Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I'd agree with not doing programs. We did a welcome brochure and by the time we delivered it with our mugs a couple weeks ago, one of the times had already changed and now we're having to contact everyone to let them know.

Your dress is BEAUTIFUL!! It is very similar to my daughters..are you going to carry it on the plane? I took my daughters dress to the airport to show to american airlines to see if they would put it in their on board closet and the ticket counter person said she could not tell me if they would do that..she said it is the senior flight attendant of the flight that will decide if it can go in the closet or below in the cargo bins.....so now i am a little worried...

Bring the dress on the plane. I don't care how huge it is, I highly doubt anyone would tell a bride "I'm sorry, you're going to have to cram that in an overhead bin or check it". Maybe if they had a death wish...

Thanks for reassuring me about the programs girls. I had made up my mind not to do them but I was getting that nagging "but what if someone thinks it's weird that I don't have them" feeling. I'm over it. Thanks!

I'm almost done my pre-departure brochure and I have a wedding day itinerary on it with a disclaimer that says "will be confirmed upon arrival" so that should do the trick.

Question: What did you girls do for programs? I'm thinking I'm not going to bother at this point since I don't even know the structure of the ceremony and everyone will know our wedding party by then. Thoughts?
Ya I have decided to just let it be ha-ha!

Thanks! I LOVE IT! I am bringing my dress on the plane and hoping for no grumpy flight crew. They will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers before I would check it ha-ha. Iâ€m sure you daughter will be fine. I am flying with Air Transat so I hope they are good.

Question for any of those brides that have gotten married there recently.....are you still able to dine at any of the restaurants at all three resorts (Coba, Tulum & Akumal) during your stay? When I was there a year ago that was the case, but looking at their website today, it looks like they have restrictions now. What's the word?! lol

Thanks ladies :)

Yes you can still eat at all the hotels, but you dont have the choice to go anywhere for your wedding. I got married at Akumal and we had to pick a restaurant at Akumal for our wedding dinner.

As for the dress.... I flew with air transat and they do have garmet bag dimensions, but when I flew they didnt measure. They told me that they do not have closets, I had to put my dress in the overhead compartment, but it ended up being fine. It also says on their website that they do not have closets and gives you the dimensions. The dimensions are small, so i just a regular garmet bag that you can fold in half.

I was there over NYE this year and even though the various websites say you aren't allowed to eat everywhere, you are. They don't care. Only thing you're not allowed to do is go use the computers at the Golden lobby unless you're a golden or VIP customer. Although... when we were there, we didn't really notice them checking all that hard. It was just a little room with 3 computers in it. When you have free wifi in all the main lobbies, it doesn't matter too much unless you didn't bring a device.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
