  1. Hahaha Yes the ever so annoying " why are you having it there"? Honestly people are only saying this because they realize they don't have the money to go. But like I've said a million times. I'm not paying a bunch of money for other people to eat. And for them to feel better. At the end of the day the wedding is about the wedding couple. Although I would love to see a everyone we invited there. If someone can't make it then oh well. My FI and I will be happy and have a great time either way.
  2. I just want to get everything down so I don't have anything to do at the last minute. But I guess that is impossible. Since we are 7 months away I thought I was behind. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the head's up. I make sure to compare the prices. So I can stay ahead of the game. I really hope they will stick with my TA and not book on their own. I need the group rate to stay.
  4. Hahaha I like that response. People want you to rush through big moments in life. But the ones that rush are the ones that don't make it. Yup I was asked when am I getting married way too much as well. After a while I tune people out.
  5. I just send her an email. I made sure it was super sweet and bubbly. I said I know that she is really excited and just wants to help.....blah..blah...blah. Let's see how she reacts, and if she takes the assignments.
  6. You guys are awesome. I know she means well and she is super excited to the point where it gets overbaring. But all the "it's just a suggestion" at the end of everything is making me want to snap back. So I've decided not to discuss anymore details about the wedding planning. Just the need to know stuff. My FI said the same thing about giving her a job. But I was having a hard time finding something that is fact based and not opinion based. Maybe I'll put her over making sure people pay their deposits.
  7. Thanks ladies. I'm getting myself mentally prepared for this. This is also why I gave everyone deadlines ahead of what my TA gave us. To give us cushion room for the procrastinators to pay at the last minute. But in reality it won't really be the last minute. They just don't have to know that.
  8. Yes I've been on the forums on the knot and it drives me batty. I wonder where are all the real people. Becasue everyone can't possible think like that. I'm really turned off from them.
  9. So I'm only in the begining part of my wedding planning. We've only been engaged for 2 weeks however we started planning a month ago. But now one of my BF's feel like it is her place to critic everything I do and give me her "opinion". It was one thing when she asked if she can copy my about us portion of the wedding website and correct the gramatical errors. I was cool with that since I typed it at 1am. There are bound to be mistakes. However emailing me the corrections with added sentences and taking out the sentences that I had is another thing. It didn't even sound like me. Which I kindly told her. I corrected the 3 words that were wrong, and left it at that. But today she told me I need to make a public announcement of our wedding plans. People's feelings will be hurt and I need to let them know sooner than later. And make them feel better. WTF!!! For what. Oh and it is improper etiquette for me to hand out invites. It was ok to hand deliver the STD's not the invites. I must mail them and pay extra for stamps. I mean really, who makes up these rules? Let's be real the people that really matter are invited. Everyone else just wants to party, eat and drink on my behalf. We already planned on having an AHR/Party to celebrate with all the people that couldn't make it. But it is going to be pretty casual. Because other wise it will defeat the whole purpose of going over seas to save money. But i get the feeling people want me to spend more money to make them happy. And that is not going to happen. She was upset whrn I told her that I only wanted my mother and sister to come with me to look for gowns. But simply put I don't want any opinionated people with me ruining my dress shoping experience. I've watched enough say yes to the dress to know who that plays out. Then I have the people that are upset because my wedding is not convient for them. Last time I checked it was my wedding. A special day for me and my FI. One person came at me like that and they were not even getting invited. Then my biological father tried to come at me like as well. Honestly I could care less if he comes. He wasn't around to raise me and wasn't in my life growing up so....if you make it, cool. if not. Oh well. Ok that is my rant for now. I love this site. It really has all my needs. From looking, to DIY, to reviews to rants. It doesn't get much better that this.
  10. I feel from all of you. My extra people requests are just now starting to come in. and other people have been getting on my nerves so I'm sure it's a matter of time before it gets worst. All I can say is find some time to yourself. Don't answer calls and texts if you have to for a while. And nake sure other people stressing you out does not interfer with the relationship you have with your FI. Becasue at the end of the day it is about you two.
  11. Lol. I just got the when are you having babies question just this past Saturday. And i get the now it's time for you to have babies comment just last week. But seriously, I've been getting the babies question along with the when are you getting married question hand in hand. I have a son that I had at 19. I have refused to have another child out of wedlock. Once was a good enough lesson for me. I learned it very well. I have people upset that we have choosen to spend our money that we go to work every day to make, to have a wedding that is "too far" for them. Or the ones texting me saying that they are expecting an invote. Oh yes I have some things to vent about. I just mailed the save the dates. So I know it will only get worst once people start talking and wondering where their save the date is? I might start a thread because I have been fuming all day.
  12. Oct 15, 2012 Paradisus Punta Cana Bride here! I'm really excited as well. The more I read the more behind I feel. We've been engaged for 2 weeks and have been on the planning train going full speed. We've booked our resort and wedding package. But it seems like there is still so much left to do. We mailed the save the dates out yesterday. Is anyone else suffering from a lack of sleep? I work full time and go to school full time.
