Calling July 2009 Brides!

Recommended Posts

Hello July SMB brides!

I'm getting married there on the 18th of July. Super excited! Can't believe it is literally right around the corner. We have 42 guests attending! My colors are Fuschia and Orange.

Things I already have and done:

DRESS- Still getting altered, no biggie small alterations

FLIP FLOPS- Bought them online at AdvantageBridal.com, they have very cute stuff Bling Bling Platform Flip Flop in Ivory, White, Black, Brown - Bridal Flip Flops - Bride Sandals - Wedding Flip Flops

VEIL- Bought a cathedral length one from online on eBay, way cheaper than the store. Should look beautiful on the beach and for the pictures especially if the wind is blowing. Plain and perfect!

BRIDESMAIDS- Ordered their dresses from David's bridal. cute, empire waste, strapless, perfect for beach!

GROOM- Bought his linen suit at Macy's- got the best deal! Wow, great sale. Brand is Cubavera, neutral color, got it for a total $60, I saved over $120. You can also find them online.

GROOMSMEN ATTIRE- They ordered their guayabera shirts from penners.com, the best store located in San Antonio, TX and you can order their shirts online. Perfect shirts for the beach, fits the Mexico beach theme. They got Poly-Cotton, color Orange. The bought their linen pants at Macy's same brand as my FI suit, very cheap too. They are drawstring. The shirt and the pants will fit perfect! They will need some brown flip-flops.

INVITATIONS- went out last Friday! Yah

Found a photographer, he is actually an aquaintance from back home in TX, his first cousin is one of my good friends and she is going to my wedding. he lives in San Miguel De Allende in MX, you should check out his site! Amazing photos. index

DJ- Using DJ Doremixx. Was a better deal than DJ Mannia, I have him for 5 hours and he will be bringing an additional speaker and Mic for the ceremony on the beach.

Now I need to work on:

My welcome bags, and I will be shipping many things over to the resort ahead of time. I have glass centerpieces that I will be shipping to MX. It is a big bowl, and inside I will put a pillar candle, sand, and shells around and a ribbon around the base of bowl. If any brides that are getting married after me are interested in seeing them and want to buy them from me, let me know! I can leave them there for you to use.

I am taking a bunch of tulle for my chairs to be decorated my colors for both ceremony and reception.

Alright! Talk to you ladies later!

Woohoo! I'm getting married the 18th too!!

I feel like I have so much stuff to do still. We are hopefully finalizing our reception stuff with the resort today, so that will be nice to have that done and over with. How many of you are having receptions outdoors?? My FI is worried it might be too hot!

I still need to do a hair run through too. My alterations on my dress won't be done until June 30th - and my TTD hasn't even come in yet - I'm getting a little worried about that one!!

And many tasky things still to finish - ordering our guest book, putting together playlists for music and picture lists for photographers, etc etc...

Nina, We are worried about this too but our WC said we could change our minds once we are there. We have a ballroom tentatively booked just in case it is too hot. We get there Sunday before our Saturday wedding so we are going to check out the terrace the first couple nights to see JUST how hot it is.

I asked another bride that just got married in Cancun how HOT it was. She said it depends on the breeze. In her case, the breeze was up every night but their wedding night. it was freakin' hot for them the day of the wedding.

I have to get my brochure done now. I will put them in the welcome bags once there.

Add me the list...I was concerned about the weather also. My reception dinner will be in an air conditioned restaurant. The cocktail hour will be on the terrace, but I didn't want to risk it with the rest of the reception.

Yay girls!

So I think last time I said I was done with everything, and I realized I still had so much to do.

But now I think I am getting pretty close...I need to make some lists as I am getting overwhelmed trying to remember everything.

I packed all of our wedding stuff like OOT, ceremony, and reception things and it all fits in one large suitcase! Yay!...although still waiting for our Sandframe to come in and my last minute gifts for my bridesmaids. I odered them 2 pearl braclets from Overstock.com...love that place! One in white pearl and the other balck pearl. They are freshwater pearls in elactic so they can be dressed up or down. I have a few of these and love them!

My shower is this weekend and I am so excited! My bridesmaids are throwing it for me. I have gotten a few gifts in and feel so loved! My bridal tea was last weekend and it was amazing. My FMIL gave in my honor. I am so lucky to have amazing in laws!

Any whoo....we leave two weeks from today. And will be married two weeks from Sunday. Our legal day is on Tuesday! OMG, it is crazy it is here!

July is almost here! Congrats my July girls!

    • Good afternoon, I wanted to inquire if anyone has or knows someone who got married at this resort. How was it? How are the coordinators? Packages that were chosen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.
    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
