Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
TinkerSofi replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
that's what I found last year when I went too. It was mostly for couples planning their wedding here but not much help for DW brides. We ended up not going this time because it didn't work into our schedule and my fiance said that he was afraid I would change my mind about things, again, if we went haha. -
I would hire a travel agent and then go with the wedding planners over at the resort you choose. We're getting married at Azul Fives (almost the same distance from Playa as the Riu, but on the other side of the city). I can't really give you info on your two choices because I really don't know much about them. We've been to the Riu Palace las Americas in Cancun and while we really liked the hotel we felt like their wedding venues weren't all that private but it might be different at the Riu you're looking at. Anyway, all of the Azul resorts have excellent reviews. We chose Azul Fives because out of all 3 Azuls it was the closest one to Playa . Let me know if you have any questions

Any Wedding Dress Regrets?
TinkerSofi replied to kcole123's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@FutureMrsGlover I really like it! I'm wondering what kinds of dresses he thinks are sophisticated enough. Maybe ask him to find a few pictures for you and see exactly what he means. They might not be your cup of tea at all. -
Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?
TinkerSofi replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
we had the exact same issue! some people never saw the booking link on our save the dates. Things seemed to be a bit clearer when we sent our paper invites. However, even on our website, I made sure to write everything out nicely on the welcome page to direct people where to go. Unfortunately they still didn't read that so I ended up making things in point form haha. Then it finally worked . It's nice to have a website with all the nice wording and things like that but then I realized people just want to go in, check what they have to do and do it. My advice is, the shorter and more to the point it is, the less confusing and less questions you will get from your guests. -
Off Topic: Anyone In Alberta Do The Neon Run In Edmonton?
TinkerSofi replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Random Thoughts
yeah. I don't think they're for charity, color me rad was if you wanted to. We also thought the light could have been better at electro dash. There were parts where the terrain wasn't completely level and without light it could be potentially dangerous, especially if running with kids. There were a few things that looked like speed bumps when going downhill, so my friend and I were running and all of a sudden you make one step and there's no ground where you thought there would be haha (it was too dark to see them). We were ok, but I don't know how I would have felt if I was one of the people running with a stroller. I know that the neon run is at canyon meadows, not COP, so it might be a bit different. I did color me rad last year and THAT was fun. It was very well organized, during the day so no problems with lights and the terrain was challenging but doable for people of all ages/activity levels. -
I totally wanted half up half down but just the hair all day on my neck would drive me nuts with the humidity and heat so I'll wear it up. That's always an option if you want to show the back of your dress. I think you should wear something that's comfortable. August is one of the hottest months and I know that I'll want to put it up in a ponytail so as much as I'll love my hair half up it will be uncomfortable and it will look awful when I put it up half way through the wedding haha. I did the electrodash on Friday. It was fun but it was super cold! It was hard too as half of it was uphill with no breaks haha (at COP) but I enjoyed it . What happened in Edmonton? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Show us your wedding dress!

I agree with the two previous posts. For an hour, enjoy your wedding dress as much as you can. You only get to wear it once! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Oh man that sucks! I really hope she can work around it. Unfortunately I think diploma exams can't be given before because of the security around them (it's different when the teachers make the exam). He might be able to defer them until next semester maybe? Or I don't know if they would defer them for a few weeks later? I wonder what happens with people that get sick. I know I took one of my diplomas twice without taking the class twice but I had to wait until the next semester. There might be a way to work around it. It's ok to be selfish. When most of my fiance's friends said they would stay somewhere else, half of me felt really bad for my fiancé but the other half was really pissed that we wouldn't get all the perks Haha. We really wanted those free people to help a few people out. I felt selfish but whatever, I think anyone would feel the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think your best bet will be wedges if you want to wear heels. I'm wearing heels only because I'm extremely short but I'll have a pair of flats as backup because I know my feet will hurt at some point . I like the shoes at Nine West, they're quite comfortable for me at least. I don't have my shoes yet but I'm always on the lookout for the perfect pair Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dress Dilemma. .can't Decide
TinkerSofi replied to MJTK's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
you know, I kind of changed my mind haha, from 1 or 2, I love the bling on #2, but I think #1 fits better. You can't really go wrong with either though. You can definitely add more bling to #1 with a nice sash and really nice jewellery. -
Bachelorette Dresses!
TinkerSofi replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Yeah, everyone is switching to their winter dresses already. I think I'm going to wait until spring to get mine, but obviously you can't do that. They have such beautiful maxi dresses! I really wish I had more chances to wear long fancy dresses haha. I forgot about VS. I always get my bathing suits from them but I'm not sure how their clothes fit and their return policies are not as easy/friendly as lulu's -
I agree with kmk. Make sure you double check with them and it's ok to turn into a bit of a bridezilla haha, you are paying a huge chunk of money for this spot after all.. They confirmed my ceremony right away at the Sky Deck, but they took a while to confirm my reception there too. I was really worried that someone else would come in and just take it so it bugged them a few times whether they had heard anything. It was a sigh of relief when it was finally confirmed. Perhaps calling them would be better than through e-mail, then they can hear your disappointment/anger haha. It does seem really weird that they would have them so close to one another. To give you an idea, if you're having both the ceremony and reception up there, 2 hours apart, they set both events up from he start because they don't have time in 2 hours to take everything down and change it to the reception. They don't even get 2 hours, because some people get chatting after the ceremony and they take a while to leave, others show up for the next event early.

Dress Dilemma. .can't Decide
TinkerSofi replied to MJTK's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
same thing happened to me -
thanks for the info! We were there last year for May and we got really crappy, windy days to the point that we couldn't be on the beach without getting sandblasted all day (doesn't mean we didn't try haha). Then we were in Cancun in January and it rained 4/7 days we were there. The best weather we ever got there was in August haha, that was part of our decision . I think just like anywhere else it's a bit of a lottery. I live in Calgary, Canada and yeah we got a whole lot of snow this week, surprisingly and sadly.

I can't see them from my phone but I'm sure they look great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
There are so many choices for hair pieces! It's actually really hard to choose. I think it's a good idea to go to your hair dresser and maybe try a few things. It might be easier to visualize. I know a friend who got extensions for her wedding here in Calgary. They looked good! I think she let her hair grow up to shoulder length. I can try and find out where she got them if you want.
