  1. These forums have been a God send!
  2. The reason I opted for a destination wedding was because planning and paying would be more laid back. I think we lose sight of why we r getting married and that is how we get stresses. I refuse to let any of my guests and/or planning stress me out! Happy planning!
  3. The chapel looks sooo nice. Very old fashioned! I'm going for a beach theme but the chapel is nice.
  4. I am on my quest for a photographer...I am reaching out to Katya Nova. The sound of no travel fees and custom package to my budget are like music to my ears. I do not mid paying the hefty $300 fee for them to shoot at the Majestic Colonial but I looking forward to hearing more about "custom packages". We aren't doing a TTD session, we don't have a wedding party, it's a vow renewal soooo I do not want something super extravagant but still want good quality if that makes any sense. lol
  5. I plan on grabbing a few advils and sun screens from the dollar section in target which actually come about 5 in a pack. I am sure I will go over but I am really looking for the best bargains. I am also trying to do a lot of DIY projects for programs and key holders and/or luggage tags. I have less than 10 months and I am quickly finding that my "budget" is a "guide".
  6. Sample sales are by appt (which i have...thank God!) but "blow out sales" are super low prices and can get very ugly! LOL
  7. I have not received my scripts yet. I have a ways to go so I will be patient. Lol
  8. We are having a beach ceremony and def doing OOT bags, just waiting for ppl to make downpayments before I start buying knicks and knacks. I won't be booking a DJ, instead renting the sound system and having my brother use his ipod and my uncle is a professiong disc jockey on the radio in NYC and we will have him introduce us at the reception at the Wet Bar, which all depends on how many guests we have. A DJ is not in our budget. We are doing 1PM beach ceremony (Super early...all they had avail). We will take pics and let guests rest up and meet back up for drinks at 5 then dinner at 6:30PM at the steakhouse, and reception at 8PM. I think I am super excited about those too. You have done a great ob with your bags Torilynn! If you aren't using an ipod, what will your friend be using?
  9. I do not have a wedding party as this is a vow renewal for me and I felt it wasn't necessary. I must say my hubby who is a laid back kinda guy has also stepped up and helped with giving more than the average"that's nice". For things like trying on dresses, I will grab a few of my girls and most likely take my mom with me for the actual decision making! I'm glad you got over it, I was worried at first as well but happy to receive help every so often as opposed to feeling like I must consult with my "wedding party". Happy planning!
  10. WOW...I thought we had a lot of ppl to invite. My husband is one of eight and that would mean, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, etc. But also, we are from New York City, the captial of the world and EVERYthing is extremely expensive, weddings average 100K here. This is a vow renewal for us, so something simple with our closest family and friends was the perfect idea! Always wanted to go to Dominican Republic! There it is! I am so happy with my decision and as some other ppl mentioned...it is YOUR day so spend it YOUR way! Happy planning!!!!
  11. We are def using a travel agent. I only invited 50 ppl (plus their dates or what have you) but I think it is a great central place for ppl to make payments and travel arrangements. My TA has given my guests a payment plan, spacing it out and giving them ample time to make payments. This is also helping with my plans for reception, OOT bags, etc! Happy planning ladiesss!
  12. We have been together for 14 years and married for almost 5 yrs. I think this is more of a celebration of the journey we have been on and we would like to exchange or vows with our family and friends there. Those that can make it will be there while those who can't won't. I love how carefree this is! Can you ladies tell me what you did different from a "wedding". I do not want this o be like a wedding!
  13. This is one of my biggest fears, that it will be too late to get "summer" things. I guess summer things come out in February but I feel like I should be looking NOW! I will def be doing a lot of online shopping.
  14. I am addicted to Friday nights on TLC! I am going to Kleinfeld's sample sale in hopes to find a deal! Wish me luck!
  15. Looking forward to the new season of the Housewives of Atlanta. November 6, 2011...I will be glued to my tube! LOL
  16. I am 5' 4" and my husband is 5' 7". He is already "little" (lol), I will do barefoot sandals for beach ceremony but I am looking for a small heel for the reception.
  17. I like the Maggie Sottero Carly dress but I would def need a knock off. I cannot see myself spending upwards of $400 for one day! I am def looking for a similar style dress.
  18. Pastor York has gone up to $350 for those of you booking in 2012.
  19. I booked Pastor York back in August for my August 2012 vow renewal ceremony. We exchanged a couple of emails but he was very pleasant. I have read nothing but amazing things about Pastor York and I did not have a wedding my first time around so I am looking forward to this being a very meaningful ceremony and I do not think I would get that with a wedding coordinator from the resort. Happy planning!
  20. Congrats! What app are you using on your phone?? Happy planning!!!!
  21. I too wanted to keep it under $1000. My guests are paying $350 for the room and approx $500 for their flights. This is for 4 days/3 nights.
  22. I am looking forward to getting acquainted with vistaprint and all the FREE stuff they have to offer!
  23. These are cute. My budget is $1 for the actual bags. I'm hoping to catch a break at Bath and Body Works during the holidays.
  24. I am renewing my vows at the Majestic Colonial after 5 yrs of marriage. I am looking to have something small and simple. For those of you ladies who have sealed the deal at the MC, can you give me some of your best advice? Thanks in advance.
