  1. Wow!!! I agree, you should let them know that you think everyone should consult you before purchasing anything else for your wedding. Not because you don’t appreciate their help, but because you don't know what is provided by the resort yet, what other people have already bought, and you don't want them to waist their money on stuff you might not be able to use. We really want to pick out our own accessories so we just let everyone know from the beginning not to buy us any wedding stuff. We really want to pick our own cake topper, guest book, wedding album, etc. so everything matches and flows well. I think everyone understands that. It's your wedding and that doesn't make you a bridezilla, haha.
  2. I can't believe they gave your spot away, that's crazy. I hope that doesn't happen to me. I would probably go to Aventura if it did though. I hear it's really nice.
  3. Wow, that is alot of people already. I agree, I would start working on invitations. I didn't do save the date cards and its been fine. I just sent the invitations out pretty early and made a website where i've been keeping track of the guest list. I have an area on there where everyone can write messages and keep in touch along the way. It's working pretty well.
  4. Yeah, we get back on your day. It's coming up fast!
  5. We went to Paris last September. I thought he might propose there but he's not very creative so when he didn't pop the question on the tower I was sure he wasn't going to, lol. We left the tower and grabbed a bottle of wine and sat in the park under the tower to watch the lights. We were half way threw the bottle, having so much fun when he finally asked. I was so surprised. It was really romantic. He was so nervous and cute. We ran back to our hotel and called everyone right away. A few days later we met up with some friends in Germany for Octoberfest. The first night we drank WAY too much and I LOST THE RING.....yeah I did. I lost it in some shady night club, classy right? Lucky for me he bought a replica for the trip (smart man) and my real ring was safe at home. I will never live it down...
  6. It's nice to see another Calgarian! Anyway, I was on Alesse for awhile and I had no trouble. It's one of the only pills I can use.
  7. I have been with FI for 9 years and we have been living together for 5. It sounds long but we started dating in high school. We are only 25 now.
  8. Thanks for passing this on. I know it will come in handy. I love the inside of the placecards. We are giving everyone little photo albums and something like that would be great to put inside.
  9. I didn't think of that. Have you found alot of people on ebay? I will definatly have to look into that. Thanks for the tip!
  10. Yeah, I saw some pictures from the resort photographer and they looked really nice. I'm still going to look into bringing my own photographer, but if it's too much it's alright. The resort pics put my mind at ease.
  11. I'm also getting married at Moon Palace (Last week of Sept) and then going to the El Dorado for the honeymoon. Since you're going first I might just have some questions for you when you get back, hahaha. Did you go for the Casita's at El Dorado?
  12. If you have decided to go with the resort photographer, have you decided on a package yet? I am still really debating the resort photographer. I'm hoping it's good because I really don't want to spend $4000 extra, but at the same time, the pictures are SO important.
  13. Welcome!!! I'm sure you will get alot of tips here before you choose your location. I'm getting married in the Cancun/ Mayan area so if you need any info on resorts around there let me know. Barb
  14. I'm in the same boat. My sister is my MOH and we arent doing bridesmaids. I really want to incorporate my FI's sister but don't know what to do. I like the idea of incorporating her in a sand ceramony.

It had fake eyelashes and googly eyes and red sequined lips. We made it the travelling gift, so someone got it for Christmas, wedding, baby shower, graduation, etc. I think someone did end up losing it during a move. My Aunt did lose it once before on accident and PAID TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE MADE!!! Wow, that's too funny.
  16. I KNOW!!!!! I'm in Calgary and it's been beautiful for the last month and all of a sudden we woke up to 2 feet of snow this morning? WTF? I couldn't even get to work this morning, it took me an hour to get 2 blocks from my house. It's supposed to be a nice week though.
  17. Wow, the dress is SO nice. Both of you.
  18. Ok, I have a good one. Last Christmas my FI got me a bath set (He got me other stuff but we'll keep this short and just focus on the bath set) It wouldn't be that bad except I can't use that perfumy stuff and he knows that. I have really sensitive skin and can only use the good stuff, not that cheep perfumy crap. (I also think it's a little impersonel, like a candle). Anyway, I "joking" made fun of his lame gift and it came back to bite me in the butt. We went to his parent’s house later that morning and guess what his whole family got me? Yep, bath sets. Then we went to my families for dinner, and guess what everyone got me? Bath sets. I had this massive box from my brother so I saved it for last thinking I would get one good thing. Nope, it was the biggest bath set I’ve ever seen. My FI called it karma for making fun of his gift, but I literally got nothing but bath sets for Christmas. I have no idea where to put this stuff or how long I have to keep it for but I’ve got like 15 separate stinky sets. I will never be unappreciative of a gift again!!! When is it ok to throw away a gift? 4 months
  19. I am currently an Engineering Documentation Controller for a drilling equipment company. I'm on the look out for something new right now though as we were bought out by a company out of Houston and now this is the worst job ever!!!
  20. I just started buying exersize videos. I have a gym membership but I can't find time in my schedule to go as much as I need to. I thought they would be kind of cheesy but it's actually pretty fun. It really works too, I did the pilates at home and I could really feel it.
  21. Yeah, my husband is going to have to fight me to get that thing off when it's all said and done. I'm small but i'm sure I can take him. I might get a whole week out of that dress....maybe two, haha. It will take another month before we even talk about losing the tiara.
  22. I was in the same situation. That feeling wont go away, trust me. I bought the dress 4 months ago. I started to realize that it only had that WOW factor in comparison to all the other dresses I tried on that day. I completely described the simple dress that I wanted and the lady in the store said they had nothing like it. I wanted simple and classy and as beautifull as the dress was, it was far from simple. The lady really had me convinced I wouldn't find anything like what I had described so I settled. It really started to bother me and when I pictured myself in the dress it just wasn't the same any more. I went bridesmaid dress shopping last weekend with my sister (not intending to buy a new dress for myself) and as soon as we walked in, there was my dress. Exactly what I wanted to start with. I canceled the old one (the new one was so much cheeper it was worth losing my deposit) and I am so happy now. I didn't think I cared as much as I did but it felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I am just thankfull I got what I really wanted before it was too late. I love my new dress!

    New bride to be!

That would be great. We were told that the Terrace Benada would be the best but I want to see more before we choose.

    New bride to be!

Yeah, I have started calling the FL office. They said they were working on getting me in touch with my wedding planner. We want some samples of the photography too. We are going to have a private reception so thats been a little hard to figure out. I really wanted them to send me some pictures of the Teraces and Gazebos before we choose but I haven't received anything yet. We haven't been to the Moon Palace. Their wedding package is really great though in comparison to others we looked into. We also have the delux civil wedding package. If they send me some pictures soon i'll be sure to pass them on.
