  1. Oh I thought I would add in to remember to bring bug spray!!! And some after bite or something of the sort for when you ignore the bug spray bit and get a million little bites and can't stop scratching them!! Lol some people were lucky and didn't get any, some got about million. I got a bunch, mostly on my shins and ankles from wearing dresses in the evening. You don't notice them around at all....but these little bites are super itchy!! We have been home almost a week and they are still itchy.
  2. They have a laundry service but it is pretty pricey. My sisters came with their small kids. They ended up just packing a little detergent and doing a little laundry in the room and hanging it to dry...it dries quickly. I also jumped in the pool in my dress one night and it dried quickly and I wore it again....so no worries!
  3. Yes round tables. A long head table at the front of the room for 10. And 7 round tables in a semi circle around the head table with 9-11 people at each
  4. The only things you have to claim are gifts....so OOT bag items and any other gifts you are giving to your bridal party or who ever. I had receipts for everything including decor. As soon as the X-ray guy saw all of our travel mugs, I knew we were getting a red light...so over to the checking area, they just had us open all our luggage, did a quick pat down of it, asked what we were doing there and sent us through. No one checked my receipts which I was a little sad since I was so organized! Lol
  5. Hey! I know this feeling too! Lol I am in Canada so it works a little differently but here we had to get a license and then we have to have a justice of the peace or minister or someone allowed to marry us do the whole little ceremony and then they are responsible for sending the license in. Then you get it back in the mail once all the paper work is completed. Once you have the actually marriage licence, it is legal, and you can go about changing your name and such. We decided to do it after our actual wedding so that day really is our wedding date. We got married October 23 and are going to meet my uncle, who is a minister, November 15 to sign the papers. Hope that helps a little! Good luck!
  6. We had 9-11 at each table. The ones with 11 were one or two kids though. But honestly, even with 10 adults at a table it did not look too cramped at all.
  7. We paid the remaining balance before we left just so that it was out of the way. We did not tip him as we paid him directly. Also, we had 80 people attend and extended the reception two hours, and we paid a lot in included gratuities (in excess of $1000) so I did not tip anyone else after the fact. I know some of guests were tipping the bartenders, but I did not encourage them to, they did it on their own. For hair and makeup, I would say if you can go without extensions that would be ideal...it is just so hot and humid that the added hair would have made me crazy! And for the makeup, they have quite a bit there, but if you would like a specific brand or colours than what they have then bring your own! They love dark makeup with a serious smokey eye! The only thing we did was touch up some blemishes that weren't covered well and lighten the smokey eye. I also did my own mascara since I had extensions on my lashes and I have a small eyelash obsession!
  8. Hey ladies!! I just posted my review of our ewedding on October 23! It was perfect! Let me know if anyone has any questions!!
  9. We had between 9 and 11 at each table but 11 would have been 2 kids at least. Nobody felt cramped at all though! We did not request a bar and I was under the impression that we would not have one as the wedding prices say there is a charge for it. But it was there. And very well used! Lol and my husband and I had our own server who was just for us! It was great! The wifi is a little spotty, you often have to reconnect, but it was free and we could use WhatsApp or iMessage between the group. Now Jade also just joined the app that they have so you can make phone calls and stuff for free. We didn't get to utilize it as I think it launched on October 27 or so and most people were already gone. But I would tell everyone to download the app and then you call all use it. They have Modela, Corona, Corona Light, Bud, and Bud lite Long story short, our TA is a complete joke. She never booked the room that we had requested and she had confirmed, and then the hotel was booked solid and they also did not upgrade us. I was choked at first but got over it pretty quickly. Our room was beautiful. It was a preferred ocean view. In building 8. Room 8309, it has one of the best views there.
  10. Hey! We just had our wedding last Thursday and are actually still here at the resort. It is amazing!! We had a group of 80 in the Bamboo Room and it was awesome!! It was intimate but not at all cramped! The head table was along the bamboo wall and I had 7 tables in a semi circle around the sides. We also hired DJ Discomovil who was set up in the back corner and then a bar was set up in another corner. The middle was left for the dance floor and it was the perfect amount of space for 80 people. We didn't stop dancing until midnight!! As for the serving staff requesting money....we never had any issues at all!! Everyone was so great! I will post some pics once we are home.
  11. We are leaving for Mexico tomorow morning!! I am pretty excited! I have almost everything packed up and ready to go! Going for a manicure and then out for dinner with the FI. Then it's off we go! Yay!

No worries! I am actually super happy with how they turned out! A little tedious but love the final product!
  13. The limit is $300 per person and it is only for gifts. Wedding related decor is not included in this number. I am going to bring the receipts for certain items though since I have 15 table runners, 100 chair sashes etc. just so they know that I am not bringing them into the country for resale. Is it weird that the whole going through customs seems to make me the most nervous of anything!??
