Yes, we were able to book our wedding and hold a group of rooms, but it's too early for us to do flights. We are very happy to do that since that allows people more time to pay on their trips.

Hi everyone! I am a 2013 bride too! We are getting married October 5, 2013 at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa in Dominican Republic. We are so excited. I look forward to planning with you all for the next 19 months (yikes!).

Hi Ladies! Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My FI and I are confirmed for DPC Oct 5, 2013. That seems sooo far away from now, but everyone says how fast the time will go. Right now, we are anticipating about 40-50 guests...hopefully not too much more than that or it will get more expensive than we are planning for. I have gained so much from these boards already and I have ideas for practically every part of our wedding based on what I have read here. I haven't sent them out yet, but they will include the location, the date and our wedding website, where I will be putting the travel info and travel agent contact info. When they go out (next month, if all goes well), they will be over a year and a half before the wedding date.

We are also looking at Dreams Punta Cana. I am doing a little more research myself, including reading these forums, so hopefully we will decide on a resort soon. I do know we do not plan to use the resort photographer. There are a some that are highly recommended on this forum which we will consider. And I will also look into a local photographer and possibly flying him/her in for the wedding. Good luck with your planning!

I like that idea. It's more fun than a traditional guest book, and people can have a little extra time to think about what they want to write (if they want to be creative, of course).

I agree..you should be able to find a very nice variety of bands to match your e-ring, as many brides choose rings similar to yours.

After attending the DW of a friend, I started doing some research and asking some questions. We like to travel, so we are always looking for our next trip. Also, with the cost of a wedding, we will be getting a whole vacation (and of course the wedding) for the cost of what we would be spending for only one day locally. So for us, we wanted to get more bang for our buck, which we defintely will with a DW.

We are also planning to have a legal ceremony before our DW. It is a matter of saving the money, and I can change my name as soon as we return home.

I'm pretty much at the same place as you right now. Even though I have already started telling people about our plans for a DW, I will wait until I see who has real plans to attend before making a final decision about who to ask.

Once I have a confirmed date and location, I will send out STDs, even though it will be well over a year in advance. I would want as much notice as I possibly could to plan vacation time from work, and the expense of the trip. So I want to provide the same to our guests who really want to come. In the next few weeks we'll narrow down a date and location so we can get them in the mail.

We are considering something like this too. But like others, we will have to see how many people attend and what we can afford to do.

I went to a wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace back in November. Trust me, you will not be disappointed! Everything turned out wonderfully for thier wedding.

Welcome to the forums. Having read through the boards, it looks like some resorts will do rehearsals, some will do a rehearsal for a fee. I have also read that some brides will do a run-through with their bridal paty on their own, without the assistance of the resort. My opinion is a rehearsal, no matter how short, is helpful to make sure everyone at least has an idea. Is your WC saying they won't do one, or just saying that she doesn't think you will need it?
