Hi everyone! I have decided I should start a planning thread - I figure I should share my experiences as I go. A little bit about me .. I am from Toronto, Ontario. I got engaged in August 2014 and am planning to have a Mexico (on the caribbean side) wedding in January 2016. So far, planning has been quite a process and I haven't even booked a resort yet! Kenny (my fiance) and I knew we wanted a destination wedding from the beginning. We are avid travelers .. backpackers, living abroad, that sort of thing. Our families and wedding guests are from all over the world (literally!), which makes planning a destination wedding a bit of a hassle as far as booking through an agent. STARTING TO PLAN We started in November by setting out to Mexico to search for a perfect wedding venue. We went to see 5 resorts, and have narrowed down our list to 2.. The Dreams Tulum and the Azul Sensatori. We wanted to give our guests extra time to save for our wedding, so we didn't book a venue right away. We are finally ready to book now - and our TA gave us prices that are WAYYYY above our budget per guest. (budget = $1800 per guest). Our rates given this week were between $2100-$2400 per guest double occupancy from Toronto. After visiting these resorts ourselves - we deem it outrageous to charge that much per head. (Especially when I have seen bookit.com deals for about $1500 including flights for these resorts). So, because we are now at a loss.. We are reaching out to other resorts to see what their quotes are. Unless there is a great deal - we will just continue to wait it out... see if the prices go down. Although that is really risky for us, considering we are getting married the first week of January. Its a bit stressful, because I have my invitations all designed, and ready to go ... but without a date/time/place! ARRGGHH. In the mean time, I have started a list of things that i CAN do while I wait. (decor, dress, color schemes, etc). I really never realized how much planning goes into a wedding. I wanted someone to do it all for me ... we can only wish. THE DRESS: This was another process. Dress shopping was REALLY difficult for me. Im about a size 2, so I always swam in the dresses I tried on. Nothing but $14,000 designer gowns fit me. The cup sizes were all huge, the backs so high, the waists like a paper bag. I went to about 8 shops total. And went back and forth from style to style, fell in love with quite a few, but nothing was really PERFECT. I wondered what was wrong with me. Why a dress was speaking to me... why I wasn't crying. Why nothing was quite right. I was even asked to do Say Yes To The Dress Canada, and didn't find anything. So, one day I just decided. If you like it, buy it. So this search can be over and done with. I showed my maid of honor a pictures of the dress I have been looking at online, and as we walked by a small boutique we saw the EXACT dress in the store. I made an appointment for the next day, went in, tried it on, and gave my deposit. I splurged a little (about $3000 for my dress, not including alterations). BUT, I think it will be stunning when it comes in my size. The dress is Allure Couture c288. Its truly so beautiful! Havent quite decided if I am going to have a veil or not yet.. I may get a cathedral veil for pictures, and then just have a headpiece or flowers for the ceremony/reception. What do you think? DECOR/COLOR SCHEMES: I know even though I haven't picked a resort, we will get married on/near the beach. So I have started to plan out my color scheme, archway, chairs, that kind of stuff. The more I research, the more I realize I have expensive taste. I also realized I really like dark/deep colours, which doesnt exactly fit with a "beach" theme, but why does it have to be a beach theme? I have chosen coral for my bridesmaids dresses (the girls really wanted coral, I wanted burgundy, haha). BUT, instead of burgundy dresses, my decor colours are going to be burgundy, nude, gold. I have decided I want them to have bouquets of deep red calla lillies, about 25 in each bouquet. I think I will buy silk, or fake ones and bring them with me .. I found a website online $85 for 105 fake calla lillies - making about 4/5 bouquets. As far as my archway - I want it to be draped in chiffon. I don't know if resorts do that .. or maybe they do for $$$$$$$$, but I am thinking of just bringing my own with pictures to set it up. I am going to go with Tiffany Chairs and have white chiffon decorations on the back row of all the chairs in the ceremony. Only the back row so they it doesn't look too busy. I will use the same decorated chairs for my head table at my reception. FLOWERS: I know I want those calla lillies for my bridesmaids, for myself I will probably have a mix of white/burgundy/gold flowers. I think they are usually included in the wedding packages. I want quite a bit of flowers on my arch - two circle chunks of them on each side of the archway down halfway in the middle. I may outsource and get a florist off the resort, depending. The dreams, and other resorts charge upwards of $300 per bundle of flowers on each side.. CRAZY. They also charge $6 per tea lights.. ha, insane. I hope to bring SO much stuff with me. I will probably use my bridesmaids flowers as centerpieces for the reception, which will bring in the burgundy tones. RECEPTION: My overall vision is clean, white, burgundy, gold, crisp. Nothing too tacky like shells on tables, or nothing too bright. I want it very "glam" looking, not "beachy". Although, nothing against the beachy theme. I just want more of a warm winter feel. I envision a lot of lighting, a lot of white chiffon decoration, and a lot of flowers. Not much other than lighting and flowers. I think I will buy tons of tea lights, or small candles and bring them with me. I may/may not have chinese lanterns. Depending on the reception venue, they may look cheap. But I really like them! MUSIC: Probably going to hire a DJ. Probably going to have to rent a sound system for the ceremony for music.. Dreams charges like $275 just to use microphones for vows. GEEZ! I'll keep you posted on how much that stuff costs at other resorts. You would think it would be included for the ceremony at least? DINNER: Not really sure about any of the food options, etc yet. I know that most venues with over 40 guests have buffet style - which I think is horrible when you are charging me about $100 per person to eat. I would prefer a plated meal for that price, but we'll see depending on where we book. How have the dinner prices worked out for you guys? BUDGET: Our budget was originally $10,000 - not including rings, dress, or our trips. $10,000 just for the wedding at the resort. I don't necessarily want a cocktail hour, I would rather use that money for an extra hour in the reception. The dreams only includes 3 hours .. do other resorts include 4? That would be awesome. How much is it usually to have an extra hour? I don't know if $10,000 is doable. It is seeming at a place like the dreams, it will be tight. Ie: $250 set up fee if you bring your own decorations. $300 fee if I use an outside florist. $870 for the DJ for 3 hours. $4 per table napkin... LIKE HONESTLY! Crazy! I would love to hear about pricing for other resorts. Either that, or I will be bringing in ALL of my own stuff, haha - and still probably ending up paying more than $10,000. Previous brides - is $10,000 a realistic price? Let me know. It seems like until just before the wedding you really get the pricing, which seems crazy considering we are bringing thousands of dollars into the resort. Anyway, that is all the planning I have done so far. It gets kind of crazy, and I could literally spend hours doing research - its sooooo much work! I never knew. Maybe we should all elope, haha. Good luck planning. I welcome any feedback, advice, comments you guys have! I attached a few photos of some of my decor ideas.

Hi everyone! After months of lurking on here (and a few random posts) I'm officially ready to start my planning thread! We're at T MINUS 10 MONTHS! It looks like these things usually start with some background of us, so here it goes! The Build Up: Mr. and I met in college at a house party. We're both very sarcastic people and we essentially gave each other shit the entire night...making fun of each others' majors, etc. There was just something about the cute boy with the surfer hair, though, so I used what little info I had to facebook stalk him a couple days later. It was easier back then when it was limited to college students! We exchanged phone numbers and met up the next weekend. Unfortunately, the next weekend happened to be my 21st birthday, which means I made a complete drunken fool of myself! We count the dinner AFTER that as our official first date anniversary, haha! That was 9 wonderful years ago. We've been through so much--living across the country from each other, moving across the country together, graduate school, jobs, apartments, pets, SKYDIVING, etc.. I wouldn't change a thing. He is by far my favorite person, and we make each other better. The Proposal: There's no big story here, but it just wouldn't have been "him" if he had done something big and elaborate. I had actually found the ring box many months earlier and had been driving myself crazy about it! (and no, I didn't open it!) Every time we would go out to dinner, or go on a hike, or do anything remotely romantic, I expected that damn ring. Once, he even surprised me with a gift in a small box before I left on a work trip.....it was earrings! Such a sweet gesture, but I'm sure my jaw was just hanging. Anyway, we had family visiting us for Xmas/Mr.'s birthday, so I figured it would happen then. Nope. Then I thought maybe on New Year's Eve. Nope. On January 2nd, we had a group skype call with a bunch of friends, then settled in to eat dinner. As I'm carrying dirty dishes to the kitchen, he goes into the bedroom and grabs the box. He proposed kneeling on our kitchen floor. I SOBBED. I don't really remember what he said, but I just remember him being so sweet. He had to ask me a couple times because I forgot to say yes! The Ring: I mean, come on, it's gorgeous! (actual planning things in next post....)