  14. . I think it worked out great, I have less to carry with me(for customs and such) which is perfect for me! No regrets at all!
  15. They totally love they jewelry! I am actually so sad that I didn't order myself the same set....I might have to when we get back!
  16. Today is Tuesday....we are leaving FOUR days!! I can't believe it is all happening finally!! We got all of the wedding stuff packed up over the weekend...it all fits in two suitcases and I am keeping all the tea light holders in our carry on. I am pretty happy about it! Now to pack up all of our clothes and such!! We had our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner yesterday with my family and we gave my sisters their bridesmaid gifts (earrings and a bracelet)and our niece and nephews their gifts(we got them an 'airplane goody bag' a small reusable bag and inside a bathing suit, sunglasses, band aids, pez, stickers, colouring packet with crayons, small games, some small toys, books). Happy packing everyone!
  17. I would love to show you a planning journal....however, I am not nearly as organized as all of you ladies!! I will be lucky to get everything done and packed! I will try to take pictures though and post something!! FI and I are just spending the evening on the couch watching hockey after having breakfast for dinner no wedding talk tonight!!
  18. I thought that would work, but we are giving out travel mugs and I don't want people to forget them...and more than half live across the country or around the world....so I am going to give out a bunch at the airport for people to put in their own carry on...the rest we have to lug with us!
  19. We leave in 10 days!!! How did time fly by already?! I had my bachelorette this last weekend...it was so much fun!! And a little blurry! Lo I am feeling like I will never get everything done and ready at this point! Spent the day crafting yesterday but had to stop when I ran out of the only glue that works....so back to michaels I go today! I am going to give my sisters their bridesmaid gifts before we leave so I don't have carry more gifts with us. It sucks since we won't be all together at the same time to do it though. Trying to sort out receipts for everything is making me crazy!! The ones I am bringing are for the gifts, the tumblers we are giving out and for some of the decorations. Do I need to bring anymore?? How excited is everyone?!!!
  20. @@Stack02 @@Blondiefish26 We arrive on October 18 and are staying until November 1! It is coming up so quickly now!! For tipping, this is what I understand...you don't need to tip the external DJ as you are paying him directly. I am not sure about the waitstaff but we are going with no but we have 80 people, so with all those extras they add on gratuity which is in our contract. I think we will give the wedding coordinator a tip(how much though?!!). We have Ariadna. She is awesome, very quick to respond and easy to deal with! I am getting so excited to leave! I really need to get the last things done that I have procrastinated so long! I have the wedding fan programs to print and assemble, table numbers to assemble, card box to decorate, and diy wedding hangers to make....hmmm...seems like quite the list now! Then I just have to pack everything.... Been dealing with our travel agent as well....she is a little frustrating. The company we went with offers the bride a groom a room upgrade and flight upgrade. Both of which she did not do. So now I am going back and forth with her to change it. As if now, she can't change our room, and the flight she can do 24 hours out, but only based on availability.
  21. We weren't able to find any that we really liked that were based in Canada. We ended up ordering from discount mugs. They turned out awesome!! But we did get dinged with shipping and duties. The mugs ended up costing about $5.50 each. Which really isn't too bad since we are not doing OOT bags.
  22. Hey ladies!! Hope you are all getting excited! I had my bridal shower yesterday. It was so much fun! It really made this whole thing real for me and now I can't wait! My best friend did an amazing job and had everyone write in their favourite memory of me and I was bawling the whole time! It was really sweet though! I feel so touched that so many people came out and were so incredibly generous The bachelorette is this weekend!! Should be fun! I booked a little spa day for the morning with a gift card FI gave me for Christmas and then the shenanigans will start in the afternoon! Can't wait! I have no idea what is in store for me! We leave in 19 days, I have to finish all the little projects still....but the worst is that I am horrible with technology and am having the hardest time figuring out how to change of a parenthesis I have on a wedding fan program in Excel.... Uuuggghhhh...lol Have had a few people change their minds about who is coming in their group(a good friend has decided that her husband and her aren't doing so good, so he is staying home with the kids so they don't cause a scene!), and my Grampa cancelled his ticket as my Gramma who is in a home hasn't been doing well, although she is turning the corner so hopefully he will be able to rebook. Although understandable, I will be pretty sad if he can't come. That's it for now I think!
  23. Leaving in 25 days!! So excited! My shower is this weekend and I can't wait to see everyone!
  24. 30 days until we leave!! I'm so excited I can't concentrate on what needs to get done!! Lol
  25. I know how you are feeling!! We expected 40-50 and now have 82 booked!
