Anyone out there thinking about "Rock the Reception"?

So I'm watching Rock the Reception on TLC right now and it's totally cracking me up. My FI really wants to take swing dancing lessons (He's 6"6 and I'm 5"2) I kinda put the stop on it because our reception is on the beach but we ordered a dance floor so now I'm getting back in to the idea. Just wondering if anyone out there is doing something different for their first dance.

Love to hear your thoughts!

We are to!!! I am so excited. My FI has created a mix where we start off to a traditional song and then it scratches out and another songs play. I am going to dance to two, he is going to dance to two, like a dance battle and then we are going to do a few songs together and then back to the origional song! I am so excited...songs are as follows:

Sara Evens - Could not ask for more (Us)

Sir mix a lot -baby got back(me)

Beasty boys - brass monkey(me)

Michael Jackson - Billy Jean(FI)

red sox's irish jig(FI)

Macarana(us)

Apache(us)

lets do the twist(us)

Sara evens could not ask for more(us)

Our guests are going to love it cause FI doesn't dance so they'll all be shocked.

We just down loaded a program off the internet and mixed our own songs. Let me know if you need the program info!!!

I was for it since the very beginning when I saw the original dance that made it popular on Ellen.. haha

My FI at first was a little hesitant, but now hes starting to embrace the idea.. we are going to do our own choreography since we both were cheerleaders (we should be able to make SOMETHING creative).. and we'll add our wedding party into it while we are down there.. very excited!! :o)

I'd rather speak in public, completely nude, with ratty hair, wearing my glasses, and make animal noises than dance in public to a choreographed dance!! OMG this would be a total nightmare for me! Even the thought of doing the traditional slow dance in front of others makes me feel queasy! I really wanted to do this thinking that maybe it would make me feel more comfortable but now I'm not so sure. I don't like dancing, let alone in front of others so it's not really my thing, although when i see people do it i love SO MUCH. I did pitch the idea to FI and he's down with it if I want to.

We are so doing this!!! We didn't even know my FI could dance, he just doesn't seem like a dancer.... he's a video game, computer building geek. A oouple years ago at his brothers wedding he all of a sudden just started dancing to "ridin dirty" (very funny cause his bro is a cop!) and he was really good! All 300 guests were in absolute shock. He danced the night away. Now we'll see cops downtown and the ones we're not real close w/ will say Hey you're Sean's brother that can dance. We all chuckle. I've never actually seen the show. FI brought this idea to me months ago and its been his only request.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