31 days, my guests and I are exactly 1 month away from boarding a plane to celebrate our wedding week. In the lead up to the wedding/trip, I thought it would be fun to do a countdown on our wedding website of tips, tricks and advice surrounding travel to Mexico, specifically the Cancun and Riviera Maya area. We've never been to that side of Mexico so I thought I would reach out to my bride and bride-to-be friends on the forum. If you could help me come up with tips, tricks and advice for our trip, I would really appreciate it. This can be anything from tips at the airport (e.g. stay away from timeshares), must-see places (e.g. touristy areas, restaurants, beaches, etc) and if anyone has any tips for Moon Palace (our wedding resort) that would be fantastic. Thanks in advance

Hello, I am new to this site and hoping to get some help making a decision on which resort to book for my wedding in November 2016. I have spent countless hours going over the different options and feel like I am going crazy! My goal is to keep the trip as cost effective for my guests as possible while having a beautiful beach wedding with some good food and dancing.. I am a low maintenance, easy going bride, all I want is to do is pick a couple flowers and show up with a dress and my man As result I have narrowed it down to the following: 1. Riu Yucatan (I LOVE the beach!) 2. Grand Bahia Principe Tulum 3. Riu Playacar If anyone has any experiences with any of these hotels I would love to hear it! I read a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor and it's hard to tell which are unbiased and which are fake.. Thank you! Joanna

Today felt like a horrible nightmare that I keep hoping I'm going to wake up from. We've had our wedding booked for April 9th at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa for past last 4 months. We've been beyond excited.. created cool website with pics... printed invites & save the dates.. Just really fell in love with the property (sans seaweed issues :-) But found out today that the travel agent we've been working with didn't hold the rooms (and didn't inform us on how important and urgent it was to put them on hold) and now the entire hotel is full. No Vacancy. Sold out until the day after our wedding. I'm not typically a "drama mama" but today, I'm Totally Freaking Out! We need to find another 3.5 to 5star all-inclusive venue in PDC, with a similar price point, that's available on April 9th (or worse case senario, the 10th). And can also accommodate 40-60 rooms for our guests. Help! Fellow Brides & wedding angels... I need a Miracle✨????????✨ Milagro :-) Any suggestions or quick tips you can offer are warmly welcomed!

My husband and I are planning a trip for Jan 2016 as an anniversary/My 30th Bday/Recovery celebration and I need some help. We got married at Playacar Palace in Jan 2014 and honeymooned at Cozumel Palace and loved it at both places, they were nice, small, great food and service, and had very fun places to visit/explore around them. For this trip I'm open to some other options and was wondering what you guys would suggest? The issue; I'm having ankle surgery in Sept, so I will be 4 months into the 6 month recovery which is where I have hit the wall as far as planning. I had the other ankle operated on last year and know 100% that there's no way I could handle walking a mega resort at that point....So I need some advice on nice smaller resorts to look into. The places I've looked at/considered Akumal Wellness Resort and all of the Palace resorts except Moon. Requirements (in order of importance): - Caribbean/Mexico (east side) - Small size - All inclusive - Nice beach - Good food/service - Pool (not manditory) - Near a town/touristy area for shopping/cultural stuffs The goal is basically to go relax on the the beach, drink, eat, and not do too much else I can't really do many excursions sadly (it honestly makes me so sad because other then a cenote/ek balam tour (which I highly highly recommend), we didn't get to do much on the Riviera side during our wedding because we were busy), but if you have ideas on anything like boat tours or stuff that didn't require much walking, that would be greatly appreciated too So! Any experience at the places I've looked at? Or suggestions or recommendations for other resorts? Thanks!

Hi Everyone, I was compelled to write this post because I know how much trouble I had finding a make-up artist. Most artists domestically want you to pay for their travel and services, NO THANKS. As an African-American bride with dark skin who is about glam, I found this to be my largest issue. A friend of mine who was also married in Cancun recommended Norma Zurama from MAC Cancun. I googled and found her on Facebook and Instagram, but I couldn't tell whether she could do African-American brides. My gut told me trust her and my friend, so I hired her. I LOVE NORMA! She was GREAT at answering my emails promptly. She was reasonable with her pricing and negotiation. Paying for her services was a lot better than paying the ridiculous price that MVP and some of their other places like Styling Trio wanted, when I wasn't even sure that I'd like how they'd do my skin. I had 6 bridesmaid, plus my mom, all different shades of brown. Norma did an amazing job. We are sorority girls from DC and NY, so we were picky. However, she gave us exactly what we asked for. She was on time, she was sweet, and she didn't ask for anything extra or special. SHE KNEW HOW MUCH MAKE-UP TO PUT ON TO MAKE US POP AND FEEL GLAM, BUT NOT SWEAT TO DEATH. That is important. You want to be Beyonce, but you need to be a milder version for how hot it was. I got married on the pier, pictures on the beach, and ceremony inside of a ballroom… but it was still hot each place. Trust me, my African-American brides… Norma was AMAZING! Here are our pictures in the link below, but they don't do her work any justice. Hello all brides past and future! I live in the UK and am planning my wedding in early 2017, I'm also new to the site!! I'm currently trying to pick a date and resort. I'm trying to find something affordable for my guests to come to as a lot of the resort I've looked at are 5+ stars and an absolute fortune for my guests which I'm uncomfortable with. I've got guest coming from Canada, UK, US and Germany. Does anyone have any experience as to how group packages could potentially work for me as eveyrone is coming from the different place? With this in mind I'm currently mainly looking at Barcelo Tucancun and the Grand Bahia Pricipe. Has anyone recently had a wedding at either of them? Does anyone know what the seaweed situation is at right now as well (are they cleaning it up so it's not an issue?, is still really bad?) Barcelo Tucancun - has an absolutely beautiful beach so I thought it would be perfect for my beach wedding but I can't find any recent reviews on it which concerns me. Grand Bahia Principe - is a beautiful complete with 4 different resorts I think. Tulum, Coba and Luxury Sian Ka'an and Luxury Akumal. How does this complex work? Can your guests stay at any of them and still attend the Wedding? There seem to be conflicting reports on tripadvisor in regards to this. My biggest concern with this complex is all the seaweed pictures of the beaches on tripadvisor, that's the last thing I want on the background of my pictures. If anyone can connect with me in regards to their experience I'd really appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!! Kat

Hi all brides to be! I am very excited that I am going to have a destination wedding. I just love the beach at Cancun after the visit last summer. Ocean water is just unreal...it's the most beautiful beach I've seen so far. As you all know, planning is a long and tedious process and I am already being indecisive on the resorts. I have few resorts in mind and I would like to hear your opinions. Whether you heard, been or had a wedding at those resorts, please provide some insights! I would like to have the ceremony on a terrace, gazebo or lawn (just not on the beach) with estimated guests 25-30. I haven't been to any of these resorts only done research. 1. Iberostar Cancun I know this is a big resorts and has a lot of amenities. The room cost is reasonable. However, the hotel seems older? Also, I NEED WEDDING CONTACT for this hotel. I emailed them for the wedding detail and got no response. Brides, please provide if you have their contact! 2. Beach Palace This is the smallest and most expensive of the 4 resorts. Looks like a lot of people had/are going to have their weddings hold here. The sky terrace just looks amazing. 3. ME Cancun I actually couldn't find a lot of wedding information online for this resort. Is there a reason why people don't have their weddings here? Hotel looks modern and nice. I got wedding information from their sales agent and the wedding package looks reasonable. 4. Fiesta Americana Condesa This looks like a big resort too, very comparable to Iberostar. One thing concerns me is their food...they don't look like they have Asian restaurant onsite? Majority of my group, including me and my fiance are Asian, and it may be a problem if they don't serve Asian food at all . We are planning to do a site visit in June. I would like to narrow down to 2 or 3 and really take a look. Please help!! If you happen to have pictures/info please send to me at [email protected]. Thank you all!

I'm so excited to finally do a planning thread! I keep up with a bunch of them and have learned a ton from you ladies. I can't believe we've been engaged for six months already! Our Story We met in college through mutual friends. We were just friends for a while (I was actually constantly trying to get him to date friends of mine!) and finally started dating in December 2009. In our 5 years of dating we have done a ton of awesome stuff together, but my favorite so far has been getting into mud runs last year. We've done 3 so far (Warrior Dash, Savage Race, and Spartan Race) with plans to do more. His parents came up for Christmas. The day after Christmas he suggested showing them the park where we train (it has a practice obstacle course, rock climbing wall, & water tower). When we got to the top of the water tower, he proposed!!! He proposed with the ring that both his grandfather and father proposed with, which is super awesome Destination Wedding We went to a DW in the Dominican Republic and loved it, so we looked into it and it will potentially cost less for us and our guests including multiple days of events (our families and friends are spread out across the country so matter where we picked, at least half of our guests were going to have to travel). We put together a checklist and after about three weeks of back and forth, decided on Excellence Riviera Cancun. We're getting married the day after our 6 year anniversary. My FFIL is a reverend and will be the officiant for the wedding (he'll do a legal ceremony before we depart)! So far we have 19 people with reserved rooms, but are expecting closer to 30. Our deadline w/ our travel agent isn't until September.

Hi everyone!! Need some help. Ordered chair sashes thinking they were the right color but they were not!! So now I need help finding the right color. The color of my bridesmaids / wedding color is a little different and hard to find matching colors for. It's called sea glass.. And it's not turquoise, not Aqua, not mint green... It's in between a bluish green color but I think it's more blue... I will attach the color what it's like. If anyone has any suggestions of where to find chair sashes that might be a close match I would appreciate it!!! All the colors I see are pretty much those turquoise, aqua colors which are too bright. I really would like to find a close match but it doesn't have to be exact!the candle/ swatch is the color of the BM dress and the 2nd picture is a color I like but can't find!! Thanks!!!

Hello wonderful past and future DW brides! I was looking for more recent reviews of Styling Trio for makeup and hair. I've seen some threads from 2011 and so but I'm wondering if anyone have any insight recently? From reading previous reviews, it seems that their rates change quite often. Is anyone willing to say what they paid or were quoted? You can send me a message if you'd like. I have prices via email but I want to make sure it's consistent. Does anyone know if these rates are at all negotiable? Lastly, is it really worth it to have Adrian himself (for the highest cost) or does his team do just as well?

