  1. We are using a bluish-mint as our primary, with teal and light green as secondary. I also want to incorporate burlap and lace.
  2. Hey ladies! I got the Dollar Tree Tumblers too. The price is right, but they do scratch/crack easily. We had to individually examine each one when buying them. I'm not expecting them to last forever, but hopefully they'll do for the 3-7 days that each guest uses them! Anyway... for packing, I also bought some plain white tissue paper from Dollar Tree. Because they scratch easy, I didn't want to stack them directly one on top of the other. Instead, I put a third of a sheet of tissue paper between each cup, to protect both sides as they stack. This will make them easier to pull apart as well. I also wrapped the lids and straws in tissue paper. I stacked about 9 cups high, and they fit perfectly into my suitcase height-wise. I have 30 and they barely take up any space!
  3. Hi Ladies. Apparently, if you booked in 2012, but did NOT get a firm pre-invoice before 2013, the restaurant will not honor the old pricing for you.. When I booked on Jan 4, 2012, I receive a wedding brochure with the "old" prices. She told me to wait to get the quote until I had firm numbers and not to worry about anything. At no point were we told that the pricing would change, or that getting a pre-invoice was time sensitive. As everyone knows, communication with Mayte is near impossible. I've heard all all about how incredibly busy she is, so I decided to try to not bother her, and didn't hurry her about that quote (we were keeping our own tabs on pricing and budget based off of the brochure she had sent us. Now suddenly, Mayte is saying that it's impossible to keep the old prices, since those were from 2009. Now, I know for a fact that brides were being charged these same "2009" prices in December of 2012 for their final invoices. It's INCREDIBLY frustrating and I can't help but feel like we are being cheated.
  4. Jenn, you're getting married 2 days after me!! We're getting married on the 8th. I can't believe how quickly it's coming up. Do you have an official invoice from Mayte yet? Communication has been so bad...
  5. Nah, we're not going to have one. First, we've been living abroad for the entirety of our engagement (about 14 months thus far).. so at this point, our engagement feels kind of like old new. Plus, like a couple of other people mentioned, I know that all of our guests are spending a bundle to get to the DR and I wouldn't dream of imposing more onto them. I'm more focused on planning the wedding anyway.
  6. Fun thread! I'm a dog trainer and a wedding stationery designer.
  7. Also, can you please review any of the cocktails you recommend, or food dishes? We're trying to put together our dinner and alcohol menu. Thanks!!
  8. Mimi, I'm sure it will be FAR from boring! I salivate over every tiny detail I can get about the Jellyfish.
  9. I think the worst part of the dress are the corset bumps. You're getting rid of that though, so no worries. Nobody will notice the minor stitching issues on your big day. I hope Jasmines gives you the full money back for "designer" grade. It's clearly not.. with everything your tailor said. Chin up.. you're going to look beautiful on your day!
  10. We were dating for 2 years and 2 months when we got engaged. We've now been engaged for over a year, and we'll have been together almost exactly 4.5 years when we get married.
  11. My fiance is the same way! He doesn't get it. He thinks it's stupid. 3 more months to work on him!
  12. Hey there. Well, first, it's YOUR wedding so you can do whatever you want!! I'm having a tiny cake for the cutting and cupcakes. I've seen plenty of weddings, however, on various wedding blogs where the couple forgoes cake altogether and does something like... pie, or cookies, or just a candy bar. I say do whatever you want! Set your own rules. My maid of honor, is actually a "man of honor" as my best friend is a man... I think with destination weddings especially, it's easier to break the rules as people are expecting things to be more casual anyway.
  13. Welcome Jessica! We got engaged Oct. 27, 2011 and are planning a March 2013 wedding. I'd say you have the perfect timeframe to get everything in order. Keep an open mind and also remember that you will probably change your mind 20 times on what exactly you want. I would suggest waiting until much closer to your wedding to finalize details. Good luck!
  14. The official deadline is like January 6th. So there is definitely still time. It's just stressful, and I don't want to have to put the "sales" me into it and make them feel pressured!
  15. Ahhhhh....! Just got an update from our TA (2 weeks after our pseudo deadline). Our best man and one of the bridesmaids have not yet booked. DRIVES ME CRAZY. Mostly because I don't want to be annoying and bug them, but don't really know what to do to get them to get on it.
  16. Oh and I just noticed you included silicone watches in your OOT bags... BRILLIANT! I'm heading over to ebay right now!!
  17. Wow! SO happy to see another creative DIY bride on here! I'm considering stealing your votive candle idea for my wedding. I also LOVE your programs. What a great way to put your guests into a fun mood. I'm sure your wedding is going to absolutely ROCK!!
  18. I actually loved the first dress more than the second, but your updated dress looks beautiful too!! Yay... congrats on finding "The One"!
  19. I think that sounds like A LOT of stress! Cooking yourself I mean. There have got to be more options. Definitely try calling the ladies who do catering. They may be able to work with you on a budget as well.
  20. Thanks!! I'm going to be releasing more beach wedding invites in 2013, plus printing services.
  21. Oh you're right! I looked on there about a week ago and saw them. I can't find them now!
