Do You Eat Breakfast?

Ok well I'm not much help because I adore yogurt and eat it with shredded wheat/bran minis every morning. But what about any of the following:

- PB&J made with "light" (40 calorie) bread w/ 1 tbsp. PB and light suger free jelly?

- PB & banana (same as above except substitute the jelly with a banana

- western bagel "alternative bagel" (delicious!) toasted with 2 Tbsp. light cream cheese

- Egg whites scrambled with sliced onions, mushrooms, etc. (cooked with just a dash of olive oil or cooking spray for no added fat). Add salsa, tomatoes, chives, whatever veggies you like!

- fat free soy or skim milk latte (if you drink coffee) and a banana?

- wheat toast with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on it

- apple and string cheese

I guess my point is it doesn't have to be "breakfast" food. It can be anything! Anyway for added incentive (and to reinforce your trainer's point) I have this article excerpt:

Women who eat breakfast, especially those who eat cereal, are less likely to be overweight than women who don't

Environmental Nutrition, Nov, 2005

Women who eat breakfast, especially those who eat cereal, are less likely to be overweight than women who don't. That's the finding of Michigan State University researchers who analyzed government survey data from more than 4,200 men and women 19 and older. They found that women who ate breakfast were 24% less likely to be overweight compared to nonbreakfast eaters and 30% less likely if breakfast included ready-to-eat cereal. The breakfast connection did not hold true for men.

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I think it's b/c I love sweet and savory together. It's always my first choice in diners...especially after a late night out. But alas...waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausages, hash browns aren't the most healthy choices. So a bowl of cereal w/ soy milk and a cup of black coffee usually does the trick...sheesh, how boring.

I eat a California Suncake at 8:30 with a coffee and am rarely hungry before 12, usually even 1. Too easy, I take a bag of 5 out of the freezer and to work with me on Monday and don't think about breakfast again all week.

Suncakes Store

(disclaimer: FI says they're like eating a hockey puck, but if you just want to get the breakfast done healthy and fast, there's nothing better)

As for yogurt, I just got my own yogurt maker. It's so easy and the yogurt tastes soo much better than store bought. It's creamy and smooth, rather than tart or sour as store bought can be. And, since you make it yourself, you know there are no added sugars or chemicals. I love it!

Hi. How about a rice cake with natural peanut butter on top ( I like the almond butter that you grind in the store-looks gross, but good and less sugar and sodium than jar stuff) and then thinly slice banana or apples on top. It is actually pretty tasty.

For a good dose of protein that is low fat and low calorie- Have your tried Morning Star (brand) breakfast patties? They are in the frozen section near healthy aisle. I put 1 or 2 in the toaster oven and let them bake for 10 or so min. while I get ready in the morning and I am no kidding they are really good.

I LOVE smart start, although I don't have a whole cabinet packed with it, lol!

really the two major evils that you have to look out for if you want to slim down are trans fats (anything partially or hydrogonated oil wise) and high fructose corn syrup. your body sees them as a chemical so there for it doesnt know how to break it down and your body will directly store it as a fat molecule. they sneak those things in everything and even if it says 0 trans fats you have to read the label because it might be half gram per serving. well a serving might only be 3 table spoons so be careful. i cut those two things out of my diet and ive lost 15 pounds just from that alone. feels good :)

So, my trainer suggested yogurt, so I got some Activia. God, I HATE yogurt. I am gagging trying to get this crap down.

I got some smoothies too, but really don't like milky stuff very much, and milk doesn't settle well with me anyway.
Do you know how annoying it is that there are no Waffle House's in New York, at least NY Cityhuh.gif The only time I get to eat there is when we're headed down to Maryland or North Carolina. I mean I guess its good that they don't have one near cuz if they did me & FI would be in troubllllee!

Anyway, have you tried the different flavors of Activia? Vanilla is great, so is strawberry. And definitely add some granola or strawberries/blueberries. That should really help. I don't know how healthy it is but the McDonalds parfait is GREAT!

In terms of smoothies why don't you make fruit smoothies without milk? I use a cup of yogurt, a cup of OJ, half of a frozen banana (or the whole thing depending on your taste), frozen peaches & frozen strawberries. Put it in the blender & you've got yourself a great treat. If its not sweet enough for you add a bit of sugar & that should help. You can try it with any type of fruit you like but always add the frozen banana. If its too thick at first, just add more OJ till it gets to your desired consistency.

Ok, I stopped reading all the responses because I was getting far too hungry... but I wanted to comment on the yogurt part. I HATEEEEE yogurt. It's so gross, but I have fallen in love with the Danissimo yogurt (by Danon) - it pretty much tastes like ice cream... sooooooo good! I have one every day and they have the BEST flavours ever like banana cream and lemon moringue(sp?). I couldn't get into the activia thing, but I do like Danissimo. :)

Yoplait yogurt is the best, IMO.

I am doing WW so I eat a light Yoplait, banana and some V8. Feels me up!

I NEVER use to eat breakfast, but it truly is so important for your metabolism. I eat in the car on the way to work. :)

I wake up at 4:45 every week day and leave the house at 6:30. If I can do it, you can do it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
