If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?
Also...call cheapcarribean.com directly. They do not do group rates per se. But they will give you a direct contact who can handle all of your guests travel arrangements and it will be a bit more personal and organized than telling everyone to book online.

Sap,

Thank you soooo much. You have no idea how important your reply was to me. It's also wonderful to know that they will give me a direct contact which definitely makes things a lot easier.. thank you thank you thank you!!!!

My wedding coordinator also commented on how she has never heard of anyone having a problem with Dreams reservations thru Cheap caribbean.

This is great because they are definitely pricing a few hundred dollars cheaper....EXCELLENT!

I believe that traveling outside the resort areas is not really recommended. This is from a couple of different sources including friends who are Dominican...not that it's "terrible" I was just told tourists are better off staying at the resort. A "Better safe than sorry" kind of attitude.

Hiya!!! Please do not be afraid to go out of the hotel. The only issue with dreams is it is a little further out of the Bavaro village area, so a short taxi ride will get you to Bavaro. Once there, there are a few plazas with shops, bars, a cinema, hard rock cafe etc. it is small and still developing, but still worth an afternoon out of the hotel complex.

There are loads of excursions to do which are sold at the tour desks in the hotels, taking one of the big open top trucks is a great way to see the real DR. Or theres plenty of boat options too, like a relaxing catamaran or swimming with sharks and rays :) HAVE FUN!!

i definitely recommend the fodor's book on the DR. my photog actually sent it to me and it is the best way to see exactly where all of the resorts are with respect to other attractions. it also has fantastic tips and info for just traveling to the DR in general!

i am bringing my own photographer, but that is definitely a personal preference. i loved her style and i know that the day is going to be such a blur that we need it captured right!! i think i was turned off by how few pictures they offer in their packages, but they still have decent prices are their pictures are very pretty.

like i said, defintely personal preference, but if you are at all interested in bringing an outside photographer there are a few choices in the DR and i can pass along names of some of the amazing photogs on here that i have talked to as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
