Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

From the looks of it, it appears I'm not the only one having a hard time trying to get in contact with the wedding directors/coordinators at the Gran Bahia resorts. I have emailed Paloma several times over the past couple weeks trying to book a date for October 2012. On Friday, I received an out of office until 7 November 2011 reply. I'm getting a little nervous as I know DW book far in advance and I'm trying to land a specific date in October that holds significance to my fiance and I. Any advice anyone can give on how to reach someone directly would be greatly appreciated!

I am gettting married June 5, 2012. I would like to book the Akumal Hammok location it looks beautiful. I think we are going to have a pool party as well. What kind of food is the Portofino serve? How many people are attending your wedding? That would be great if you could post the pictures of the restaruant. This site is so helpful I am cant stop looking at all the forums.

lmadore...we're booked for Nov 2012 also and it was pretty easy picking the day for us. We leave Nov 27th..and we'll wait the 2 days and our ceremony is Nov 30. Easy peasy. That way we still have 4 days after the wedding to CHILLAX on the beach!!

I will keep that in mind.

that seems to be the address from the website - but your travel agent should have given u a direct email for your resort

Which resort are you booked with? Coba? Akumal? Or Tulum?

Below is Paloma's information that I have been using... once you speak with her she will put you in touch with the wedding coordinator of the resort you are staying in (Akumal, Coba, Tulum). Before they will officially reserve the wedding location and date for you they are going to ask for you travel reservation information, so if you are really worried about dates and times, be prepared to book quickly and have that information to give to Paloma so you will be secured for your date and time. Good luck!

Sunshine2680 and StylishmdNC....thanks for the info! Yes, I have also emailed [email protected] and haven't heard anything, neither has my travel agent. That is kind of backwards how they require you to have a reservation first before they officially reserve the wedding location. What if we make our reservation, but the specific date and location that we want is not available? I will continue to wait patiently until I hear back from someone because we would really love to have our wedding at this resort. I wish I owned a private jet so that I could fly out to Mexico on my lunch break and speak with someone face to face, lol! Thanks again for the info!

Yeah I found it really strange to require you book travel before you get a wedding date.  Once we picked a date we emailed the hotel and asked if they had anything available for that day...then as soon as they said it was available we booked our travel.  Which was really annoying because once I got confirmation of an available date I found out my travel agent was out of town for the next two weeks, since I had already pushed my wedding back 3 weeks because of delays like this we booked our trip ourselves on the Internet.  It would be nice if you could reserve a wedding date then they give you maybe a month to book travel.  It does seems like a pain, also it would be much easier if you have a travel agent that is actually on the ball and gets things done quickly.

When I booked,  I didn't need my booking number right away. I picked a date, had them schedule me in for it, and then sent them my booking number once we had actually booked the flight. There was no problem with it.

Also, I got the date and time I wanted, and only booked 9 months before my wedding, so for those of you stressing whose weddings are over a year away, your dates should be fine, :)  and take it from a stressed out person as myself right now, with one month to go - enjoy the planning! It really is a pretty simple process. And don't stress if you don't hear from the wedding coordinators for a few weeks when you wedding is so far in the future. I would go weeks without hearing, but now I hear every other day or so, and they really are on top of the game, and have everything under control!

Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
