I actually planned my wedding when there wasn't very many GBP brides or any reviews of the poolside reception, so I had NO idea what to expect. i didn't know if "DJ" meant CD player in their minds, so I actually was very prepared and brought down all of my music. I had enough for the wedding, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.
In the end, I didn't need it. It was nice to have a few of our songs though.
I basically handed him my CDs, told him which ones NEEDED to be played and then he mixed my music with his music and kept the crowd moving. And yes, he is open to requests... but he might not have the music.
To me, there was no need to contact him before I went. He did just fine. However, he didn't announce us or anything. My dad took the mic and did that. Not sure how that was arranged or anything though, it just happened.

have a great time heidi!

well... it's less than 3 months til our big day now. is this when i should be hearing from yuritizia?

tsleege, can you tell me about the restaurant choices on the akumal side? i know you did the poolside and that has its own set of menu choices, but was there an akumal a la cart that you would recommend? is the arlequin the only one that overlooks the water? i'm guessing that one's not available as a choice though, right?

Wishing you all the Best Heidi!!

Although...you don't really need luck...judging from the weather...you picked the perfect time to go!! As I freeze my butt off here in snowy Alberta...I am thinking of you sitting in the sun on the beach with a drink in hand!! What do we expect for May long weekend though right?!?!

Congratulations!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back...

Arlequin we never got to. It's not one of the wedding choices though. The one that overlooks the activity pool is though... but I forget the name of it. We ate at the italian one. It was good.

hey everyone, we are planning our date for april 2010 on the Tulum side. For the past 3 days now we haven't been able to get a hold of anyone to book our date. Anyone have a number that will go through to someone. What else do we need to do to set a date for our wedding ? do we need to have the hotel and everything booked before they will hold it for us ?? or do they just take a deposit ? i tried searching for theses answers but this is such a large thread !!

Thanks in advance

ColinB,

I emailed Paloma and booked a wedding date with her that way. Once we spoke to our travel agent and got our group confirmation number I forwarded that to Paloma and then she sent a reply with a confirmation of wedding date and location and approximate time. We haven't paid anything yet. I think from reading here that takes place once you are there?

We are also having our wedding April 2010, April 1st actually. We are staying on the Coba side but having the ceremony at the gazebo.

Good luck planning,

Jules

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
