1) Why are you worth the amount you charge? There are many reasons we charge the rates we do, some of which are quite obvious: all of our photographers have many years of experience and many, many weddings under their belts, we offer full resolution images with full reproduction rights, we use very expensive equipment, we edit the photos ourselves – each of the photographers edit the photos from the wedding, their own and the second-shooter’s; then there are the “hidden” costs, like having a beautiful lounge in most hotels we work with, having to pay all the additional people involved in the process of organizing photography and cinematography for a wedding – our colleagues at the Call Center, our Wedding Planners that meet the bride and groom in the hotel and help plan and organize the whole experience etc. 2) Do you shoot natural light or artificial light? Or both? All of our photographers in DreamArt, myself included, are comfortable shooting both. We do prefer using natural light whenever possible and as late as possible, but we also always look for opportunities to be creative with off-camera flash, or complement that available light with a little fill from our flashes. We also use flash to create better quality photographs when there is an actual need for the extra light – like during a reception where there isn’t much light or the light is in all different and weird colors. 3) Do you back up your files online just in case of a fire? Do you have backup equipment? We actually have several backup plans in place at all times. First off, we download the photos to the photo lounge in the hotel the same day we take them. Second, we have a NAS in place in our main office, where everything gets copied to, then there is the Online Gallery, where our brides can actually access and download their photos at all times. We also keep our photos for a minimum of eight months, most of the time much longer than that. 4) Will I get a high resolution DVD? We actually give the Full Resolution images (between 20 and 40 megapixels’ resolution), which is perfect for doing both large prints – we regularly print our photos in 18*12 inches – and also larger or smaller things too, like huge canvas prints or just regular 6*8 inch prints. We also give our photos on USB and online. Both versions are the full resolution files. 5) How do you make us feel relaxed for the photographs, especially when posing? Both myself and all of my colleagues have extensive experience working with people, from all walks of life, and we also have photographed quite a few weddings (I photographed over 150 weddings). Also, we all come from different parts of the world, so, if nothing else, our quirky accents will make you laugh. 6) What is your shooting style? Do you focus on storytelling? We pride ourselves in capturing your special day with all the possible details, storytelling being the main focus. It will be a combination of both photojournalism and some posed shots (especially the group shots and some of the bride and groom). We tend to be as unobtrusive as possible so as to be able to capture all those natural, genuine moments that cannot be posed and planned for, nor repeated. We only take center stage when we need to organize a specific shot. 7) Will you help us with the planning of photos and video for the wedding day? Yes. The most important things for us are for the bride and groom to first, have a great time and not worry about anything, and second for their photos to be as beautiful as possible. Since we live here and know what light is better, how long it takes to move from one place to the next inside the hotels, what can end up taking longer than initially thought etc. we do our best to help you plan accordingly, so that you take advantage of the best places with the best possible light and with all the time you have with your photographers and videographers. It happens often for a bide to come to the interview with our Wedding Planners with a specific timeline in mind or even written down, and leave with a very different schedule after that meeting. We try to have the photographer present during that interview, or at least have several questions and ideas written down by our Wedding Planners and communicated to the photographer. 8) What happens if you get sick on my day? We are very lucky in the sense that we always have someone that can take over if needed. The benefit of working with such a talented team for such a long time (there are around 40 photographers in DreamArt, and we have been working together for the past 3 years, or more) is that if you were to have a situation where you really can’t attend a wedding, one of your colleagues could take your place easily. This is something that hardly ever happens, and it has never happened to me personally. 9) What happens if it rains? This is an important question, because most brides would think their photos and video would be ruined if this happens. This is actually not the case. There are some photographs that can only be done on a rainy day, with rain as a backdrop. We always make the best of any situation and rain is just that: a different situation. There is always a Plan B in terms of where your cocktail or reception will take place, in case of bad weather, and we also I have also offered couples an hour of two of extra time on a different day so we can get photos with the beautiful Caribbean Sea in the background, rather than just rain. DreamArt Photography is the leading luxury photography company based in resorts in Mexico and Jamaica. In the past years, DreamArt Photography & Video has become world leader in its category with more than 1,000 weddings, 6,000 lifestyle sessions, and almost 250 events yearly, in both four and five diamond resorts. Hi! I am starting my DW research. Planning on November 2017. I have narrowed it down to RIU Playacar and Barcelo Maya. I am leaning more towards RIU Playacar due to price. I also have a lot of family traveling from England. How do I ensure everyone gets the best price when my travel agency doesn't help with flights from England? Has anyone else had this issue? I really want the Barcelo Maya, I have heard only great reviews, however the price is a bit high for my guests, and I do want people to actually come! Has anyone had a good experience at RIU Playacar? It has been renovated since 2015 and the grounds/rooms look great. I'm looking for simple. I don't have a lot of specific ideas myself. I am good to use everything that comes with a package with a few add-ons. But I don't want to be ripped off by going only with what the resort has to offer. Any help or experience would be great! -SMiles.

