Azul Sensatori Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Looks like a great time!! Thanks for sharing :)

I was also wondering, and this question is for all past/ future brides... As I'm in the process of doing the table assignments for the reception, I know that the resort sets up round tables of 8... Did anyone have tables of 9? And if so, was there enough room at the table? Two of our tables have 8 guests each so that worked out perfectly, but the other two tables have 9 guests each.

You could fit 9 people, but it will be tight. Another option might be to do tables of 6... Instead of the eight. A little more arm room anyway.

Is there a pool with a swim-up bar that ALL ages can go to?

Yes, there are 2 swim up bars for all ages. One on the family side and one on the front side of Zavas.

Hello, Just want to find out if anyone recently had the Surf and Turf dinner option and what did they think?

A few months back a girl said it was amazing but then I just read it was terrible.

I also wanted two tables of 10 since our group is small. Do you think that will be really tight?

Thanks

I don't think you'd be able to fit 2 round tables for 10; but you should be able to get them to set up long tables for you - even one long table for all (with you guys in the center).

Thanks in advance!

We booked the DJ but not the MC as well.  Since the rental comes with a MIC, we figured we could just get a friend to do a few key intros or even do it ourselves. We have 40 guests confirmed and paid for.

Is anyone out there doing a beach reception?  Is the only spot on the beach for a dinner reception the yoga spot?

I saw that you are now having the DJ with the MC as well.

We have 32 guest booked but our wedding is not till June so people could still come. I am really leaning towards a DJ because I dont want to have to worry about the music! Please let me know what you think about having one! I see your wedding is coming up soon :) exciting!!!!

This blog has been amazing to read! I would of never thought about some of this stuff you ladies have thought about doing.

A few questions  :D

Did anyone happen to get the free private event for 16 rooms booked? If so are you using this for your reception? I was told that I could but I could not pick the location.. Makes me a little nervous because I would love near the pool but I feel like that is a popular location.

We are having a cocktail party the Friday before our wedding. Did anyone have any ice breakers or anything like that at their cocktail party? Did anyone decorate for the cocktail party?

For the reception I was going to bring the centerpieces with me because lomas is over priced. Have most of yall also brought the table coverings?? Or did you purchase that threw them?

I was looking at the Lomas site.. Has anyone herd anything about the Donkey at wedding for after?  Doubt we will purchase that for fun because every little thing adds up but thought it was pretty funny and would make for fun pictures.

Last question: Can we bring in our own alcohol to the resort? I know it is all inclusive but one day before the wedding we wanted to go out and get some patron to have at a or the table/s for shots?

Happy Planning  :P

Murmel,

Thanks for the feedback! These tables of 9 are mainly our friends, and I figure everyone will be dancing most of the time anyways :)

June7BeachBride,

Our perks are a little different than yours it sounds like, but for the number of rooms that our guests booked (which for us it was 20 rooms), we received a discount off our room. We received a complimentary event through our travel agency though. However, we are having our reception at Plaza Zavaz by the pool and I think it's just so beautiful! All the pictures I've seen look really, really pretty. We are having our cocktail party at Zocalo Alfresco which I think is a great location too.

For our cocktail party I'm decorating a little bit. I purchased small flower arrangements through Lomas for the cocktail tables. It was $85 for 8 arrangements. I'm bringing my iPod, docking station and sashes to tie bows around the cocktail tables. We have a welcome/ rehearsal dinner the Friday before our wedding, and I am not decorating for that. I like the idea of ice breakers!

I was going to bring glass vases with me to make my own floating candle centerpieces, but I was so worried about the glass breaking. I know some brides brought them with no issues, and others purchased vases at a Walmart or store in Cancun. I decided to just purchase flower arrangements and votive candles through Lomas. However, I am bringing my own chair sashes and a few other decorations for the reception such as paper lanterns, string lights and some other miscellaneous decor.

We were initially looking at the donkey too lol! For the cocktail hour actually... But, I read on the banquet kit menu that the donkey is not allowed at the Azul Sensatori resort. This could have changed though.

No clue about the alcohol but that is a great idea! I love the thought of little bottles of patron at the tables for shots.. So fun!!

Good luck!!

Thank you for the input! It helps to know what others are bringing and not bringing. I am going to have to look at the flowers for the cocktail party because $85 for 8 is not bad.

Awh no donkey on the resort :( lol maybe we can have it come directly after the wedding on the beach just to jump start the laughs and fun. Maybe.. I emailed my travel agent that works with Azul resorts and she said she can give me a location to get alcohol near by so I am assuming that means we can bring into the resort? Maybe just secretly?

The "free private event" is constantly changing. You'll have to ask for specific details from your WC. Sometimes it's a cocktail party, or the rehearsal dinner, etc.

Decorating for the cocktail party. Personally we just had a sign to announce the area of our event and then I brought napkins with our wedding colours for the waiters to use. You really don't need much.

Centrepieces...I would thing it is about 50/50 regards brides who bring their own vs. buying the Lomas ones. Really depends on what you want and the cost. If you plan on bringing stuff, remember it will have to come with you. The resort will not accept you shipping something ahead of time. The tables all come with white table clothes (no extra fee) and the chairs have white covers(no fee). If you want colours that is extra. We just rented table runners...which I think were $8 each for a pop of colour.

The donkey is not allowed at the Sensatori., which includes the beach area-sorry.

You can bring your own alcohol onto the property. However you would not be allowed to serve it at the reception. If you could get mini bottles you might be able to get away with it as a wedding favour....but not set up as a bar/shot area. Mind you, the bar tenders love LOVE LOVE making shots to get the party rolling! Perhaps come up with a signature shooter for your wedding. The Mexican flag shooter is quite popular! :) or they might have a tequila you and your guests would enjoy.

Hi Murmel,

We were planning to have personalized shot glasses on the reception tables as wedding favors (yes - my family and friends will definitely use them!).  I had assumed we could get the waiters to pour tequila shots for the toasts during the reception.  I had also assumed we could specify certain brands of tequila such as Patron and get a bottle for the table.  Maybe I'm assuming too much.  Do you think this will be a problem?  Should I make this a 'special request' on the detail sheet with the wedding coordinator?

Hi JMK923,

I was not going to do any decorations for the Welcome Cocktail Party on Zocalo Terrace except for some paper napkins we ordered in our wedding colors.  But, if the small centerpieces are only $85 for 8, I'll order some.  Where did you see them on the Lomas website?  The cheapest I saw were $25 for a small vase with 2 roses.

Hi Jennypert,

They can make flower arrangements that are different and cheaper than they list on Lomas's website (shocker! lol). Lynda is my WC, and I have found with her that if i ask very specific questions, I can find a way to get things cheaper "ala carte."

I've basically started asking questions like "I want 8 centerpieces and I want to spend $85 total. what are my options?"

For example, I found out that a single rose or Lily is $10. The lillies seems like they are pretty big, so I'm going to have my bridesmaids hold a bouquet of 3 of them, which will cost me $30/ bouquet.

She also quoted me $10 for a glass vase to put the bouquet in for centerpieces. I'm not sure if i'm going to do that yet or bring my own vases. I read that one girl on the forum brought blume boxes (they cost $5 each) and put her bouquets in those, so I might be doing that instead. the way Lomas nickle and dimes you, every little bit of savings helps!!!

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
