  1. Your right about the sashes....I didn't even think about sending someone down to place them. I think I will do this instead. (What are you doing for your centerpiece I'm still waiting on Olivene to give me a price for centerpieces.) I'm going to let Jan's do the centerpieces. A low floral arrangement with tealights. I think I'm going to add some seashells to the table though. Are you doing a welcome dinner? No, I decided to just do a dinner with my bridal party and then have a welcome cocktail hour with the rest of the guests in a free area. When are you arriving? August 2nd. Are you having a private reception? Yes, we are going to use the sundowner terrace.
  2. For past Sunset brides, if you brought your own music, did you rent the pa system? Or was the music and your voices loud enough to carry the sound to your audience? I'm having a small wedding but I just don't know how the setup is going to be.
  3. Whew, 75, and its only March!! Do you have the BM dress in mind yet? I ordered my bm dresses on this past Thursday, I used one of the etsy sellers to make wrap dresses. For the AHR, I wanted to do a backyard bbq but my FI wanted something inside, so we are doing a tropical themed reception/party at a hotel but I'm going to keep that number low too. Working with Kathy is okay....I don't see eye to eye with her all the time so we speak now and then, but generally she is a calming voice to talk to sometimes. Tanesha and Olivene have been okay, there was alot of drama related to my date but it has been worked out now. Have you had trouble getting things done for you for free like they were for the brides from the past? Like I was going to bring my own sashes to have them placed, but now they are saying that there is a fee for that too. I almost booked a flight down there earlier this month to make sure everything was okay but the resort is trying to accomodate me. Is the resort going to discount some items for you since your bringing a large number? Are you using a outside florist? I'm going to use Jan's, they have been very quick at responding and their prices are cheaper than the other florists I have talked to including the resort.
  4. Its coming. I'm trying not to lose my mind. Who said destination weddings are easier? I'm on target though for the DW and the AHR. I am planning for a small wedding, 30 ppl and we are right up on that number. You have 52 wow! Its only March! How are you?
  5. There are all kinds in Jamaica. Do you have a date in mind yet and a budget? Maybe you should look some general resort reviews up on tripadvisor and take a look at some of the pictures. There is always feedback on this site as well from multiple venuse.. After you pick a general date, narrow your selection down by whatever is most important to you. Afterwards, ask for quotes for prices during the time you would like to stay to see if it is feasible. Contact the resort to see if your date is available.
  6. How did you put your deposit down? I'm a little hesitant about giving her my credit card number.
  7. All I can think of is "Ribbon In the Sky" Stevie Wonder for something mellow....
  8. Absolutely gorgeous!! I hope my wedding turns out to be as stunning as yours! Thanks for doing this planning thread.
  9. I can speak for the services provided at the resort but I can say that many people seem to use Rashel. She does hair and makeup and she will come to out to you. It has been discussed nder vendors.
  10. Congrats! I'm getting married in August. My FIs best friend is a photographer, so he is going to do our photos. Don't forget to post your question in the iberostar thread.
  11. Which resort? Also, I asked a similar question about reception thoughts in one of the general threads.
  12. My guess is that they didn't receive an invite right? And your friend sounds like she has made the other party aware of the issue. If you really don't want to have them then just make sure you have your friend explicitly explain this to them (politely of course). Its a resort right, I'm sure they will find other things to do during your wedding/reception.
  13. I have been looking at different threads about how the dinner reception at the resort can be done. I am having a little trouble visualizing the entrance of the bride and groom at the reception. Our wedding is at 3pm but we are planning for a 5:30pm reception on the beach for sunset. Should we tell the guests to gather at 5:30 and then enter at 6? Or do we just come in like everyone else. We are using a laptop/ipod for the reception at the resort. I will ask a friend to work it. Also any suggestions on the run of the reception would be appreciated. Thanks!
  14. It depends on the seller. Babyonline and Allanhu seem to be two of the better sellers. But its a crap shoot, stick with a seller who has good feedback. I ordered a dress from Allanhu, it was very close to the picture.
  15. A good start would be to contact the locations that are in your top 5 and ask for the 2012/2013 costs and if they have your date available at the time you would like.
  16. So they don't charge the vendor fee if you use their florist? Are the rates still the same, I mean between what the resort would charge and what Tai would charge?
  17. Ohh...they are both great additions, but I love the colors available for the passport cover.
  18. Alot of brides seem to like Cakes by Noira. I think she has a facebook page.
  19. I haven't seen anyone post on the board about the Grand Pineapple but I saw that the last review on tripadvisor was about a wedding. You may want to try to contact her for help.