Welcome to my planning thread! My fiance and I are getting married on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Beach Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. I love reading everyone else's ideas, so thought I'd post my own in case anyone was interested! Our Engagement My fiance and I got engaged on a beautiful day in September 2014 at our favorite spot in our home city! Choosing the Wedding Location We decided it would be extremely expensive for my fiance and I to have a wedding in our home city. We attended a friend's Cancun destination wedding in June 2014, and fell in love with the idea of a destination wedding! There was a lot of debate as far as wedding location. Original location ideas included Costa Rica (nixed because of lack of direct flights), Jamaica (nixed because not as many direct flight options), and Cancun. Cancun ended up winning because: 1. There are PLENTY of direct flight options! and 2. There are SO many hotels you're able to choose from, and 3. Because of the plentiful number of hotels, prices tended to be cheaper. Choosing the Hotel This one was surprisingly easy for us. My friend that got married in June 2014 had her wedding at Azul Fives in Riviera Maya. Her e-ring ended up being stolen while she was down there, and she had other issues that contributed to her "not wanting to ever stay at an Azul/Karisma hotel ever again". Plus, we didn't want to do the same exact wedding as her! The other options we were looking into One thing we KNEW we wanted was to get married on a rooftop (THE VIEWS!!) versus a beach. While at aforementioned friend's wedding last summer, we saw how crazy the beach can get, and knew we wanted something more private. This led us to looking at hotels with rooftop terraces - and our initial choice was Sandos Cancun. However, we started talking to my friend about her wedding, and she recommended either Moon Palace or Beach Palace - saying those were her backup options after Azul. Once we looked at Beach Palace's reviews and pictures on TripAdvisor, we were hooked! Moon Palace was second place, but Beach Palace seemed nicer. We immediately contacted the Beach Palace Wedding representatives from the website, and were assigned a wedding coordinator who helped us reserve a date and the locations for our ceremony and reception. We also worked with our coordinator to set up a Group Room block, so that we could get standard room rates and certain group benefits. Save the Dates Once we coordinated the Group Room block, we worked on our save-the-dates at the end of December 2014. We ended up doing our save-the-dates using one of the Walgreens cardstock templates online in order to save some cash! Along with the save-the-dates, we also sent all of our guests an email with additional details regarding location, booking, etc. The email contained both a link to our group room block, and also a link to our theknot.com wedding website. Invitations Invitations are the WORST. Don't get me wrong, they're VERY cute. But they're also extremely expensive and time-consuming. We ended up inviting about 75 couples (150 people), and the invitations we ordered off Etsy were freaking ADORABLE, but almost $1,000! That's not even including the postage stamps you need in order to mail them! These were mailed at the end of February 2015 if my memory serves me right. RSVP's As our RSVP's came in, we started to get a pretty good idea of who was coming and who wasn't. We asked that our guests RSVP by April 1st (as our room block needed to be closed by April 28th in order to avoid penalties). We wanted to leave a buffer of a few weeks since generally some people are late with RSVP's - and boy are we glad we did! We had to follow up with a few people closer to the deadline in order to make sure they booked through our block by the deadline. Some people booked outside of our block, which cost us dearly in missing out on certain benefits - but overall I'm more happy that they're able to come! The Dress and the Suit! I ordered my wedding dress in mid-November 2014. I believe it came in from the manufacturer sometime in March. I had my first fitting April 28, 2015 to try it on in my size for the first time and see what needed to be done as far as taking it in and hemming. Second fitting was on May 17th, and at this fitting the dress had been taken in and hemmed. During this second fitting we discussed taking it in more and how I wanted a 3 point bustle. The third fitting was May 26th. At this fitting we discussed taking it in even more, and how a 5 point bustle is more appropriate. More to come on the dress - I just suggest getting it earlier rather than later in the process! I also bought veil weights from Etsy since I'm worried about the wind blowing my veil too much in all the pictures! Accessories are TOM's ivory lace wedges, Marlosha (Etsy) pink and gold teardrop earrings, and a Nadri gold and silver teardrop bracelet. My fiance is wearing a light brown linen suit he purchased at Suit Up! (just kidding, it's called Suit Supply). Brown shoes, a brown belt, and a white shirt will accompany. Bridesmaids are wearing a Laundry Hibiscus (i.e. pink/purple) tulip maxi dress, with either white or nude shoes. I bought them Kate Spade multi-colored cluster earrings in pink/purple. Gold chain bracelets with amethyst will accompany. Groomsmen are wearing Brooks Brothers white linen short-sleeved dress shirts (un-tucked), and stone colored pants. Brown belt and shoes will accompany. Planning the Wedding As the wedding planning is still in process, I will just share my vision for the event and things I've purchased/organized along the way! Welcome to Beach Palace My lovely mother is going to organize welcome bags for each room. The welcome bags will include sunscreen, ibuprofen, a flip flop bottle opener, a "Get to Know the Guests" sheet, and an itinerary of the wedding events. I'm still toying with the idea of purchasing waterproof key card/ID holders. I think they'd be nice for people to not have to worry about getting their tip money wet at the pool bar! I've heard the Beach Palace wedding coordinator ("WC") will deliver the bags to each guest room for $3/bag. Not sure if we will do this, or just try to catch up with our guests each day they arrive. Night Out We would LOVE to do a night out on the town of Cancun with our guests on Friday, June 26th - two nights before the wedding! Rehearsal Dinner We will have 34 adults and 2 kids, and have booked the rehearsal dinner for 6 to 8pm on Saturday, June 27th - the night before the wedding. This will be on the Infinity Terrace and we will be having the Italian Buffet dinner option. The buffet is $55/person since we didn't have any resort promotion for the dinner. We are not using any sound system or additional lighting for this event. Morning of the Wedding My mother and I are getting our hair (only) done at the Beach Palace Salon at 10:30am. I've heard bridal hair takes almost 3 hours at the BP salon, so I wanted to get mine done early! I don't really wear makeup so I'm doing my own. Afterwards, my girl friends are going to do their own hair and makeup in my room while drinking mimosas (yum). Photographer We're using Dream Arts photography - the Beach Palace recommended vendor. We are doing 3 hours from 4 to 7pm, with a 15 minute mini-movie. We're doing our own "getting ready" and reception dancing photos. Ceremony The ceremony will be on the Sky Terrace at 4pm. Purchased the Metallic Sands ceremony package for decorations! Hoping to have regular chairs rather then the "pods". We are doing ring exchange and vow exchange in a symbolic ceremony. We are getting legally married upon our return back to the U.S. We are putting our ceremony programs in a basket (maybe from Crate & Barrel?) on a table as you walk in, and gluing the programs to a stick to turn them into fans since it will be quite warm out! After much debate on whether we use the BP officiant, or one of our guests, we decided on the BP officiant after hearing good things. One thing we want to make sure to do is have someone take a group picture of us and all our guests near the altar on the Sky Terrace! Cocktail Hour The cocktail hour is on the Sky Bar South from 5pm to 6pm. During this time, the wedding party will be doing photos on both the Sky Terrace and also at the beach. We ordered the Mexican appetizers for the rest of the guests enjoying the cocktail hour. Reception Ufffffff...so much info to list here! To start off, it's on the Palenque Terrace starting at 6pm! Entrance - we will have a basket of flip flops on a table for guests to take as dancing shoes. I ordered Navy Blue assorted size flip flops for the men and Lavender assorted size flip flops for the women from Dollar Tree. The basket will be the $29 fold-able bamboo basket from Crate & Barrel for luggage packing ease. On the table, there will also be everyone's table number assignments. We purchased Wilton ivory fold-able place cards. My fiance is going to tape washer to the inside of the cards to weight them down and combat the wind. Tables - 6 tables, with 6 people each. Using the Metallic Sands decoration package so we don't have to worry about much! We're printing the table numbers ourselves, and ordered some natural sea-shell table card holders from Etsy to display. Favors - At each table setting, there will be Mexican loteria matchboxes that we ordered on Etsy. Our favors also kind of include the flip flops and the glow sticks mentioned below. Lighting - We ordered necklace glow sticks from Amazon. The best man will be handing these out to guests as it gets dark. We also ordered Zuniga 4 column lighting with 2 string lights (via Beach Palace). Music - We ordered 2 speakers from JSAV (the Basic Package) and will be playing our iPod during the reception. Food/Drinks - Went with the BBQ buffet as it seems to be something that would appeal to everyone. We ordered a chocolate chantilly frosted cake. Possibly ordering additional champagne.

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie planning our fusion Catholic/Hindu wedding at Moon Palace in Cancun in July 2015! My family is Mexican and my fiance's family are of Indian descent, so this will definitely be one big fat Mexican/Indian wedding celebration! After reading everyone's reviews here, we narrowed it down to Moon Palace because of all the great perks and pricing. I am a little concerned about the beach since I've seen a few posts where others have said their beach is not as pretty as the beach on the main strip. Most photos I've seen seem to show a lot of seaweed on the beach. I'll be traveling there in a few weeks for my onsite inspection and to meet our wedding planner. Any suggestions about what I should really focus on and/or questions I should ask? I have a lot of questions already prepared that are specific to our ceremonies and decor, but I'd appreciate anything I may be forgetting Thanks!