I am so glad that I found a community of brides and grooms that are planning a destination wedding just like me. I just recently got engaged to the man of my dreams and now we are ready to start planning the wedding of our dreams. We originally had plans set for a wedding here locally but as the planning continued our budget raised to close to $35,000 and I began to question if it was worth it. After several events we decided to stick with a destination wedding, and I couldn't be happier! I've spent 6 weeks researching resorts and I have made the decision on Now Sapphire Resort. From the pricing to the reviews I believe I made the best choice. We are looking at approximately 25-30 guests with a budget hopefully of 15,000. We would love to get married next year but we want to do things right and allow our guests to have enough time to pay for this vacation as well as take care of a few life situations therefore we decided to go for a 2018 wedding which is fine with me Me being a newbie and not having any experience in this I am feeling a bit overwhelmed planning this wedding. I would love to hear your stories thus far on wedding planning, etc. I also have a few questions so if anyone could assist me that would be great! 1) When planning your wedding did you use a travel planner? Is it best to have a travel planner for your guests? 2) Do you plan on visiting your resort prior to your wedding day? 3) I've done some research and found that a lot of brides brought some decorations to help with costs can anyone provide some advice on doing this? 4) What date did you book you wedding day for? We originally planned for August 18, 2018 (Our anniversary) but I have been scared off by the chances of rain and it being hurricane season. 5) What is your budget, how easy has it been to stick with it? So excited to meet you all, and I look forward to planning with you!

Hi everyone! I'm getting married 1/21/17 at Azul Sensatori- A Karisma resort in Riviera maya Mexico. I have had my heart set on using a Live solo musician for the ceremony and having them play the Love Actually theme song ie. Glasgow Love Theme by Craig Armstrong for the processional. I had booked the violinist but their song lists are terrible and so short. It seems ridiculous to pay a grand for 45 minutes when we have zero control over song choices. My WC is looking to see if they will play it but she seems clueless about it so far. Anyone have any experience with these live musicians or have any advice? Anyone book a live musician and get to choose a song for them to play? That's what I'd love clarification on and I feel like my WC will never know. Thank you so much!

Hi everyone I am getting married at the Grand Lucayan Hotel on Grand Bahama in April 2017 and I am looking to hire a musician or band for an hour or two for either the cocktail reception or ceremony. Ideally I am looking for a steel drum player or band but I am open to any other types of musicians that come recommended for a wedding. Any recommendations gratefully received! Georgie

Hey, ladies! Thought I'd start a post specifically for brides getting married in PV in 2016. Looking for vendor ideas and reviews - specifically for DJs/bands. My date is April 22 and I'm working with Kelley Kahrhoff for coordination. I have ceremony and reception venues booked -- Our Lady of Guadalupe for the ceremony and Villa Celeste for the reception. I'm also in the process of booking Vista Grille for the rehearsal dinner. I still need music, photographer, florist, etc. Anyone else getting married in PV in 2016?? Who are you working with so far?? Any good ideas you've come across for welcome parties?? Thanks!!

My fiancé and I have decided on a destination wedding and we are so excited!!! We have been looking into various places (Punta Cana, Cancun, Costa Rica, etc.) and we really want to have everything at an adult-only all inclusive resort. Where I am having trouble is finding a place that is really nice, but also not outrageous pricing for my guests. We plan to have between 25-35 guests. All of that being said, does anyone know of great places we could go that are really nice but not to overpriced? And do most places give an overall discount for rooms when there are a lot of guests?

