a hard time getting a hold of her and was a little nervous how the day was all going to come together but she had everything under control. We met with her the day before and went over everything, (I actually changed my flowers to the big lilly and rose hanging bouquet but requested all the flowers be in white, and they were perfect!) we also requested to do a walk through the day before (make sure you ask) and they accommidated that. I was nervous about the new location since losing the gazebo and I actually like it better. Our music was perfectly on que, my bridesmaids walked down to "La Mar" by the Beautiful girls and I walked down to "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Jason Castro, everyone loved the songs! We brought sand to do a sand ceremony and the minister made it very personal and the vows he prepared were beautiful. Our ceremony was at 3, there was a light breeze (not very windy) that made pictures afterwards on the beach easy and enjoyable (no pit stains on the boys! lol) We just did the infinity package for $800 (we got legally married in canada first but no body new) We had 58 guests and had our reception and the Thai Beach Restaurant, worth EVERY penny. They way I saw it, is if we had a wedding at home it would have been 200 guests and like $30 000, so to have a reception for about 8500 was amazing! We got the DJ, he was awesome, played requests and kept everyone on the dance floor, also my brother made a video for us on his computer that we used the projector, his music wouldnt play so he worked it out with the DJ to play all the same songs on cue, No one even knew!! My wedding favors I got from Kustomkoozie.com, they were drink koozies that read "To have and to hold, to keep your drink cold" with our names and date, a big hit among our guests! We brought in 2 outside photographers costing $75 extra to bring them into the resort but they were so amazing I cannot wait to see the pictures. check out Rachel at www.lalunaphotography.com We stayed in the platinum suites and I would highly recommend spending the extra, it was nice having the 24hour conceirge and room service. Since we had so many guest upon their arrival I gave them an itinerary of where my fiance and I were going to be for every dinner, outline for day of the wedding and any excersions we were going on. Because we were in the platinum suites we were able to book all of our dinners the first night, any guests not staying in the platinum suites could only book 2 days in advance. My one major complaint was of some of the staff, they were very strict on rules (example: you could never take food out of any of the restaurants, not even at 4am a hamburger out of the sports bar, some of the bartenders we very rude and all in all a lot of the staff we not that accommidating, which was weird to me bc when we were at this resort 3 yrs ago they couldnt have been sweeter... If anyone has any questions at all let me know!! Happy planning and honestly don't worry if you don't get a response right away. There were 10 weddings our week and 17 the next, so they really know what they are doing!!

  5. We leave in just 2 short weeks! Final dress fitting tomorrow, and everything will be pretty much ready to go. I will let you all know how everything goes, I am so excited for the Thai Beach Reception!! Wish me luck!!
  6. Is paid in full for our contract Now I just want it to get here!!! Not to mention Calgary is -20!
  7. Hi Carrie, I can't seem to find your pictures? How many songs did you guys use for your ceremony? 5 Weeks for us and I am getting soo excited
  8. Congratulations AlbertaCarrie!! Sounds like you had an amazing time, I cannot wait to see pictures!! We have just 6 weeks to go and I am just finalizing small details.
  9. I can't seem to get your website to work? I would love to see your pictures! I am getting married April 8th and we are having our reception at the Thai beach. Did you use a DJ or just do your own music? And were you able to use music while you walked down the isle? Any other helpful advice would be great!!
  10. Hey has anyone booked the DJ? How were they and could you request songs?
  11. Hi Ladies! I am getting married at 3pm on April 8 2011! We were looking forward to the gazebo but are now going to have our ceremony on the beach bc the gazebo won't be available bc of the explosion. Then we are having a private reception (we have about 55 guests) in the Thai Beach Restaurant. It is the priciest for sure ($100/person) but we have stayed at the GSP before and absolutely loved the Thai Restaurant. And from every other bride I have talked to who had their dinner here said it was worth every penny! We get it from 6-10pm (but I have been told we can most likely stay until 11pm) This gives us enough time for dinner, speeches and plenty of dancing just with our group until we head off to the disco! We were torn between doing the private beach reception and the cons I was told about that was bathrooms being public and far away, if its windy sand can be blown onto the tables, and the dance floor is not included. Beach reception is $85/person. Hope this info helps!
  12. Mookie and Kristy, our dates will overlap! We are getting married April 8, 2011, staying 6-13! I am also really hoping that the gazebo will be available by then but am doubtful. I was wondering if the Yuppa they are alternatively providing is right by a big chain link fence? I thought I could see that on the side of one of the pictures Mara sent me. Also I was wondering if it is big enough to sit about 50 ppl? We are doing a private reception in the Thai Restaurant which I am really excited about! Happy planning everyone!!
  13. Thanks so much for the great photos and reviews! Congrats on what seemed to be an amazing wedding!
  14. Mara Pineda Cerón Coordinadora de Bodas (984) 877 3500 Ext. 4362 Fax: (52)984 877 3528 [email protected] I am getting married April 8th and Mara has been a great help since losing Patricia. If any brides have had their wedding at the GSP since the explosion I would love to hear from them!
  15. Im so glad to hear I am not the only one staying with the resort, my guests are all still onboard and I hope yours are too! I agree that now it will probably be the safest resort because it will be so overly inspected now bc they cannot afford something like this to happen again! Good luck to all the up coming brides and let us know how everything goes!
  16. So horrified to hear about the deaths at the GRP, So very thankful we were not there at this time. Although it does make me nervous to still get married there most of my guests have reassured me it will be ok. Are you all still going through with your weddings there? And has anyone been in contact with the new WC yet?
  17. Just got the same msg from Patricia, I hope they fill her spot with someone who has as much experience as her....Let me know if anyone hears from the new WP, Good Luck!!
  18. Hi Dreamwedding1 I would love to see your pics! I am getting married there this April!! My email is [email protected] Thanks so much!!
  19. Hey Kristy and Lauren! Just sent Patricia the final forms! Im a little nervous I went with the wrong bouquet haha so many decisions to make!! We did decide to go with the Private Thai for our reception and Im hoping is worth every penny! I found really cute Koozies that say "To Have and to Hold" "To Keep Your Drink Cold" with two intertwind hearts and our names and wedding date for a favor! haha I thought a Kozzie was quite fitting! Hope to hear more of your planning!
  20. Hi Kristy and Lauren! We have decided on the Thai restaraunt reception and just the Infinity wedding package since we will be getting married in Canada first. I also got "playaweddings" to be my photographers! I sent out my save the dates in May how soon should I send out the actual invitations and do I still send one to the ppl I know will not be able to make it? Â Kelsey
  21. Hi Lauren! I am getting married April 8,2011 so we will definately overlap! Patricia sent me the resort photographer and I found my own, "playaweddings" beautiful photography! We are also most likely going with the beach reception but are a little worried with cost too as we will have around 70 guests! Love to hear more of your planning! Â
  22. Hi Lauren! I am getting married April 8, 2011 so we will definately overlap! Patricia sent me some of the pics the resort photographer did and I didnt think they were good enough so I am going with "playaweddings". Also I think we are going to go with the Beach reception as well but are also concerned about cost as we have about 70guests. I'd love to hear more about your planning!
  23. Congrats! Its so great to have so much good feed back. We are really struggling also with the reception, whether to go with the Beach or Thai as they are both a lot of money considering we will have around 70guests. If you could email me some pictures or any advice I would really appreciate it! [email protected]
  24. Our guest list is also around 75 ppl and was wondering about the beach reception, if you get any advice or pics I would love to hear about it! My email is [email protected] Good luck!