We haven looking at resorts for weeks! We started working with a travel agent and altough much easier, still quite the task to make a selection. We liked the Riu Palace Mexico, but they are being very inflexible about our arrival date. So, we are now looking at Dreams Tulum. We are concerned about the reviews from Trip Advisor about them pestering for additional purchases and the price for wine which is an additional cost. Has anyone have a recent experience? Do you have a comment from a guest or the wedding couple point of view? Anything will help! Thanks, Ana

DISCLAIMER: This is way too long and overly detailed, so Godspeed if you plan on reading it all! It started out as my wedding review of the Now Jade, but turned into me unpacking and reliving the best day of my life. We stayed at the Now Jade Riviera Maya from Sunday, June 14 - Sunday, June 21 with 55 guests (57 including us). Our wedding was on Wednesday, June 17 on the pergola. We had our cocktail hour at the mix bar, and our reception at Castaways. My husband and I then went to the Hard Rock Rivera Maya for four days, until Thursday, June 25. Pictures by Photos in Cancun: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155723382210293.1073741847.508850292&type=1&l=d36589a522 (Keep in mind that none of these have been edited yet) Trash the Dress: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155723733905293.1073741848.508850292&type=1&l=0de529af7e Slide Show (a nice highlight of all the best parts of the day): https://animoto.com/play/VKP4n1xcGe3c4E1RCq11lA?autostart=1 Sunday, June 14: Check In: When we arrived Sunday, the Riviera Maya was at the tail end of a big tropical storm from the week before and it was raining, so the lobby was pretty crowded when we got there. We had a total of 55 guests (plus the two of us) and almost everyone came on the same flight and took a big bus to the resort, which made it even more crowded. It made me feel a little stressy, so I was VERY thankful when they whisked us, my parents, and one other couple from our group to the preferred lounge to check in, which was a breeze. I can’t speak for how check in went for everyone else, but I didn’t hear any complaints. We were a little early and all had to wait a little while for our rooms, but everyone walked around and got a bite to eat, so it was no big deal. Cocktail Hour: I requested to have an area blocked off for our cocktail hour in the evening but that didn’t end up happening, which really didn’t matter since it had stopped raining by then, and everyone just congregated in one area. We had servers bringing us drinks all evening, which was nice, and some people bellied up to the bar. I handed out our welcome bags and everyone was so surprised! (As destination wedding brides, I think we all think that people expect to have a welcome bag, but they really don’t and think it’s so awesome when they get them!) I included tumblers, aloe, SPF chapstick, playing cards, a key card holder, bubble bath, emergency kits (made for me by the wonderful Stacey, who I met on this site!), and the itinerary for the week. I don’t know how many people used most of the stuff, but the tumblers and the key card holders were a big hit, based on how many people I saw with them around the resort. A lot of people aren’t sure if they should get wrist coils or lanyards, and based on how I saw everyone using them, I would recommend wrist coils. Monday, June 15: Wedding Coordinator Meeting: I got an email from Pilar several weeks before saying that my wedding coordinator would be Carla, but it turned out that Pilar herself was our actual wedding coordinator. I’m not sure if they just switched things around for scheduling purposes, or if someone asked Pilar to take care of us personally. (Long story short, my dad produces a local entertainment TV show in Cleveland, and they often take viewer trips to different destinations where people get to go on vacation with the hosts and they do an hour long episode all about the resort. They did one at the Now Jade a year or two ago, so they always try to schmooze us a little when we’re there, so ANYWAY, I think that could be why we ended up with Pilar). We brought all our decorations with us and showed her what we had for each part of the wedding, went over the bridal party order and who would be walking with who, reviewed the script a little, talked about chair bows and the table setup, yadda yadda yadda. It was very easy and made me feel a lot better, since I was worried that I was underprepared - she asked questions, I answered them, and everything was settled. Piece of cake. Tuesday, June 16: Rehearsal: As I mentioned, there had been a huge tropical storm the week before our wedding. Other than when we arrived on Sunday, the weather was gorgeous for us the entire trip - not a drop of rain! There was, however, a TON of seaweed on the beach from the storm. I’ve been to the Now Jade several times and the beach has always been lovely, but it was literally covered in 6 inches of seawood all the way down the coast. They had begun to clean it that day, but I was still a little nervous since we were supposed to have our ceremony on the beach. We had our rehearsal there anyway, with our whole bridal party, ring bearers and flower girls, and parents. She walked everyone through how to walk and where to stand and all that jazz. Being there made me a little nervous about the location, though - beside the seaweed, the beach location was RIGHT in front of the adults only pool. I was worried there would be some drunk idiot watching our wedding from the bar screaming stuff at us or something. Definitely not a lot of privacy. Later, my parents went to see Pilar to pay the bill for the wedding (God bless ‘em), and they told me she asked if I wanted to move our ceremony somewhere else. Ours was at 5, and she said that even though there was a wedding at 4 at the pergola, we could stil have ours there, as long as we didn’t mind if it possibly started at 5:15-ish. Me and my FI talked about it and decided that was the best choice. We were a little sad we wouldn’t have our toes in the sand, but I felt a huge weight off my shoulders as soon as we officially made the switch, since I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about the seaweed or the spectators. And even though we had already had our rehearsal on the beach, everything went perfectly smoothly at the new location. Rehearsal dinner: I had planned to just have everyone meet in the buffet for an informal rehearsal dinner at 8 pm, but at our planning meeting, Pilar asked me if I wanted to move it up to 7 pm and have it in the ballroom off the lobby, where they were having a Mexican buffet. I said sure, and we passed the info along to everyone. It turned out to be amazing! There were all these lovely round tables set up with linens and centerpieces, an amazing and huge buffet, and the BEST mariachi band I’d ever heard serenading each table! Even though she reserved us six tables right up front, there was hardly anyone else in the room. I think people thought that I had planned that special for our rehearsal, and I didn’t correct them! It turned out to be such a blast. I know they do that every week (not sure if it’s always on a Tuesday like it was for us), but I’d recommend finding out when that is and having your whole group go - it’s great! Wednesday, June 17 (The Big Day!) I woke up feeling surprisingly relaxed and calm, and all by myself - my FI had slept in a different room, of course! One of my bridesmaids brought me coffee and we sat on the balcony for a while, and then all the bridesmaids and our moms (most of whom were there, my mom is best friends with all my best friend’s moms!) went to breakfast at the French restaurant on the terrace. It was relaxing and lovely. We had on our cute little matching tank tops, and my friend made us all “butt veils,” which were hilarious. At one point I saw my FI from behind, but he was far away and didn’t see me. That was the only almost run-in all day! After that, my friend’s mom did yoga in the pool with some of the girls while me and my sisters-in-law watched from our terrace, which was right over the adults pool. Hair and Makeup: Okay, this is the only part of my entire experience that I can’t rave about. They brought me into the ‘bridal suite’ (which was just a little room) with my sister-in-law, while my other friend got her hair done in the outer room. The two stylists were talking to each other incessantly, to the point where I could barely get a word in edgewise to either her or my sis-in-law. It wasn’t an overly pleasant experience. Three out of my five my bridesmaids got their hair done, by two different stylists between the three of them, and they all looked GORGEOUS. Their hair was absolutely fabulous. I had a different stylist than either of them, and my hair was just okay. I didn’t feel like it looked very similar to the picture I showed her. Looking back at pictures, though, it photographed well, and accomplished my main goal, which was to have it securely up and away from my face so it wouldn’t be blowing around in the wind, so I can’t complain too much. I would HIGHLY recommend that all brides getting married outside near the beach have their hair up. I literally couldn’t imagine 1) how hot it would have been and 2) how much time I would have spent pushing it back off my face from the wind if I had worn it down. All my bridesmaids said the same thing. While long loose hair is pretty, it’s just not practical in the sea breeze! Then there was my makeup - the same stylist who did my hair took me over to get my makeup done. It was just kind of a table in the middle of the room with random makeup bags and cases all over the place. It didn’t look very professional. I showed her a picture of Kim Kardashian’s wedding makeup and told her that’s what I wanted, and showed her all the professional makeup I brought from home (if you’re getting your makeup done there, I’d highly recommend bringing your own). She looked a little overwhelmed, and I was nervous to say the least because, not to be mean, but her own makeup didn’t look so hot - her own heavy black eyeliner around her whole eye in extremely jagged lines was stressing me out a bit. She went to work, and again, the whole time was conversing with the other stylist, who was just hovering around, but this time it was clear that the other stylist was instructing my stylist what to do every step of the way. I could hear them talking about colors a lot and she kept gesturing and pointing to show her what to do, and telling her what colors to use. Honestly, it seemed like she had never done anyone’s makeup