Barcelo Maya

Recommended Posts

I booked my whole group through a travel agent but I have been working directly with the wedding coordinator myself. So far we have some paper work to fill out regarding the legality of the wedding but I have not yet been asked the guest list. It is still 6 months away... I am sure they will ask you soon if you are getting married in November.

We are getting married at the Palace on May 29, 2010. I just booked our trip through our TA for ourselves and guests. Prior to sending the manifest, I had been in contact with WC Victoria myself, but since receiving our travel arrangements, Victoria has sent everything through our TA and honestly, she receives much quicker responses from the WC than I ever did! We booked just last week and Victoria immediately emailed a "guest list" and stated it needed to be completed and sent back to them approx 2 months prior to the wedding. This was to try to ensure that our guests would be in close proximity to us on the resort, as well as for planning purposes re: food, drink, wedding set up etc...I would imagine this would apply for all the properties on the resort.huh.gif

We got married on 3/3/2011 at Barcelo Maya and we used takeitfoto as our photographers... they were great to work with and really nice people, great with communication, not too intrusive, and of course the pictures came out awesome.  We had two photographers (one male, one female which is perfect) for the whole day - they don't charge hourly - and they gave us plenty of pictures and their prices are totally reasonable.  Their website is http://www.fototakeit.com/foto_take_it/Home.html

We highly recommend them - can't say enough good things about them, all of our guests loved them too.

Hey Everyone.

I have recently heard that the Barcelo Maya is charging $500 USD per external photographer.  Has anyone else got this answer from them?  I've photographed alot of weddings there and it used to be $300 total so I'd be surprised if it has changed so drastically.

I have heard about this from other resorts too but have yet to confirm it.

Any information you have would help.

Thanks.

yes ,she does ! the barcelo is a beatiful resort and the beach is amazing. I really recomend the gazebo and for the dinner, the best location is in the palace beach. very private and close to the ocean. The bad thing about this, is the on site photographers are not good at all ,  and I have read very bad reviews.. and they charge you a $300 for an external photographer!

Don´t forget to double check the sound system they will use at your reception, on my reception the sound wasn´t the greatest...

We will be married there this November and yes the fee is now $500US to the Kodak/ Smile Market people :( OR you can pay for two nights accommodation (which is cheaper) It stinks but we are paying it since we are not interested in their photographers or their packages they offer.

Agreed! I thought the packages they offered were unrealistic for what we wanted, and after hearing the reviews, I knew I wasn't going to use their services. My FI and I are going to be paying for two nights accomodation, and we will be using the room for him the night before the wedding, and the next night for our photographer so the day after the wedding we can do our TTD

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
