  1. Oh you mean the ones we had on the tables? The small ones fit inside the larger ones. We packed about three suitcases of decor items for the wedding. Took them right on the plane. I think altogether we brought 6 pieces of luggage and two carryons.
  2. Calicat the lanterns that were set up around the dancefloor were done by our resort!
  3. Hi everyone! So I'm sure many of you brides are probably AS obsessed with all of the wedding blogs out there as I am (SMP, GWS, Ruffled, etc...), so you can imagine my JUBILATION when our wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty this morning!!!! Too exciting! Take a look http://www.stylemepretty.com/destination-weddings/2011/11/11/los-cabos-wedding-by-floataway-studios/ Natalie
  4. Thanks everyone! ReyDar64, to quote one of my previous posts: Letterpress printing is a printing technique which has been in use in the West since around the 15th Century (Gutenberg used it to manufacture his version of the Bible). It involves locking movable type into the bed of a press, inking it, and rolling or pressing paper against it to form an impression. It's a very time-consuming process, as each invitation needs to be hand fed through the machine. It results in an indentation on the front side of the invitations, and raised print on the back.
  5. No, we brought the lanterns down with us. My coordinator did do the setup on the beach with the kerosene cans, however!
  6. lolol thank you! They were amazing to work with. My pictures are BEAUTIFUL Couldn't be happier!
  7. An interesting fact for anyone getting married in Mexico whose resorts said NO: Are beaches private or public? Are the beaches safe? All beaches in Mexico are public property, and are open for everyone, even the beaches in front of the hotels. While most hotels usually don't have a problem with visitors walking through their grounds to get to the beach, it's a good idea to ask, and to be more careful about crossing over private property to get to some of the other beaches. SOOOOO...for any of your rule breakers out there, you could just go ahead and do it!
  8. Hey Katie! Take a read through the thread! I used sky lanterns at my recent wedding in Los Cabos (at Dreams). Check with your resort, looks like every one has their own rules. Cheers!
  9. It should be rtowards the left side of the page, there is a bar to type it in (1234).
  10. This was a surprise for our guests, so when the reception concluded, our DJ/MC made an announcement asking our guests to join the bride & groom on the beach for a special surprise. We al walked down to the beach together, and our WC had two hotel workers unwrapping the the lanterns, and handing them out to guests. The kerosene cans were already lit and in the sand. I gave a demo as to what to do (the lighting process, and then everyone went ahead and started sending them off!
  11. Tori you are too funny! I love that video. Sigh. I can't believe it's all done! Except for the thank you notes.... The dresses are very similar to the JCrew ones (which are gorgeous! That's where all our guys wedding clothes were from). The dresses are from AfterSix (Dessy), and were a bit cheaper than the JCrew ones, so we went with them instead: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6574/ Peach! The dress is by Alvina Valenta (same design house as Lazaro and Jim Hjelm). It's AV9913. I added straps to mine at the very last second (the week we were departing, at what was suppose to be my final fitting!) because I felt like it was still a bit too low. Best decision I made!!! I felt sooooo comfortable (no "pulling up" every two minutes!).
  12. Hey Avens! The succulents were very easy to get in Cabo (it's the desert!). Not sure about the Mayan as it's so tropical The Billy Balls were touch-and-go up until the day before the wedding(which would have been DEVASTATING, as that is the colour I'd based my entire wedding off of!). Make sure your florist is very clear of your expectations - she'll be able to tell you what she can/can't get, and give you lots of alternatives!
  13. Don't fret!!! It's still so early! We got engaged in August 2010, sent the STD in October 2010 (for our July 2011 wedding), and didn't book ourselves until February 2011! The majority of our guests booked in March 2011 (5 months before the wedding). We had guests book as late as one month before, and even a last minute guest a week before the wedding! Everyone important will be there!
  14. I used the ones from www.theskylantern.com, and had no issues getting them on the plane. We released ours right on the beach. You need to make sure nothing is nearby (ie beach palapas) as they do not go right UP, they float for a bit and gravitate up. Hope this helps!
  15. Congrats! Not sure if you've already made a deposit for this or not, but I would seriously suggest booking hair/makeup with Neysa Berman. From the reviews I've read and pictures I've seen of Suzanne Morel, her style is a bit dated, and many have had communication issues with her and her staff. You can take a look here for photos of what Neysa has done (my photos are on the last page!). http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/25774/hair-and-make-up-review-neysa-berman Natalie
  16. Here are some photos of another bride who used lanterns at her wedding recently: From http://greenweddingshoes.com/a-georgia-handmade-wedding-casey-brandon/
  17. Thanks so much for the well-wishes Seeing the video for the first time is an amazing moment! I hope yours exceeds your expectations!
  18. For those that are looking, I used www.theskylantern.com, got an amazing price, extremely fast shipping, and fantastic customer service from the owner!
  19. @MTruvillio and capecodder - Thank you! @Away DC - I didn't ask my WC as much as I told her I wasn't the first to do this at my resort, though, because they had a set up for it (kerosene cans in the sand). I originally wanted fireworks, but they were going to charge something obscene like $1000 per minute. This cost $100 and everyone is still talking about it!
