When is it ok to throw away a gift? 4 monthshuh.gif
Barb, keep them in the closet for regifting! Or as hostess gifts when you go to dinner parties haha. Also...can you say white elephant exchange?

I pull the sweatshirt out and there it is...My FI's picture enlarged covering the entire front of the sweatshirt....and in puffy paint it says 'He's all mine!'! hahahahahahaha I am just thankful that they weren't there when we opened the gifts...cuz I laughed soooooo hard. Thought it was a prank almost....til I opened box two....once again....a beautiful sweatshirt in a gorgeous color. This time, the enlarged photo was a picture of the three of us (FI, Myself and my soon to be step daughter) with writing in puffy paint.

I have them both in a drawer.....waiting the appropriate time that I can maybe turn them into throw pillows or something. My step daughter teases me weekly still asking when I'm gonna wear them!!! I don't know if I could wear them around the house without laughing the entire time!

I've gotten some interesting gifts over the years. Mainly they are things that simply are not my taste.

Everyone teases me that I am too gracious (thanks to my Nana) so I get lots of gag gifts. My cousin gave me this HORRIBLE yarn doll that one of her geriatric patients made for her. It had fake eyelashes and googly eyes and red sequined lips. We made it the travelling gift, so someone got it for Christmas, wedding, baby shower, graduation, etc. I think someone did end up losing it during a move. My Aunt did lose it once before on accident and PAID TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE MADE!!!

  • 2 years later...

I had to revive this thread because it's so hilarious! Ok, I have 2.

Christmas eve, and we're all getting ready to open gifts. My cousin comes up to me and is like, 'I'm warning you ahead of time, but what Uncle B got you is NOT a joke. He really thinks it's a good gift for you.' hmmmm.... So I open the gift, and it's a Chihuahua statue that stood about a foot tall! HAHA!! When I opened it he was like, 'when I saw that I thought of you'. NO clue why!

Second- I was dating a guy for a few months, and I got him a few little things (CD, Gift certificate to get his tongue pierced (gross I know!), baked him cookies.) So I didn't get him a TON, but what I got was two christmas ornaments. Cheap ones, and they still had the stickers from 7-11 on them and they were $2.00 each!

The fruit was attched to the bowl!!!

It probably doesn't sound that bad, but trust me....
OMG, an older lady gave my sister the same gift at her shower! I agree with you. My sister re-gifted it to another older lady in our church!

I love when old threads get bumped! Apparently I read and participated in this conversation, but I can't remember any part of it. LOL... I've yapped too much on the forum.

The only bad thing about regifting shitty gifts is that I don't want the other person to think I have bad taste!

The worst gift I ever received was a gag birthday gift, I have a friend who thinks they are the best ever. I received a clown lamp. Clowns are scary to me and this one was particularly bad. He had one shoe with toes exposed and painted toenails. In one hand he was holding wilted flowers. I could only imagine some pedophile clown. If the gift wasn't bad enough, that night when I went to bed (after a birthday celebration with a few drinks) the clown was sitting on my bedside table staring at me.

My ex-in laws had a regifting exchange for Christmas celebration so the clown was regifted the next year (after sitting in my garage for a few months... in a trash bag so I didn't have to see it).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