before in her life, and the other girl seemed to know what she was talking about. I almost stopped and asked if she could do my makeup instead at several points because I was starting to get very nervous! She actually did take over at the end to put on my false eyelashes, and then seemed to correct and fix a few things when she was done. The end result was...not good. They only used some of my makeup, and what they used of their own was very coppery and brassy, not at all what I wanted. I went back up to my room, where all my bridesmaids were waiting, and was like “Guys, this looks awful, we need to fix this.” In true bridesmaids fashion they all started gushing about how beautiful I looked, but I told them this wasn’t the day to lie to make me feel better! Then I got “Welllllll…...maybe we need to take off some of this brown eyeliner….” and then we went to work. Basically I just went over their makeup with my own, and it turned out fine. All in all, that was the biggest “crisis” of the day, and it wasn’t a big deal, so I can’t complain! To summarize, I think most of the stylists do a great job with hair at the Now Jade. Makeup...I can’t really be sure. If anyone can think of a polite way to request NOT to have someone, I would try to avoid Gina for hair and makeup. Flowers: I LOVED my bouquet and my bridesmaids’ bouquets. I know nothing about flowers and wasn’t really picky about the type, so I just sent Pilar a picture of the colors I wanted, and they turned out perfectly! The Ceremony: The ceremony started around 5:15 instead of 5, as Pilar said it might. The setup was so incredibly lovely. I loved the rose petals in our colors along the aisle! The only decorations were our chair bows (which I just rented from there - I know they’re too expensive, but I just didn’t feel like dragging them down with me), the aisle flower petals, the flowers on the table at the front, and a seashell garland I brought from home. They also added some lanterns along the aisle that I didn’t rent, so that was either from the ceremony that happened right before ours, or maybe they just always use them to hold the aisle runner down. I was worried about not having enough ceremony decorations before we left, but I loved the simplicity of it, and with the gorgeous pergola and the ocean in the background, there’s really no need for a bunch of other decorations to make it look wonderful. Both of my parents ended up walking me down the aisle (although the aisle was actually very small, not even really big enough for two people, so I kind of had to walk ahead). I was planning on having just my dad walk me down the traditional way (we’re extremely close and I’m a total daddy’s girl), but my mom told me just a few minutes before we were to head to the lobby, he asked her if she’d walk with us since they raised me together and did such a good job...and then started crying and had to walk away! I think he was just too emotional to do it all by himself! My mom wanted to make sure I was okay with it and said she wouldn’t mind at all if I wanted it to just be my dad, but of course I didn’t mind, and I’m really glad we did it that way and that they gave me away together. We had the violinist as our musician. I honestly never even laid eyes on her, but she sounded lovely! Our officiant was adorable, although honestly, I’m pretty sure he had never read our script before right then. We realized we had made the first part waaaaay too long - he read it extremely slowly, and with his thick accent, some of it was hard to understand, but even though it dragged on a little long at first, I really didn’t mind. It gave me some time to calm my nerves, gaze at my almost-husband (who was GLOWING, so cute!), and look out at all our friends and family. Plus, it’s just a quirky little part of getting married in Mexico. We read our vows from small Moleskine notebooks in our colors (pink for me, orange for him) which was a semi last minute decision for me, but I think it ended up looking nice. We each wrote our own vows, and while I thought mine were okay, my husband’s completely blew everyone away. There was truly not a dry eye in the house, especially my own. He told me later that he had only finished them the night before...typical! Cocktail Hour: Right after the ceremony we went down to the beach bar and everyone got their glass of champagne as they walked down the stairs (they even had shirley temples ready for the kids). I got to hug everyone as they walked by, which was really nice. I saw the food off to the side and the signature drinks floating around, but after that we went off to the garden area to take pictures. The beach was still overly seaweedy for the pictures to look pretty so all of our family and bridal party shots were in the grass, but that’s okay. Photography - Photos in Cancun: This is the part that I couldn’t wait to tell everyone about. I hired Photos in Cancun for our photographers. They’re a husband and wife team who live in Cancun - Lorena is from Mexico, and Dereck is from Canada. I picked them because a) they were by far the most reasonably priced I had seen during my research they had wonderful reviews about how fun and easy they are to work with and c) they give you EVERY SINGLE PICTURE on a USB right at the end of the night! How can you pass that up? They came up to the room around 3:30 as we were getting ready. Immediately I noticed that there were three photographers instead of just two. Dereck introduced himself, and informed me that he had accidentally been punched in the eye by his poodle (true story!), and showed me his eye, which was very red. He said they had brought along a third photographer who they work with all the time, just in case he had to give his eye a break, to make sure they wouldn’t miss anything, at no charge at all to me. I was impressed right off that bat! Despite his eye injury, he was taking pictures every time I looked at him, so I basically just got a third bonus photographer! They were taking pictures constantly in our room, and we have a ton of adorable candids. Throughout the entire ceremony, they were so discreet that I didn’t even notice them, but they captured so many amazing pictures. They even took a picture of virtually every person in the audience, which I thought was a really nice touch. Taking pictures with everyone during cocktail hour took a really long time since we had such a big group, and my mom was pretty insistent on getting a ton of family pictures since there were so many of us there. It turned out we only had 10 minutes left for bride and groom pictures, which kind of bummed me out, but I thought we still got some nice ones so I tried not to worry about it too much. I had a 7 hour photography package, so they were scheduled to stay for some of the reception but not all of it. I was rushing at one point to find my husband to take some pictures of him taking off my garter (which we did off to the side) before they left, and Dereck stopped me and said “Don’t worry, we’re in no hurry to leave, take your time.” I’m not sure exactly what time they left or how long they were there, but I’d say it was definitely longer than 7 hours! Again, I barely noticed them the whole time they were there, but they captured EVERY moment. The candid reception pictures are some of my favorites. As they were leaving, Dereck told me that they felt bad that we didn’t get to take many couples pictures (even though it wasn’t their fault at all), and asked if they could pick us up later in the week to take more pictures! WHAT?! I couldn’t believe it. We communicated a little over the next week, and they ended up driving all the way out to our honeymoon resort, the Hard Rock Riviera Maya, the following Monday. They live in Cancun, which is about 30 minutes from the Now Jade, and the Hard Rock is about 40 minutes even further than that, so they drove at least an hour to come get us. Then they drove us all the way back to a beach in Puerto Morelos (30-40 minutes) to take pictures there, then drove us into Playa del Carmen to that beach, and took some pictures in the shopping area in Playa. They got some amazing and beautiful shots, and worked SO hard - it is very clear how passionate they are about what they do. You can see 1000 (out of the 2500 pictures they took!) here. Keep in mind that these haven't been edited yet (and they don't even need it, they look amazing!) We get to pick 180 pictures for them to edit. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155723382210293.1073741847.508850292&type=1&l=d36589a522 (Keep in mind that none of these have been edited yet) Here's a slideshow they made for me too that highlights the best parts of the day, if you don't feel like slogging through 1000 pictures!: https://animoto.com/play/VKP4n1xcGe3c4E1RCq11lA?autostart=1 They took pictures of us for over 3 hours, and then bought US a beer after! Are you kidding??! They worked for free for us for hours, and then bought US a drink! I still can’t get over it. As we were walking back to the car, they were just expressing how much they love what they do, and how the most important thing for them is making sure that their client’s have the best experience possible, and that it’s not just about a set number of hours or buying a set number of prints. Dereck also explained why they give you ALL you photos at the end of the night - “There might be a picture of you and Uncle Bob that’s a little out of focus so I delete it, but maybe you haven’t seen him in 10 years and that would be an invaluable memory for you. Why should we decide what pictures are worth keeping?” Their attitude towards their work is truly inspiring. At the end of the night when they drove us back to our hotel, my husband tried to give them an envelope that had an $100 tip that I had brought with me (although honestly at that point after all they had done, I was embarrassed that I hadn’t included more), but they even tried to refuse that! They just kept saying that it was their pleasure and how much they enjoyed spending time with us. But we insisted, and they gave us huge hugs goodbye, and told us to call them next time we were in Mexico to have dinner with them. I could go on and on for days about how amazing Dereck and Lorena were. They were one of the very best parts not just about our wedding day, but our entire vacation. If you have yet to hire a photographer, stop looking right now and hire them. I promise you won’t be disappointed. The Reception at Castaways: If any of you have seen some of my posts during the last year of planning, you might remember that I was constantly worried that I wasn’t going to have enough decorations. I was an extremely