Hi there, are there any recent barcelo brides. I need your help please!! I am getting married in June of 2017. Mint breeze package with approx 50 guest only 4 hours of reception. Do I have a choice to use one of the grills like the coral grill if available? If I do has anyone used it for their reception? Was it hot or uncomfortable? I heard there is no AC and as I mentioned I will be getting married in June and the humidity...whoooooah!! I don't mind the banquet room but do they make it look nice and decent? Also if I bring my own decoration will the wc set that up for me or do I have to? I appreciate any advice help or recommendations! Thanks

Hi Ladies, I have been a member of this forum for a very long time and it has been essential in helping me to plan my wedding back in 2014. I feel like I have been not so great at giving back, so I'm coming back to share my personal experiences and help other brides to have an amazing wedding in Mexico Like I had:-) I feel like there is a lot of info regarding getting married at All-inclusives and other resorts, but not so much regarding a Beach Villa, which was our dream venue...and we finally have found one in Tulum: Hacienda Paraiso. here is my wedding video: https://vimeo.com/142955264 So this thread is dedicated to a Private Beach Villa non-cookie cutter wedding and what to expect. I hope I can help a few new brides and finally give back. so ask away...:-)

I am getting married at Moon Palace on Aug 2016. If you are thinking to pick this resort for your big day, please please, think twice. They do charge you external vendor fees PER SERVICE, even if you have one supplier who is bringing you the decoration, entretaiment, sweet table, etc. they do want to charge you 800 dollars PER SERVICE. For instance, if you have live music and a DJ, they want 800 dollars for DJ AND plus 800 dollars penalty for the live music you are bringing. If you are bringing sweet table and all yor flowers (same supplier) they will charge you 800 dollars for sweet table and 800 dollars for flowers. Their vendors prices are 3 times more expensive than external vendors charge. Oh and I forget, they will also include fees for extra hours per person per hour, plus, they will also charge you penalties for using the electricity. Therw are lots of options for other resorts, beautiful and with ONE penalty that ranges between 300 and 500 dollars once. NO 4 or 5 penalties. This is extremelly stressful for me giving the fact that i am 1 month for my big day They want to name service to everything just to charge you penalties. A service is wedding coordination that I have paid to a supplier to take care of my wedding, that is a service fir me. There should be ONE penalty. I understand that there is a penalty involved but 800 dollars per single thing you bring, it is a robbery. At this point I am affrais that they will charge 800 if you bring candles because is the "candle service" . Please let me know for any further info you need. They are NOT clear in the contract about their definition of "service" plus they write "service/supplier" and once your party is booked they will tell you that you have to pay 4 or 5 or 6 penalties, meaning 800x4 or 5. I am sooo sad and upset that they really want to get as much money as possible from Brides.

Hi, My name is Francine and I am getting married in my home island, Jamaica in June 2015. I live in NJ. I am so excited, but my fiance and I don't even know where to start. We are going to Jamaica in March 2014 for vacation to try to visit a couple resorts and reserve a date for the wedding. I read a lot of these posts and viewed a lot of beautiful pictures. We want a small wedding of 50 - 60 ppl. I like Sunset Beach resort because it seems to be affordable, but I also like Rosehall Beach Resort because their grounds are beautiful and spacious. It seems to be more private. Does anyone mind sharing how much they spent for their wedding? What were your big money items? Is it best to go with the resort for everything for the ceremony and reception? Or is it cheaper to get vendors outside the resort for things like decorations, flowers, DJ, photographer? Recommendations? I appreciate any feedback. When I go and come back I'll be sure to update on the forum. Thanks

Hey All! I am so excited to be able to "speak" to y'all to get some advise. Even though this will be our second wedding the first was here in Texas (mostly for my husbands famil) and a bit more formal (yet fun). Therefore, everything was somewhat easy to put together.....in 4 months! Now we are planning a renewal in (Trinidad and) Tobago for December 2016, that I'm trying to make more of our personalities: fun and adventurous. I am looking to 1) Send out boarding pass invites but I am getting stuck. I would like to do the pass/ invite; luggage tag/RSVP and the sleeve. envelopes and the luggage tags. Did anyone do these and had success with DIY? 2) What are some inexpensive care/welcome package ideas to cater to overseas guests? 3) Anything else I'm not thinking of? ???? The logistics of the ceremony and reception are being handled but I'm wanting to make the experience for guests that are there for a week or so, unforgettable! Jinnette

