  1. I ended up going with Air Canada because their pricing was the cheapest. WestJet was easily $300-$400 more. I would have preferred Sunwing because of all the extras they offered but just didn't work out. Good luck!
  2. I printed mine at home on cardstock on my inkjet printer and they look fantastic. If I could figure out how to post a picture, I would. I got the template from aylee's website, and off I went. For the ticket jacket I used pink cardstock that I folded in 3, and cut the corner of one to make it look more official. When closed up I tied them with ribbon. I also did a luggage tag on the front that said 'Ticket to Paradise, Kim & Shawn, January 21, 2015, Mayan Riviera, Mexico' Man I want to post pics!!! For our pre-travel letter I plan to get them printed at Staples as they are double sided and that seems much easier and more cost effective. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I have my basic wedding time line, but haven't discussed anything about time with the photographers, spa, etc. 3:30pm ceremony 4:00pm toast and appetizers, group photos 4:30pm ish - 5:30pm photo shoot with wedding party and then bride & groom, while there is open bar for everyone else 5:30pm-11:00pm - dinner and reception 11:00pm DISCO!
  4. I was ok paying for the dinner, but the booze! come on! hehe they must know how much my friends and family drink
  5. My groom and his party are all wearing the same things. White dress shirt and black striped/plaid shorts. Not sure which they are lol, but they aren't overly formal, but not casual with cargo pockets, etc. Good enough for me! We didn't want it to be a formal wedding, or I would have opted for the linen pants and such.
  6. I might be a little bitter too!!!! It totally sounds like a gift to them, not to you!! We are also paying for the wedding ourselves. We got engaged on Apr 1, and we booked a resort early May for January 2015 so we feel the pressure. When things (like photos) costed more than I thought, etc. So I have really had to cut back on some things (ie I can't afford OOT bags, but would never have thought to do it if it wasn't for this awesome site), but I am definitely getting all the big stuff that is important to me! I have become super thrifty that is forsure. Most is DIY or bargain shopping.
  7. Our resort asked us to choose these songs: bridal party, bride, signing, exit. I was thinking about just having us all walk to the same music, but I decided that the bride should have a much grander entrance so I exed that. I want to stand out, darnit! lol! I am walking to 1000 years by Christina Perri, but I am using the instrumental version by the Piano Guys. Love it! I am leaning to the BP walking to Everything by Michael Buble. I really LOVE the song 'best day of my life' by American Authors but it's somewhat fast.
  8. I picked fuschia/hot pink! After the fact, I kind of wished I did the fuschia/orange combo, but plan to get the BM flowers in orange to bring that in some. I love the look of turquoise for the beach too!
  9. I just want to say congrats and enjoy!! To both of you I have never stayed there but it was on my short list when I visited Cuba this year. We ended up choosing an Adult Only, but it was a top pick.
  10. @@jsparrow10 I agree, I heard that alot too. My rules, I probably brought more than I should have, but thankfully we all had similar tastes and wasn't an issue. Everyone loved my top 2!
  11. All I have to pay pre wedding is my deposit and nothing else until I am in Mexico. I plan to go to the bank in December or early January and see what the best financial option would be (ie - is converting Canadian to Pesos any better than USD to Canadian, etc.) I have heard of US accounts but don't have one -- maybe I should! @@Dreamteam17 - I'ts been bugging me for awhile now LOL!!!
  12. I went all over the place with favors, I could not decide. We finally ended up choosing maracas. Each person will get one at the reception and it will have this say (or a variation of it - can't remember it word for word right now) 'Instead of tapping on your glass, here is a system with Mexican class. Stand up and shake with all your might to see the groom kiss his bride tonight' Makes it fun too!! I am also sending luggage tags out pre travel. I love the OOT bag idea but it is not in our budget. For my bridesmaids I did a few things... 1. make up bag in my wedding color 2. an anklet with an infinity charm and some beads in my wedding color 3. bangels 4. flip flops with removable flower 5. picture frame with a picture of us together in it 6. kleenex, nail file, chapstick, etc. 7. I also helped pay for some of their dresses Most of the above they will wear at the wedding I spent alot of time looking at wedding favor websites, pinterest, and Etsy.