low-maintenance bride (or maybe just lazy). I am not a DIY person AT ALL, and just don’t have an eye for those Pinterest-perfect itty bitty details. Being on BDW and seeing all the adorable decoration projects everyone was doing always kind of stressed me out and I always felt that I should be doing more, but it just wasn’t my thing. Here’s what I brought with me: -Pink and orange chinese lanterns -Seashell placecard holders and place cards -Menus -Water beads and underwater LED lights (we rented vases and used the bridesmaids bouquets as our centerpieces) -Seashell garland (from the ceremony but they moved it to the reception) -Best Day Ever cake topper -Card box -Table numbers -Guest book -Mr. and Mrs. glitter block letters We rented orange table runners from the resort, and they also included the lanterns from the ceremony, which I didn’t pay for. Even though I didn’t bring a ton of stuff, everything was perfect and beautiful. The setup was totally perfect. In retrospect, I’m so GLAD I didn’t waste a ton of time and money on elaborate decorations. I barely even noticed half the stuff I did bring! I feel like a ton of decorations might be necessary to spruce up a big plain reception hall at an at-home wedding, but the open-air restaurant was so beautiful and awesome on it’s own with the ocean in the background that all the natural beauty was plenty of decoration in and of itself. So that’s another big piece of my advice for future brides - don’t stress out about the little stuff. Everyone is having too much fun to notice, and it will look beautiful no matter what! Our bridal party danced into the reception and it was awesome. My husband and I entered to cold fireworks, courtesy of Disco Movil, and were dancing, fist pumping, and twirling around. Everyone went nuts. It was epic! Our first dance immediately followed, which I wasn’t expecting, but I ended up liking it that way. Our bridal party all stood off to the side which I really liked, too. Then came the father daughter/mother son dances. The mother-son dance was hilarious - they danced to “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” and were just being goofy with it, and by the end they were all just conducting the whole room as we sang along. It was so precious. Then came dinner, which was delicious, and served SUPER fast - I was very impressed by all our waiters. We had salad, lobster bisque, and guests could choose between beef and salmon, and chocolate souffle as the dessert. I would recommend any of it. They got all the kids’ meals right, and even met my request to give my sister-in-law just a plain chicken breast with a side (she has Celiacs and is gluten free), and she said even that was delicious. After that we did speeches. My husband cousin and best man went first and gave a very warm and heartfelt speech. But THEN, my two best friends went up front to give their speech and made me come up with him. They grabbed the mic from the DJ and handed him and iPod and pulled out their scripts. They started with a speech full of funny and embarrassing stories (we’ve been friends since first grade, so there are a lot of them), and then the music to Copacabana started to play….they had written an ENTIRE song about us that they sang and danced to! The chorus went “At the Now Jade Riviera Maya, the hottest spot on the playa…” everyone was dying laughing. Then “Hot Hot Hot” started playing, which we had a dance routine to from cheerleading in 8th grade (!), that somehow I managed to remember most of, and we all danced together to it in front of everyone. It was incredible. I have the best friends ever! The rest of the night we just partied the night away. We extended our reception by an hour, and even though it’s expensive (especialy for 57 people), I’m SO glad we did - three hours would have been way too short, and we were having way too much fun to leave at 10 pm! Most people were on the dance floor the WHOLE time just having a great time while the drinks flowed (and flowed and flowed) from the bar. I was having too much fun to even bother holding a drink - I had a glass of wine at dinner, and a lass of champagne for the toast, and that was it! I think I was definitely the most sober one in the room, and I’m so glad I did it that way. I can get tipsy any night, but I only get married once, so I’m glad I can remember every moment! I LOVED having our reception at Castaways. The only ‘bad’ thing I can say is that it was very, very hot - but even so, everyone loved feeling like they were outside, even with the heat, and it just gave it such a fun, tropical atmosphere. I peeked at a reception at the bamboo room the next day, and while it was nice, I liked the vibe of ours so much better (plus it wouldn’t have been nearly big enough for the size of our group). So, if you’re worried about heat, don’t do Castaways, but if you don’t mind the heat and want to be outside, I’d definitely recommend it! Our wedding day was truly one for the books. Obviously I hoped an expected that it would be fun and special, but it exceeded my expectations a million times over. Everyone had SO much fun that we still can’t stop talking about it. Everyone said it was by far the best wedding they had ever been to, and all my friends had made up their minds by the end of the night to have a destination wedding. Everything went perfect and I wouldn’t change one single moment. Trash the Dress: We used the hour of photography that came with the Divine package for a trash the dress session on Friday. I brought another dress (clearance at David’s Bridal) with me for that. Our photographer, Alejandro, was wonderful, and the pictures turned out great. An hour DEFINITELY wouldn’t have been enough for the day of, and the pictures weren’t quite as high quality as Photos in Cancun, so I’m glad I hired outside for our actual wedding pictures, but the hour of photography is great for a trash the dress! (Pictures: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155723733905293.1073741848.508850292&type=1&l=0de529af7e ) The Weather: My next big piece of advice - do not even bother checking the weather the week before you leave. The week before they had the big tropical storm, and EVERY DAY had a 90% chance of rain. I was totally freaking out. Turns out, we didn’t see a single drop of rain the whole time we were there, other than our arrival day, which no one really cared about anyway since we were busy getting settled. The weather on our wedding day could not have been more perfect. In a tropical location like that, the weather can change so quickly that the forecast is pretty much pointless, so don’t stress about your weather! The Vacation: Our whole group had an absolute BLAST at the Now Jade and are already talking about going back next year. Even though we came with a huge group of people from different parts of our lives who didn’t know each other, everyone was great friends by the end! It was hilarious to walk by and see see my husband’s great aunt having dinner with my best friend’s mom. Everyone sort of hung out at the same spot at the pool, started up our own pool volleyball games, rubbed sunscreen on each other’s backs - it was so heartwarming to have so many people we love so much all in the same place having so much fun. Even besides the wedding part, the vacation itself will always be one of my most precious memories. I know there are some bad reviews on Trip Advisor, and I have NO clue what any of them are talking about - I love that resort! It especially blows my mind when I read people saying bad things about the food - I think that’s the best part! All the restaurants are amazing, ESPECIALLY the Italian. I think the resort is the perfect size, too - not too big, not too small. It’s also great for kids - the four we had with us LOVED the kids club and all the activities, and went jumping on the big trampoline thing every day. The drinks are great, food is great, entertainment is great, service is great, rooms are great, pools are great, everything is great! When I read the bad reviews, I think people are just expecting something different….are there nicer hotels in the Riviera Maya? Yes...but they also cost 3x as much as the Now Jade! If you and your guests want a total luxury experience and money is no object for anyone, sure, you could go somewhere a little more upscale, but I think the Now Jade is a great price and a great value for a large group. When we first started planning, we expected to only have 30 guests, but when everyone saw how reasonable the price was, which included airfair, our number literally doubled! All in all, don’t pay attention to the bad reviews - the resort is great. The Honeymoon: After seeing everyone off to the airport the following Sunday (which was so sad - I just wanted everyone to stay with us!), we headed off to the Hard Rock Rivera Maya. I don’t think that resort would be for everyone, but we absolutely loved it. There’s music playing constantly, live bands by the pool, and fun entertainment all the time. It’s definitely more of a party resort, so if that’s your thing (and it’s definitely ours) it’s great, but if you want something more quiet and relaxing, this place probably won’t be your first pick. The great thing about the resort is that you get a ton of resort credit, based on how long you stay, that you can use for a bunch of stuff, including the spa and excursions. You still have to pay 20%, so it’s almost like an 80% off coupon, but it’s still a great deal. We had $750 of resort credit, that we used for three massages (I got two in on our last day since we had so much left over), two deluxe pedicures, and hair styling at the salon (for my second photo shoot). So all in all, we paid $150 dollars for all of that. You can’t beat that! The food was great too, and we loved looking at all the memorabilia. We stayed there for 4 nights, so we were in Mexico for 12 days. I’m so glad we took the time to stay longer - it was nice to have some time to ourselves to unwind from the wedding. At Home Reception: We had an at home reception on Sunday, June 28 - only three days after we got back. Crazy, I know, but we didn’t want to drag the whole thing out forever. It ended up being great. It was a casual, graduation party-type vibe, that lasted from 2-6, with chicken and brats (I’m Polish!) and cookout food, a live band (but no one really danced), with everyone just talking and mingling. Many people who came to Mexico were there, but not all of them, but it was a nice way to celebrate with the people who couldn’t go to Mexico. *** IN CONCLUSION, I had the best wedding ever. Way better than I ever expected. I would give anything to do it all again!