  13. NC Charlotte Bride here! Exciting. We must compare notes.
  14. I'm glad you were able to get the incentive. It really helps out alot. I just confirmed my photographer. I know someone here in the states that take beautiful pictures. Her style is more of a journalistic photography which is awesome. So now I can get all the pictures I want. We are flying her down and using one of our free rooms for her stay. So we will be saving alot of money this way. I think handing the bags out at dinner is a nice idea as well. I was thinking about having them in delivered to the rooms before they get there, so when they enter they have the nice surprise. But then again maybe I can incorporate a nice personalized gift giving time slot to the welcome cocktail party we are planning will do the trick as well. My FI was talking to one of our co-workers that is getting married this month, the traditional way. And he told him that " if he could do it all over again he would have a destination wedding." I don't know about you guys but it make me feel even better about my choice to get married this way.
  15. Thank you. I was really stressing about the site visit. i didn't want to spend the additional $600 on a flight but really felt like the visit is important. We are arriving on Thursday and getting married on Monday. So I guess we have plenty of time. Will I still be able to do tastings of the menu items? The TA I am using is Barbara with Wright Travel Agency. I really like her. She emails me all hours of the day and everyday. I made a point to ask about all of the incentives avaliable before I booked. One of my co-workers is getting married in jamacia and she is the one that told me most places offer incentives. Unfortunatly I just booked last week so I have the $1,000 fee to get around. But where there is a will, there is a way.

  18. Can you send me a copy of the spreadsheet? I don't have the permissions to see the attachment yet. [email protected]. Thanks a Bunch
  19. Hi Maridr2012, Thanks a Bunch. I've been going back and forth about the site visit. I really want to do it but we seem to keep racking up a balance so we want to keep the costs down. Overall I still think it is worth it. I will follow your advice and make sure I call the resort as well. I did purchase a calling card for when I need to contact them. I plan on doing the buffet dinner. But I will sample both. Just in case. I found out and about the additional incentives through my travel agent. But you should have no problem getting it since you will have 30 rooms. Honestly I think the more you have the more they should offer. What photographer are you using? And did you use a registry?
  20. Hi Everyone! I am recently engaged and I have been reading through this site for the past week. And I must say this has been very helpful. I'm just starting my planning and already I feel over whelmed at times. Am I the only one that is up all night long? We decided on Paradisus Punta Cana for our location. I'm really excited about that. There seems like so much that needs to be done but not enough time. Since the wedding is less than 8 months away I think I'm behind in the planning phase. Can anyone give me good advice for my wedding website. I need to set that up asap. What is a good site/template to use for destinations? I want to have a very detailed section for the guests that are traveling. I know I need to hurry up on it so I can send out my save the dates.
  21. Hello PPC Brides!!! I'm really excited. We just send in the payment to book our wedding. Our date is October 15, 2012. I have a few comments based on some of what I've read in the previous posts. I noticed a few people are upset about the new fee. There is a way around it. You could alway have the photographer stay one night as your guest. It will be waaaay cheaper than using the Resort's photographer. And as I've been reading for the past week the outside vendors take better pictures. I really like what I've been seeing for HDC. The website is nice. The price is decent and a lot of brides like them. So they sound good in my book. There are a few incentives that can be taken advantage of. For every 5 rooms book you get one free. with a maximun of 3 free rooms. I plan on using that to offset the price of the vendor staying one night. I have been working with Cemone out of the Miami office. She sent me a website that has pictures of all the different options that they have for weddings. Of course I know the better it looks the more it costs. For the DIY brides you can bring some of your own items and they will set it up for you for a fee of $100. Or you can have maybe a relative or friend that is with you do it for free. Just an option to keep in mind. I might be bringing my own fabric and ribbons to give me some add lare but have them set it up for me. https://picasaweb.google.com/romancebyparadisuspuntacana I also plan on doing a site visit around May some time. I need to confirm the date with my future Mother-in-law. Initially I was not going to do a site visit. But with the Love at First Site package, what you spend on your room is credited towards your wedding. So I see as making an additional payment to my wedding. The cost of the flight is not included. However it does include the following below: LOVE AT FIR S T SI T E {PRE-WEDDING VISIT} For many, wedding planning begins long before the proposal and Paradisus’ romance offerings allow for the ultimate fairytale wedding. Our Love at First Site Package invites those planning a wedding to visit the resort and see the space firsthand prior to the big day. In turn, guests of this package are then able to receive the value of their stay as a credit* towards their wedding day. The package includes accommodations, 15% savings on all spa treatments, and an in-room VIP welcome fruit basket and champagne. PACKAGE INCLUSIONS: • Up to a 3-night stay in a Deluxe Jr. Suite – Double Occupancy • Upgraded room to Royal Service or The Reserve area {subject to availability, upon request} • VIP welcome {fruit basket and champagne delivered in-room on the first night} • 15% discount towards spa treatments {not applicable towards spa products} • VIP site inspection of ceremony & reception locations with a member of the Romance Team and menu tasting • Romance Showroom set-up for the Bridal Couple’s viewing DOMINICAN R E P U B L IC | P UNTA CANA P E R P E R SON/ P E R NIGH T Paradisus Punta Cana Resort USD 120 PP/PN Paradisus Palma Real Resort USD 175 PP/PN MEX ICO | P L AYA DE L CARMEN P E R P E R SON/ P E R NIGH T Paradisus La Esmeralda Resort USD 185 PP/PN Paradisus La Perla Resort {Adults Only} USD 210 PP/PN T E RMS AND CONDI T IONS * • Valid for traveling 120 days before the Wedding date • Only one {1} Love At First Site Package per wedding • Maximum stay of 3-nights – additional nights can be reserved at the best available rate at time of booking. • A credit will be applied towards the bride/groom’s final payment on the wedding package selected.