  13. Gorgeous, thank you for sharing. I hate to admit this, but wedding pictures make me tear up!!!
  14. I'd be curious to, to see how they come out and if people actually watch them again. That would be my biggest concern, about if I would ever watch it again and if it would be worth the money. If I am being completely honest, the cost of photography was hard for me. I almost decided to only have my ceremony and 1 hour photo shoot done, then I smarten up and realized that my photos were my only real memory. Most brides say their weddings are such a whirlwind they forget alot - so I needed the pictures. So I got the entire day package.
  15. My mom passed away years ago so that never crossed my mind. My family and 2 of my BM's live 12 hours away. I asked my bestfriend and she declined - and we basically haven't talked since. (long story!!) So all that said, lol, I had 1 BM, my future sister in law, and 2 close friends. Was a fantastic day, we had lunch and everything. They made me feel so special and it was awesome.
  16. That sucks, but glad you are happy with it. How many weddings does your site do a day? I think ours does 3 but they have 3 options for ceremonies so that may be why ?? (private beach, public beach, and chapel).
  17. You can check out their website and see... I just did for you and they don't They have one in Calgary or Winnipeg, but I am sure you won't be travelling. Your girls will have an idea, we have some in Calgary who advertise no dress is over $1000! I think you should, and just think, when more of the baby weight comes off you will feel super excited you went down a size hehe.. but I totally understand. But atleast take a look to see ones you may or may not like. HAVE FUN!!!!!
  18. I just posted this in the Canadian Brides post because I will also lose close to $1000 in conversion. Never thought about my credit card also tacking more on top GRRR... Will have to look into that. I have considered getting the cost of my wedding converted into pesos in Canada but feel uncomfortable carrying that much cash AND not sure Mexico would let me in with it (could have family carry some)... Just not sure the best route.
  19. OK, please tell me I am not alone.. Am I the only one who is a little annoyed that our Canadian dollars are being converted to US dollars when we pay for our wedding? I mean, I may lose close to $1000 because of this GRRRRRR I have considered converting to peso's in Canada and paying cash BUT, that is a heck of alot of money to bring with me. Credit Card is probably the easiest but that exchange rate kills me. Anyone else thought of this?
  20. I had to go and look -- ours are 34oz and I thought those were big!! The clips are a neat idea!! The shot glass idea is also neat. I considered getting personalized wine glasses, so those could be put out to use at our toast instead of the resort glasses, but the thought of bringing all that glass scares me!
  21. Oh yes the post pregnancy chest Does SK have a David's Bridal? They have very budget friendly dresses. I almost didn't go to them because I was worried they would be cheap looking, but they totally are not! I ordered mine in early May and it took 2.5 months to come in. They had told me 3. On the other hand, they told me my BM dresses will take 14 weeks, so we shall see. Not sure why so long?
  22. Exciting!!! We don't get a WC coordinator until 2-3 months before either, but we get the general wedding lady to answer all our questions, send us all the files of things we need to pick (flowers, cake, extras, etc.). Seems to work well!!! Waiting for the RSVPs to come in was agonizing but you will get there. My deadline just passed. Have fun planning!!!
  23. My BM attended another DW where they didn't even get a wedding favor!! When she sees all the little things I am doing it blows her mind! Trust me, the 20oz cups will be an awesome hit!! And you are right, it can sober you up hehhee! God it's going to be a blast isn't it? We can't wait. With our massive bubbas, we could fill it in the AM and it lasted until lunch!! They are pretty massive. In Mexico their resort cups weren't overly small, but in Cuba they only fit 1/2 of a beer (yes 1/2!!!). They were pathetic. What are the clothes pins for?