Hi brides! I'm getting married in the Mayan Riviera in April and would like to hire a mariachi band for our cocktail reception in between the ceremony and dinner/reception. However, the quote I'm getting from my hotel is $450 for a 45 minute set which seems absurd. I have a few questions about this: 1. Have any of you ever negotiated prices in your wedding package, and if so was it successful? 2. For any of you who have booked a mariachi band in the past, is this a reasonable price? If not, what is a reasonable price? If you have a band recommendation in the Mayan Riviera area that would be less than this, please let me know! Robyn

Hello Future Brides, So I have been looking at other posts regarding Grand Coral or other off site venues but I haven't seen anything newly updated. I recently changed my venue in the beginning of this year. Right now I am in the process of securing my venue. Would love to hear any brides that are doing an off site venue or past brides that have dealt with Grand Coral. Would really appreciate the feedback. Many thanks, Bev

Hello Ladies! We’re about 4.5 months out, so I’ve decided to start one of these planning threads to help me organize myself and get me motivated to start executing all of my plans! I have all of these different folders and notepads on my desktop, and it will be nice to have one place where it's all laid out. This forum has honestly been such a godsend to me in planning my wedding. I’ve found it really helpful to read other brides’ accounts, and I’m hoping I can pay it forward to any future brides. I am a big planner and I love to write, so I am planning on detailing my whole destination wedding planning experience. Feel free to jump forward and just read the planning stuff! I will update pics and stuff once I get things ordered and completed. This first post is going to be really long because it'll be all of my ideas - I will post updates later once I actually execute and finish these. I can't remember how to put pics in so everyone can see them, so I'm uploading them on a separate site - sorry if the pics are huge! Our Story My FI, Tony, and I met online almost 5 years ago exactly. When we first met, we were both pretty young and neither of us was looking for anything serious. I had just gotten out of a long term relationship, and he was still very much in “single” mode and still enjoying it. Much to our surprise though, we found ourselves wanting it to become more serious pretty quickly and we made it "official" about a month later. We’ve had a fantastic relationship throughout, but I think it was really in our last couple of years together that we’ve really grown and matured as a couple. It took us 4.5 years of dating to get engaged - much longer than many of our friends - but I’m glad for it because I feel like we know each other so well now, faults and all, and have gone through so much together. I can confidently say that I love him to pieces and I’m so excited to spend the rest of our lives together. >> The pic on the left was our first pic taken together as a couple right after we started dating almost 5 years ago! It was for my 26th birthday and it pretty much describes what we were like back then (multiple drinks in hand!). The other is us in Peru last year after completing the Inca hike to Machu PIcchu! Our guide told us that you can really learn about your relationship after completing the hike because it's so draining and it can bring out people's worst sides. For me, I saw how completely supportive and strong Tony was and it made me fall in love with him all over again. The Engagement My FI proposed on March 20, 2014. I later found out this is actually “National Engagement Day” which is pretty funny and a big coincidence. I did have some inkling before because my FI is very open, oblivious and not sneaky at all, so he was terrible at covering his tracks. I actually found a jeweller’s business card on our coffee table with a post it on it with different diamond specs and prices! Hilarious. I left it there for him to “find” to see if he’d talk to me about it or not (and so I could give him guidance to my ring ), and I even stuck it directly under the remote control, but he was oblivious and didn’t notice it! I finally put the card away after 2 weeks because I couldn’t look at it anymore haha. He had originally planned a trip for us to go to Montreal over March Break (I’m a teacher), but he ended up slipping a disc in his back and was out of commission so we ended up not going. He had booked a room at the Fairmount, and had rose petals and champagne planned, but had to cancel everything 2 days before. So for his actual proposal a week later, I came home to find him cooking a romantic 3 course meal. I instantly suspected something because it’s been a long running joke between us that he should cook for me (I’m the cook in our relationship - he’s never made anything more than eggs!). It was super cute because he had found this menu on Martha Stewart and was really focussed and following the directions to a T. After dinner, he told me to go get the dessert (there was a cake box in the fridge), and I knew this had to be it because he’s usually always trying to avoid dessert as he’s a big health nut. Then he said to me “oh wait, I have to get something” and ran into our bedroom to get the ring box haha. I opened the box and it said “Lily, Will You Marry Me?” on it, and he got down on one knee and proposed . I love the way he ended up proposing because it was very sweet and kind of bumbly like him, and I love that he put in effort in doing something special for me. Thankfully, he consulted my best friend on the ring (like all of my presents haha) and he got me exactly what I wanted . I absolutely adore my ring! It’s a 1.5 carat round brilliant solitaire on 3 rows of micropave. It’s simple but gorgeous, and I still stare at my hand all the time Choosing a Destination Wedding After our engagement, my FI asked me what I thought about having a destination wedding. I was actually really surprised because I always thought he’d want a big wedding like all of his friends. He liked the idea of it being simpler, and he thought it’d be less work for us to do (ha!). And while the cost wasn’t a driving factor for us, it was a bonus that it would probably be a lot less than having it in Toronto. I’ve personally always wanted a destination wedding because I love the idea of a wedding and vacation combined, and having a whole week of memories with loved ones instead of just one day. I also don't like being the centre of attention, and I knew having a wedding in Toronto would mean at least 200 people, if not more. We checked with our parents, and both were on board because both families have already had big splashy weddings with our elder siblings. So we decided to go forward with having a destination wedding! I’m going back to school next year so I only have very specific weeks I’d be able to marry. I also wanted to get married sooner rather than later; we’ve been dating for so long now, I didn’t really want to wait over a year to get married. I had time in October, December, February or April. We ruled out October because of hurricane season, February because of spring breakers and high prices, and April was okay but further away than I wanted. We settled on December right before Christmas, and chose our wedding date of December 19, 2014 Choosing a Resort This was THE most painful process, and I completely empathize with all new brides that are dealing with this. It was so stressful finding a resort that checked all of our boxes, and yet also would be affordable for guests. Our main priorities were: - Beautiful and modern with a beautiful wedding area - Close to nightlife and entertainment (our friends are big partiers) - Under 2k for a week but closer to 1500 would be ideal - Not too far from the airport - Golf available and green fees included (FI’s parents are golf nuts - this was their one requirement) - Established wedding department with good reviews - Good, swimmable beach (we were asking our guests to come all the way to Mexico so we wanted to make sure the beach was gorgeous) - Family friendly (Our siblings have little ones, and a lot of our friends) Our first travel agent (more on this later!) helped us narrow down our choice of hotels. I did soo much reading of reviews the first couple of weeks. We decided that Cancun was probably our ideal location, and we started trying to find resorts that fit the rest of our requirements. We finally settled on the Now/Dreams, Palace and Karisma chains. I loved the look of the Now and Dreams resorts, but decided to rule them out for a couple of reasons. First, most were located more in the Riviera Maya area which was further away to nightlife/entertainment, and the beaches were inferior to the Cancun ones. Also, while I loved the look of the hotels, the cost of the weddings was actually pretty high, and I didn’t like the idea of multiple weddings per day. So we took them out. I’ve heard such good things about the Karisma hotels, but we decided to also rule them out mainly because of costs. We were afraid the price would be too high for our guests, especially because certain amenities like green fees weren’t included. This was hard though because I fell in love with the way weddings look here, and the whole gourmet experience was really appealing to me. That left us with Palace. We loved how Palace has really good amenities. There’s a $1500 credit per room booked that I thought would be great for guests as they could use it on tours, golf, upgrades, etc. Also, Palace has really good wedding benefits and freebies if we could book more than 75 room nights, which we were pretty sure we could. We first looked at Moon Palace, but ruled it our ultimately because of the beach, location (a bit isolated), and I didn’t like the idea that it was such a huge resort. We wanted to spend time with our guests, and Moon Palace just seems like it’d be overwhelming. We finally looked at Beach Palace and decided that it had the best combination of everything we wanted. We loved that it was right in Cancun, 10 minutes from nightlife, the beach is gorgeous, and we liked how it’s a smaller, more intimate resort. And to really cap it off, the Beach Palace wedding areas are gorgeous - we are having our ceremony on the rooftop sky deck, and our reception on the sky terrace with private pool - both overlooking the ocean and lagoon! >> This is where our ceremony and reception are going to be! I love the whole rooftop element The Booking Process and Dealing with Family While I was doing all of this, my sister was stressing me out SO much because she’s really cheap and she kept sending me links to these 3 star “deals” from travel zoo, cheap caribbean, etc. I told her it was our wedding, and we had very specific things in mind. We wanted to make it affordable for our guests, but at the same time I knew that a 3 star resort in Mexico wasn’t going to do it! We thought about changing the location to Punta Cana for a while, doing an off resort wedding and having people stay wherever, etc. Finally I just pushed her aside and focussed on what my FI and I wanted in our wedding. And despite almost booking with Expedia 100 times and literally bothering my TA and I to save what was essentially $30/person (I kid you not), she finally booked with our group. We did experience a period where we were a bit disillusioned and disappointed in certain people. We had expected more people to book, and we had had people telling us how happy and excited they were, and then disappearing off the face of the earth or coming at us with really disappointing excuses. I think every destination wedding couple goes through this - you expect your loved ones to be as happy and excited. We've since come around though, and we're now super excited and focused on the people that HAVE booked. I am determined to make our wedding week an absolute blast! As of right now, we have 36 adults, 2 toddlers and 3 babies booked! Our situation is a bit different than a lot of brides here because our date was so close and the hotel was already quite booked, we had to put down $300 deposits to hold rooms and we didn’t have that 90 day period. We decided to hold 10 rooms/20 air seats immediately, and those got snatched up right away. We’ve had guests continuing to book, and so far everyone has been able to pay the same price. We have guests coming from Toronto, Edmonton, the US, and Australia Everyone is staying at the resort and has booked under our group reservation except for my other sister, who decided to book at another resort and is just coming over for the wedding. Gotta love family! Travel Agents This has been my other stressful area. Our first TA was from destinationweddings.com - I did what a lot of DW brides probably do. Googled “destination weddings” and clicked on the first thing that came up. I liked their website, and decided to go forward and contact them. They require a $50 deposit which would be used at booking, so figured we didn’t have much to lose. Our first agent, Leslie, was nice enough and helped us narrow down our resort, but I didn’t love her response time and she ultimately wasn’t able to get us a really good rate for Beach Palace. I was finding cheaper rates everywhere else, and this was really frustrating. I posted on here, and got recommendations for another TA whom I contacted and she was great at first. Super responsive and on the ball, and ultimately got us a really good rate that we were very happy with. Even my FI was really impressed with her. I will be honest in saying since then, we’ve been