First of all look for the dress style that is most flattering for your figure. Once you've determined the silhouette you can focus on the wedding dress's details. Look for light-weight fabrics to keep you cool and comfortable. To be as comfortable as possible on the day of, you would want to wear lighter fabrics such as: chiffon, crepe, cotton eyelet, cotton organdy, organza, Georgette, charmeuse and voile. From strapless and sophisticated to short and flirty, your choice will depend on your body type and your taste but here are some styles you should consider: One Shoulder A long chiffon dress with a straight skirt and one shoulder strap is a great option and it will make you look gorgeous. Cocktail Length If you are not into a traditional wedding dress and would like to mix it up a bit, then a knee-length white cocktail dress can take you from your wedding ceremony to any other place in town later, for an after party. Another plus of having a shorter dress on the beach is that it makes it easy for brides to walk around the sand. Short Trains Getting married on the beach doesn’t mean you need to forget about having a train on your dress; but having a shorter train will allow you to not worry much about it if your dress gets in touch with wet sand and waves. Flowing Dresses A flowing dress works great for a beach wedding because it will have movement with the breeze and it’s a great option if you are looking for a most relaxed look. Spaghetti Strap A sundress with spaghetti straps and lace accents works well on the beach and it will allows you to show off you’re tan in wedding photos. Final tips: · Try to stay away from heavy beading that will add weight to the dress and pull it down a bit. · Consider avoiding a long train, which could accumulate sand. · Stay away from the cathedral-length wedding veil, which could be flying up if with a strong ocean breeze. http://bit.ly/PlanYourWedding

Hello Ladies, I'm a newbie here and I need some help. I am planning a wedding for October/November 2017 for around 80 people. Could be more could be less. First of all half of these guests are actually from Puerto Vallarta part of the decision to hold our wedding their in the first place. 2nd of all I have a relatively small budget considering I have so many guests. I'm thinking our budget anywhere from 8,000 to 9,000 dollars.(Also FYI I don't know anything about weddings and only what I've read on some other posts) Does anyone think this can be done or should I cut my losses and decide to do it elsewhere. I don't need luxury I just want a beautiful wedding like any other lady here. And if anyone thinks it can be done can anyone point me to Venue's or places to look into. I don't mind if it's off the beaten path and actually would prefer it. Any suggestions?, or am I out of luck?

