Yup, your photographer will be fine.  Still has to fill out the paperwork properly when entering the country, but as far as the hotel goes they will be fine.

I am just curious if any of the rest of you are planning to use Fernando as the hair and make up artist... I have been in contact with him and worked out pricing etc, and now he wants me to just send a deposit to a random bank account # or mail him a cheque and without me having a contract etc?

What are the rest of your experiences I think this is crazy?

I feel a little bit like I am bad at being a bride. My fiancé and I filled out all the forms the resort gave us and I bought my dress and I am not motivated to do much else. I am worried that it won't feel like a wedding if I don't do extra stuff like make decorations and such. Do I really need to do that stuff? Is it still going to be very weddingy if I just show up in Mexico with my dress and my vows? I just want to make sure I am doing what I need to make my day special any input is appreciated. :)

Hi Holly!

I think part of the appeal for me about a DW was that I didn't have to do all of that stuff.  I want to have this process be easy and stress free.  I'm not overly crafty and I don't want to have to lug a bunch of stuff down to Mexico.  Therefore, I am not doing any decorations - the beach and ocean and palm trees are my decorations, lol!

I look at some of my friends having a wedding at home and am astonished about the stuff they have to worry about (decorating the ceiling of the hall? seriously?), and am so relieved that I don't have to even entertain those thoughts.

I think you would be absolutely fine if you didn't do all the "extras".  Do any of those extras matter to you?  If not, don't worry.

Ultimately, I think that a DW is whatever you want it to be.  If you are excited to marry your fiance and go on a beautiful vacation, that's all that matters :)  It will be special to you because you are happy. :)

PM me if you want to discuss this further, lol.  I know that sometimes I feel like a bit of a rarity because I don't want to do any extras, I just want to show up! lol.

Oh I don't think you'll feel bad at all!  The resort is gorgeous, there is plenty included in your package to make you feel bridal (bouquet, hair, dinner).  It'll be perfect, less stressful, and less expensive!

Question - if you do the wedding dinner included in the package, what is it like? I'm imagining that its just like any other a la carte night, but with your group sectioned together with some decorations in the table? Wondering if you are just mixed in w the rest of the people? We are doing a poolside reception so I'm thinking that's where speeches should be done, since it will just be us?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