really unpleased with her performance as it has completely gone downhill. I will be a lot more upfront and honest with these details when our wedding is over. The best suggestion I have for choosing a travel agent is to really take your time in talking to different agents, and try to get references from brides AFTER their weddings have already taken place. You want someone that is going to give great service from beginning to end. I also think we had a very short time period to work with (less than 9 months!) and that was me being over-eager haha. If we had waited until April 2015, I think we'd have been less stressed and we'd probably had had more guests come... but c'est la vie . Our Invitations We wanted to get our invitations sent out immediately because our wedding was only 8 months away after booking our resort. We sent out an email immediately to our VIPs with our TA’s info, and ordered invitations. We decided to budget here because we’ve never really cared about other people’s wedding invitations, and we knew we still had over 100 invitations to send. We also decided to forego save the dates, and just send our invitations early. I love the way passports and boarding pass invites look, but we didn’t really have time to design them and didn’t want to pay a ton to have them made. We also figured we could do passports for the people that actually did book with more information. I found Minted.com and I really liked their designs and prices. We found one that looked like a luggage tag, and thought this would be a fun but simple invite. I realized that the save the date version had all the same specs with just slightly different wording (that I could edit!), but was almost $1 cheaper. Done! I changed all of the info to make it look like the invitation, and ordered 115. Minted was great and I’d highly recommend them. They sent me my proof within 24 hours, and quickly made the changes I wanted. We got them less than a week later, I added some coral and white twine, and got them into the mail immediately. I ordered RSVPs from Vistaprint for super cheap, and put a small note with our website and booking information on the back of it to save money instead of having another enclosure. We decided to NOT put return envelopes and stamps because we’ve heard that many people don’t bother. Instead, we asked people to RSVP by email or our website, and we figured we’d ultimately know if they were coming or not through their bookings! We made the RSVP date October 1, 2014 which is around when final payments are due. I’d recommend both Minted and Vistaprint. The Minted designs and quality are a lot nicer, and I love that they print the address on for free (the envelopes looked gorgeous!), but Vistaprint is crazy cheap. We ended up ordering our engagement party invitations here, and they look great (albeit cheaper card stock quality and the envelope included is super thin and cheap looking). I got this custom address stamp from Etsy (SweetmintPress), and figured it was worth the cost because we’d be putting it on our invitations, pre-wedding mailers, thank you cards, etc. Great etsy seller, and I love the stamp The Dress I was probably MOST excited about buying my dress! I wanted a sweetheart neckline, lace, trumpet/mermaid style and some type of gorgeous detail to the skirt. In a nut shell, I wanted Vera Wang but for $6k less haha. My mom generously offered to buy my dress for me, and her budget was 2k. I know myself and I can easily have very expensive tastes, so I made sure to book appointments at stores where this budget would be respected. I didn’t want to be the girl falling in love with the 10k dress (which I could so easily do haha). My mom and my best friend/MOH came with me to all of my appointments. This was the perfect number - I knew they’d give me their honest opinions, and I also knew they wouldn’t overwhelm me either. I made appointments immediately and ended up going to 7 different bridal stores in about a 2 week span (and 1 trip to Kleinfield at the Bay later on - read about my experience here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/77084-kleinfield-the-bay-experience-and-my-dress/). I had a really good experience dress shopping. All of the salesladies were lovely, and I tried on a ton of gorgeous dresses. Luckily, the style I loved most actually looked best on me too, so I knew what I wanted. The first week, we had a bunch of dress names written down to possibly revisit, but none were “the one” yet, for whatever reason. I found some dresses photographed beautifully but didn’t have a lot of wow factor in person. I also found the opposite to be true - some dresses looked SO good in person, but once we saw it in a picture it’d be very meh. I also tried on some that would have been gorgeous if I was having a wedding at home, but just seemed too big or fancy for a small wedding in Mexico. I didn’t want to go super simple or beachy with my dress, but I still wanted to be pragmatic. I found my dress at Dina Alonzi - a high end bridal store in Toronto (they carry Lorenzo, Rivini, Monique L’huillier, etc.) Now this was totally out of our budget, but they were having a sample sale and I figured this would be my one opportunity to try on amazing high end dresses at a cheaper price! After trying to get a few on and not having them go past my butt (!), I tried on one that fit perfectly - Monique L’huillier’s Sahara - stepped out and looked in the mirror, and we all kind of just sighed at once. The dress was very simple and romantic, and it just fit so beautifully. It also had everything I wanted - a soft, sweetheart neckline, lace, a bit of ruching, and a lightly asymmetrical skirt. It was lightweight and very easy to walk and sit in. The sales lady put a veil on me, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of myself. There was no crying or anything like that, but kind of a breathless anticipation, if that makes sense. NOW this dress was still completely over budget. The retail original price was $5400, the sample price was $2700 - half price and a super good deal, but still more than we had been anticipating. With tax, it brought it up to over 3k which is a substantial increase and I couldn't do that. So I took it off, and we left the store, and I went to more dress appointments and almost settled on a couple of different ones, but I couldn’t stop thinking about that dress. This is when I decided to consider other options. I found preownedweddingdresses.com and I found my dress listed as a sample, in my size for $1500 US. I emailed the seller and found that it was from a bridal boutique in Atlanta, and that the dress was in almost perfect condition because the store was very good at being the only ones to handle dresses. She e-mailed me pics of the hem and lace close up, and I could see that it was perfect. My heart stopped. I went back to the original boutique to try on the dress again and make sure the size was good and that I still loved it. I did! So I bought the dress online and had it shipped to Niagara Falls to save on shipping, and my mom and I drove over to pick it up the next week. The dress was PERFECT - in better condition than the sample at the boutique, and we got it for about $1800 CDN total… under budget and a Monique L’huillier!! I still need to get it hemmed, but otherwise it fits pretty perfectly. So my advice here is be open to where your dress is coming from! I never thought I’d buy a sample, and I definitely never thought I’d buy my dress online. But overall, I managed to get my dream dress for less than a third of the retail price, and I couldn't be happier! My dream shoe is Jimmy Choo's Yvette or Lang sandal in Champagne or Gold on the left. My realistic shoe is probably Badgley Mischka's Landmark in Platino (right) - just need to find them in person to try them on. I don't want anything overly bridal because I do want to be able to wear them again. I'm still debating this, but I'm thinking of getting this dress made as a reception and TTD from Carabridal on Etsy. Bridesmaid Dresses I bought these almost immediately. I’ve been a bridesmaid 4 times now, and I personally have always hated the whole to do about bridesmaid dresses. I haven’t loved everything I’ve had to wear, but I always knew that was what I was signing on for as a bridesmaid, so I sucked it up and wore whatever dress the bride wanted me to. I’ve had to deal with other bridesmaids making such an ordeal about the dress, and I never got that. I know my 2 co-mohs VERY well as they are my best friend and cousin, so I just bought and chose their dresses for them. Bridesmaid dresses was not something I wanted to stress about at all. I liked the J Crew silk chiffon dresses, and basically bought what was on sale and matched my colour scheme. I made sure the dresses were in styles they liked (i.e. 1 loves one shouldered dresses, the other hates to wear a strapless bra so I got something with thick straps) and bought them! Got them for about $80 each and the girs are happy with them. They can wear whatever jewelry and neutral/gold toned shoes they want. I like the mismatched/ombre look for dresses >> My original mood board Groom, Groomsmen and Ring Bearers' Attire The one thing my FI was a bit excited about (haha) was being able to splurge on a new suit. He bought a light grey fitted Canali suit from Harry Rosen’s that cost more than my dress (ha!), and he’s pretty happy about it. We’re going to have him in a white shirt, black and white striped suspenders and a black bow tie. I want him to look more classical than beachy. The groomsmen are going to look complimentary, but not exactly matching. So they are going to be wearing darker grey dress pants, white shirts tucked in, black suspenders, and the checked bow tie on the left (no jackets). I got their suspenders and bow tie from an online store called the Grunion Run. Our 3 little nephews are going to be ring bearers (they will be 2.5, 3.5 and 9 months), and I got them khaki pants (Old Navy), white button up t-shirts (Gap), navy blue boat shoes (Gap), and little checked bow ties and navy suspenders (Etsy - Sweetnswag). I am so excited to see how they look - they are going to be so so adorable . Vendors I booked these almost immediately after setting our wedding date. It took me a while to narrow down our choices, but we ended up hiring DJ Discomovil for music and some lights, Styling Trio for makeup and hair, Indigo Wedding for vidography and Juan Carlos Lancelotti for photography. My FI didn't want to spend a crazy amount on photography or videography, so we did budget more here. If budget was no issue, we probably would have went with Elizabeth Medina or Del Sol, but the amount they charge for just 5-6 hours of photography was way over our budget, and I wanted to allocate that money toward other things as well. Our ceremony is fairly early at 2pm, and we're hoping our party goes until at least 11 - so we wanted a package with 8-10 hours! I found Lancelotti's website randomly, and I really liked the softness to his pictures and how he captures intimate moments. I was torn between him and Samuel Luna for a while (I still love his work!), but my FI liked Lancelotti more so we went with him. He is priced SO reasonably, and we're getting our engagement pics, TTD and 8-10 hours with 2 shooters and all edited pics for a really good price. We did our engagement pics on Isla Mujeres when we went down for our site visit in June, and here are some pictures he took: OOT Bags We want to make our guests feel very welcomed and appreciated, so we're definitely going to make welcome bags. I ordered the actual bags from Wedding Chicks when they had their 40% off sale. I got 20 bags with mint green writing, and 20 bags with peach coloured writing. My FI didn't want anything overly feminine as we're giving the bag to guys as well, so we chose the Hola Amigo design. They came out to $3.38 per bag! Each guest will get a bag, and we're also going to include personalized tumblers for everyone. We got the Dollarama ones for $2 each, and I'm going to order the "drink in my hand"stickers from Etsy soon. Each couple/single will also get a bath pouf (Dollarama), deck of cards (Bicycle - Costco), door knob hanger (Etsy) and an Oh Shit kit including Emergen-C packets, hangover pills (my FI can order these 2 things at wholesale costs), Advil tube (Dollarama) , bandaids, herbal tea packets, travel aloe (target?), condoms for the singles (haha), and a couple safety pins, bobby pins and hair tiers each. We're also putting in fun sunglasses for the men, and pashminas for the women (my mom can order these at wholesale prices). I'm estimating the singles bags will be about $15-$20, and the couples a bit less than that because they’ll be sharing some of the contents. For the kids, we're going to add sand toys, colouring books/crayons, bubble wands, stickers and a book each. We decided to also get a couple boogie boards and frisbees that we’re going to take down so everyone can use on the beach. >> We ordered these totes, but 20 with mint green writing and 20 with peach writing. I'll update the pic when our actual ones come in! They are being shipped to us right now >> I'm going to order these door knob hangers once we finalize our number! I may or may not also get the itinerary card (Etsy - OneEarDesign) >> I bought these from Dollarama for $2 each. I'm going to order the Davet Designs stickers on Etsy to personalize them, and I got some plain black vinyl stickers to put peoples initials as well. I also got little kiddie ones for the toddlers I apparently have too many pics to upload haha. I'll try to post my decor stuff later!