How We Met While on a world-wind trip throughout Europe, my friend reached out to me saying that she had a great match for me when I got back to Ottawa. At the time I truly didn’t want anything to do with thinking about my time back home, or guys back home for that matter, so I shrugged it off……. Once I returned from Europe, the topic of having to meet Eric was brought up again by my friend, so I finally said “why not?”. Our friends ended up inviting Eric and myself for an afternoon of bowling. Eric was nothing like the guys that I had previously dated, so honestly wasn’t sure if he was truly my type. I thought to myself “my type hasn’t been working, so maybe I should pursue him!” My intuition was right. We ended up seeing each other every day for a week and a half straight. Shortly after we started officially dating! Our Travels Travel has always been a big part of my life. Throughout my childhood, I was lucky to experience many different destinations and trips with my family. Florida, California, Arizona, and even a cruise to the Caribbean. This must have planted the travel bug. I have always had a passion to explore, adventure, and see the world. Once I met Eric, I was surprised as to how little he had traveled. My goal was to change this, and explore the world together… Our first big trip was a 2 month trip, across Canada. We went all the way to the East coast of Canada, and then back through all of Canada to the West Coast, as far as Vancouver Island. On our way back, we drove through the top part of the United States, so that we could experience something a little bit different. This entire trip of 20,000km was done in our 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. We slept together in tents, at friends’ places, couchsurfing with strangers, and even in the trunk of the car with the backseat pulled down, in Walmart parking lots! Spending all of this time so close together truly was a relationship tester. We always joke that if we could get through those two months, we could get through anything! We have also traveled on a separate trip to Newfoundland with one of my Best Friends Ellyn, and her parents! That in itself was an adventure. This was Eric’s first time on a plane since he was a little kid. Thankfully Porter offers complimentary beer and wine, so his fear of flying was drowned with a few cans of Steamwhistle! We also started geocaching together on this trip. For those of you who don’t know, Geocaching is a worldwide treasure hunt, using a GPS application on your smartphone, to find hidden objects around the world! It’s a great way to discover a city that you’ve never explored, or to get to know hidden gems in a city. We have also gone on three separate trips down south to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Nothing better than a fun week filled with sun, sand, alcohol, and delicious eats! Our most recent trip was probably the most adventurous! We backpacked throughout the northern and central parts of Europe. We visited the Irish cliffs, saw Big Ben in London, said hello to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, watched the Mannekin Pis (and his sister Jeannekin Pis) in Brussels, ate tasty mussels in Brugges, went for a stroll in the countryside of Belgium in Kalken, experienced my birthday in the Red Light District of Amsterdam, went to a German Beerfest in Hannover, saw a Comedy Show at Tipi-Land in Berlin, went to a Swedish Hockey game in Malmo, visited the most amazing beach near Esbjerg (it’s 5km wide, and 16km long!), and cheered on the local ‘football’ team in Copenhagen. The most amazing part about this trip is it’s when we got engaged! Our Engagement While on our European Adventure in the fall of 2015, we decided to go geocaching in Berlin. We hunted for geocaches throughout this park in the middle of the city. We ended up in an area with ponds, and a lovely little stream, willow trees, and birds chirping. We ended up splitting ways, to find the geocache. Little did I know, Eric found the geocache first, while I was completely in the wrong area, taking pictures because it was so gorgeous! I followed the coordinates and wound up near this bridge, where Eric was hunting and told me he found it! He went under the bridge to retrieve the geocache, and passed it to me to open. I looked through, had him sign the log, and just as I was about to put it back, I noticed a white folded piece of paper. I opened it up to read it, and I honestly thought it was for someone else…. Until I saw my name at the bottom. With a small fence in between us (haha) there was Eric on one knee with a ring in hand. My initial reaction was that it was a joke, and it wasn’t real but reality eventually set in and I said yes! That evening, we ended up going to a lovely Thai restaurant for dinner, where we were the only ones in the restaurant! Following dinner we wound up at a local smoky bar, with a live jazz jam where people who had never even played together jammed the night away! Let’s just say it was a memorable day, and evening! The Wedding Planning Being an event planner myself, something I've strangely never wanted to plan was my own wedding. It's a job to me, and to be honest, I really didn't want to have to deal with all of the little details. My first little bit of wedding planning involved looking around the Ottawa area. I personally wanted a more outdoor venue, with a waterfront, as a beach wedding was always a dream, but my parents weren't too keen on a destination wedding at first. The other issue was looking for a venue that also had a hotel nearby, or on-site. This was quite tricky... We found one venue that worked, but the quote came back with a sky-rocketed price-tag. This lead me to start thinking about destination weddings again. The ease of being able to plan the wedding, with the guidance of a planner to take care of all the details for me, seemed quite attractive. I saw an ad for Luxe Destination Weddings, who proved to be quite helpful. I took a couple months of back and forth with the Travel Agent to figure out what resort would work best for us. We toyed with Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Jamaica, but since food was really important, we narrowed things down to Mexico, as they have the most refined food, since the USA is so close. The first quote that intrigued us was the Royalton Riviera Cancun, but the price was extremely high, so we wanted to see what other options were out there. Our second choice that seemed quite intriguing was the Grand Sunset Princess, but it just wasn't quite right.... We then saw the Azul Fives, which was gorgeous, but for the number of people we expect to attend, we couldn't use the Pier that was my dream wedding location. I reverted back to our travel agent and asked for a new quote for the Royalton Riviera, and the price had gone down significantly. We decided to book!!! From there, we decided on a departure date of May 6th, 2017 and a wedding date of May 9th, 2017. We will be getting married directly on the beach, followed by a dinner reception at the Nautica Beach Bar. We're expecting about 40 people, and are super excited. I had my first call with the destination Wedding Planner from Luxe Weddings, who started to go into the details of exactly what I want for the wedding. Wedding Colours Here's what I'm thinking for wedding colours. A midnight Charcoal Grey/Blue for the bridesmaids, with a deep coral and yellow/white accents, which will hopefully be incorporated into the bouquet too! I love starfish too, so hoping to incorporate those into the mix as well. That's basically where I'm at right now, but i'll definitely be updating as the date approaches! If you've had your wedding here, I'd be really excited to see some pictures for ideas. Especially the Nautica Beach bar, all done up. It's hard to find pictures!!

Hi Ladies, As I was doing some spring cleaning I found a good amount of items that would be useful to someone planning a beach wedding. Message me if you're interested! Please send me your zip code to estimate shipping. 1. 21 orange Lanyard for badge id's (long enough to go around your neck) $15 2. 50 clear plastic badge Id holders $10 3. 2 packs of ivory cardstock paper. We used them to make the program fans $15 4. Unused Chalkboard paint $7 5. 35 wooden paddle handles (curvy) $5 6. If you purchase all of the items above in one purchase, I will throw in some clear gift bags (approx 20) we used for our 'first aid kits'. Happy Shopping!
