I did read that somewhere, I completely forgot about that. It makes sense. I think Im just going to hire the photog and not say anything. Im not happy about going with their DJ or even renting equipment from them just to set up an Ipod. I cant justify $550 just to hook up my Ipod. If Dulce ever gets back to me Im going to fight it.

*Thanks to everyone who helped me make a decision on this photog situation!* :)

How long did you have the Mexican trio for?

Way to go on the photog!!! Who are you going to go with?
If it's any concelation about the sound equipment...they kept someone there operating everything, including the ipod. It's basically like having a DJ only you got to pick each and every song you wanted played. We were really really happy with the decision to go this route. But on the other hand, we never even listened to the DJ, saw their work, etc so I'm not sure how bad or good they would've been, kwim?

The Mexican Trio we had for one hour (cocktail). I think it's was about $450/hour.

Im going with Adrian Herrera. I really wanted Del Sol but their price was double my budget. I think I read about how satisfied you and other brides were with using your Ipods, I have considered it, but that price is still steep. Did you have to give the people operating the equipment an itinerary of events so they knew what songs to play when? Was the experience like a DJ where a DJ would make announcements and kinda keep the party moving smoothly. My concern is I will be spending too much time telling them, "now we have to do this." "Now we have to do that." "Can you play this right now?" etc. Also, out of curiosity, is Dulce at the reception making sure things are running smoothly? Or do we just have to make sure everything get done ourselves? Knowing me, Ill be having so much fun I might forget to cut the cake or give myslef time for the bouquet toss! LOL

          Thanks for your help!

My FI and I have a friend who has a portable ipod dock that we are going to use. We are letting everyone pick out a fun playlist and pretty much go ipod to ipod, or where the mood takes us. I suppose I will be delegating someone to keep track of that for me! Not sure if this helps, but this is what we are going to do instead of paying for a DJ.

No, I didn't even know there would be people there operating the Ipod, it was just a bonus...it's probably why the cost is so high, because you pay for labor too and not just equipment. But before we left for Mexico we broke everything up into playlists on the ipod so it would be easy for anyone to know what should be playing (i.e. enterance music, first dance, dinner music, flower toss, dance music, etc.). Our group was great and kept the party going so I was kinda glad to not have a DJ saying cheesy things like "ok everyone dance now!" and we just had a family member annouce the bridal party so names wouldn't be mispronounced...and because she spoke English. Dulce took care of letting me know when things should happen as did the photographer...I was honestly having too much fun to care!! She stayed the whole time, until the very end when she told me they had to start wrapping up....so sad
You're going to have soooo much fun!! I'm so excited for you!!!!

Last DJ/music question: Did you get the 1 speaker or 2 speaker package? If I end up doing the Ipod thing for music, Im wondering if 1 speaker will be loud enough for a private event. Thanks again!!!

Natalia - The flower in your hair, was that the $30 one from the resort? Was there much of a selection? (if it was!) Thanks!

Yes, that was a flower from the resort. They had a huge selection...you can have whatever flower you want in whatever color you want.
Not sure if it cost $30 though...but I honestly can't remember.

My daughter is being married at Aventura Spa Palace May 20,2010! Her wedding planner, Yazmin, at Aventura Spa, has been fantastic! Yazmin actually contacted us in July 0f 2009. We had been in contact with Miami May and June of 2009. We were surprised that Yazmin contacted us so early. She has been so great. Everytime we have a question or concern, we sent her an email and she answers that day. We finally have all the details ironed out.

My daughter has hair and makeup in early afternoon, then wedding at 6PM in the Chichen Wedding Gazebo. We are having the long boardwalk that leads up to the gazebo decorated with white lilies, we will have a harpest, the harpest will play Canon in D as my daughter walks down boardwalk into the decorated gazebo, we selected the Sapphire wedding package, fireworks, horsedrawn carriage after ceremony instead of before so both bride and groom can ride around resort and get photos. We will have a 1 hour cocktail and hors d'oeurves reception on the Pandero Terrace with music system for dancing (they learned a rumba for their first dance). Wedding dinner in the ElGreco restaurant on the outside terrace.

                      We can not wait!!!!!
